then how to you block with a sword or dagger?

with the hilt, that is what I am saying that has no hilt it cannot block, it is angled so it slides to the blade

It's an awesome weapon, but it wouldn't "fit" in Skyrim. If this were taking place back in Morrowind, however, it would be an awesome addition because it looks like something that I could see hanging in Ra'Virr's store.

then how come in the game you can block with the edge of your blade? also you can position your hands on the outside edges of the hilt and block in the middle of it.

I don't think the weapon would fit Skyrim...
That 2 sworded weapon looks like an exotic weapon, I think.
Throwing stars have easy animation, so it's ok.

its not the proper technique though in real life you would probably give too much or when it hits your blade it will also make the blade go down. Whenever you block with a sword you get it down by the hilt that is what they are made for. I guess it would be possible to just make a blade stop dead, but you have to have the same force as the other person is exerting

First: Your arguing semantics.
Second: I blade would slide and slice your fingers. Like I said, you have to deflect and move. You can't block with that weapon.

It won't be in, we are sorry. :icecream:

I wouldn't use it. It's obvious to me that it's all about spectacle and glitter, meant to be twirled around in a series of elaborate flourishes. That's fine, impressive even, but ultimately ineffective (in a real combat situation, where you sole ambition is to kill/incapacitate the other guy before he does the same to you, economy of motion is everything. Any time or energy wasted on a artful flourish can mean instant death) and therefore not congruent with the low-fantasy Conan-esque blood-and-eviscerated-guts feel that Beth is aiming for in Skyrim.

Plus, it's from Eragon. Major no.

So it's basically Darth Maul's lightsaber, but without the batteries.

LOL

And for everyone else, wow, great way to derail this thread into a troll fest.

As soemones sig oen said, "Trolls should stay under bridges and not on forums." Or something like that.

No I thought it was a pretty accurate description. A quarterstaff with a blade in each end for added effect is more accurate but less funny.

With staves for melee like in Morrowind it would do more damage.

They aren't even putting spears in, mostly because the style in which they're used is much different than the style in which more traditional melee weapons are used. Good luck getting them to include entirely new sets of animations and combat style for a far more obscure weapon that would feel entirely out of place.

I'd just like to point out that along with the club the spear is one of the oldest weapons known to mankind. And the only weapon of which every people developed their own variant. It is the most wildly used and historically known weapon. That's all. ^_^

Yeah, spear is a basic weapon. "Pointy stick". Doesn't take a genius to invent one.

Yeah it kinda of did. Back when the range of man's thought was "Hunger... eat... six... sleep..." it took a genius to think "Hunger... food puts up fight... need to kill it... hand not work... I kill it with big stick."

The first of everything takes a genius or a really lucky moron and often times the two are indistinguishable. ^_^

I agree completely. Besides, I'd rather they elaborate on different combat mechanics between already-existing weapons rather than adding something like this. Marking the difference between longswords and shortswords for example, instead of having a universal hack'n'slash animation. Hopefully if unlikely something approaching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf4IoxEUmHM

What's wrong with Eragon? I liked it. But then again I've come to notice that people online aren't the "like it for what it is" type. Oh well.

a two-bladed sword? That seems like a good way to accidentally stab yourself.

or just hold it properly?

Anyways this is what I want to see in the game. A sword with the looks of the http://www.a2armory.com/images/lotr/uruk-hai.jpg. It's my favorite look for a sword all time. Idk why but it just looks so cool to me. It's got that http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=P8i&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=machete&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1024&bih=574 to it I guess. A large cleaver-like cutting tool or weapon.

I think i may have overlooked that game. Never even thought to give it a chance but damn that's some nice visual combat gameplay. I now hope Skyrim combat is atleast that good visually. Damn that really does look like the best combat I've seen in first person view.

I assume the first video you were talking about this part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEjYt6t2hu4&t=1m10s. You can use this website to help you link to specific parts of youtube videos. It helps alot. http://youtubetime.com/#
