The Third Legion (Story)

-Foreword-

Sometimes I like to write stories. They're not necessarily good stories, and I'm not too great of a writer, but that doesn't stop me from writing it anyway. I like doing it, and so I will do it. I don't really expect anyone here to read my story, but go ahead if you want to. This particular story will probably bore some people, but it will satisfy me. I understand some of the lore may not be exactly correct, but then again - I'm no lore-buff. Thank you.

Chapter I: The Letter

4E 201 - Chorrol

"...and without further reasoning, we are hereby disbanding the Third Legion. The Legionnaires are to report to their homes or to the Imperial City. You, Romentus, are expected to report to the Imperial City for further orders. No delay. You are also required to write back immediately to confirm you've read the letter." Romentus crumpled the letter in his hand before tossing it into the fire. He stood up from his wooden chair, sighed, and began removing the steel gauntlets on his arms.

This wasn't the first letter he had received. For several months the Elder Council had sent him similar letters demanding to disband the Third Legion. After the assassination of Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, several cities had seceded from the crumbling Empire. Anvil and Kvatch seceded and formed the Alerius Kingdom, a minor faction that planned to outlast the Empire and take control of Cyrodiil. Skingrad followed in suit and seceded as well, and soon after annexed Bravil, creating the Skingrad Coalition. Argonia had taken Leyawiin and many refugees fled north to join Bravil, who in turn joined the Skingrad Coalition. Cheydinhal, Bruma, and Chorrol were still loyal to the Empire. General Tullius and the Fourth Legion were occupied with the Civil War up in Skyrim, and so could not offer much support.

This certainly has a lot of potential to be a good story. I am eager to see where you take it.
