She worked a very mundane, and tiring job at the Frozen Hearth. http://puu.sh/6GIL3 for the same handful of visitors... http://puu.sh/6GINzThe work was dull, yet tiring and unforgiving. Ilfhild refused to see herself as some cleaner in a tavern in the middle of a ruined city... She would dream of being just like the old http://puu.sh/6GION Imagining herself http://puu.sh/6GIPa Seeking a http://puu.sh/6GIQp, she was just like the Nords of legend! Oh yes! Free from the shackles of the mundane, our adventurous Nord Lass wandered the unforgiving snowy-land of northern Skyrim. The weather was brutal cold, but her soul burned at the highest temperatures. It would take more than cold weather to break her wander-lust, but Mother Skyrim is quick to judge, and put even her young babies to the test.

http://puu.sh/6H85Y Ilfhild thought to herself as she checked for his vital signs. Unfortunately for her kind-heart, she could helplessly do nothing for the lifeless corpse. Nothing but avenge him perhaps? His blood was still warm, and his slayer likely lurked nearby. He had bite marks on him, so a beast it must have been. But the bites oozed with a mysterious ice... She prayed for the stranger's soul, and hoped he found peace in the afterlife.

It wasn't long before Ilfhild found the beast. A http://puu.sh/6H86i that blended in with the icy snow, Ilfhild the fearless soon found herself chilled with fear. As the http://puu.sh/6H86v did make it's way to it's next prey. Ilfhild knew very well what this creature meant to her kinsmen, she knew this was a test from her ancestors whom she knew little about. The Ancients of Atmora judged her every move as the http://puu.sh/6H86C quick to criticize and punish every wrong move, with glorious death. Ilfhild quite frankly, had not a single honest thought of how to deal with this mystical creature, as it's icy misty form absorbed most of the impact of her fine mace. She found herself http://puu.sh/6H86H by it's evasive maneuvering and relentless bites that chilled her very soul on mundus.

Unfortunately for the Icy Wraith, http://puu.sh/6H86O As if Talos himself guided her hands, she predicted the Wraith's movements and countered with http://puu.sh/6H86T And with http://puu.sh/6H875 she would pass her rite of passage into Nordic Warrior-dom. And the Ancestors of old, as harsh and critical they are in judgement, reluctantly deemed her test worthy of a... passing grade. She relished in this small victory while http://puu.sh/6H87k

It was still midday in the middle of nowhere, and the Ancients of Old were not through with her just yet...

It was a harsh yet peaceful journey, as our bright young Nord Warrior dared the unrelenting blizzard. She may have passed her first trial, but the Gods of Old were not forgiving teachers. She would not complain however, as she loved the cold as it kept her on her toes. Many before her braved these snowy lands, and so shall she, novitiate of the valiant.

The sun was setting and the snowy sky darkened... The temperature dropped even more... and the blizzard was just getting started... There was no shelter in sight, but Ilfhild would not lay down and freeze to death. She was ever traversing the icy night, and the cold itself would submit to her fiery passion.

The Gods of Old however, were not convinced, and her trials had only just begun. Ilfhild soon found herself in a dire situation, as she was ambushed by three brave marauders, whom the angry blizzard did not even bother... http://puu.sh/6H87B did make Ilfhild their prey. As if summoned by Shor himself, to test the young Nordic Warrior... his ancient enemies of old would put this eager Nord to the test.

Fighting a lone Ice Wraith is challenging enough for even a veteran Daughter of Skyrim. But for young Ilfhild to face three Orcs whom were no stranger to battle? Ilfhild was up for the challenge as http://puu.sh/6H87G The Orcs were proud and haughty, and had slain many warriors in their marauding hunts. Ilfhild still had adrenaline from her trial hours ago, and stood her ground. The Orcs were too certain, and http://puu.sh/6H87L The Orc Veteran was impressed, and honor-bound he was, decided not to fight cheaply. He stood back as the other Orc was eager to avenge his fallen comrade. The two dueled and Ilfhild's spirit was on fire. She was shrugging off all the impact to her armor, as she pummeled the Orc with her mace. She has slayed the second Orc, and one stood in her way.

The Orc veteran stepped forward, and so did Ilfhild, and the two did fight. But Ilfhild in her all her fiery passion, was literally toyed with by the brutish Orc, whom did laugh as she tickled his thick skin, and fine Orchish armor with her Iron mace. The Orc's blows did punish Ilfhild, and she found herself at the http://puu.sh/6H888

The Orc commended her battle prowess, but for all of Ilfhild's fire, all seemed lost. Off her feet and heavily wounded, the Orc did sense his victory close at hand. But the Orc's pride overshadowed even his impressive physical stature, as he relished this worthy foe he had found. Minutes seemed to pass as the two locked eyes. The http://puu.sh/6H88e studied Ilfhild, as he walked back and forth... savoring the moment where he would decide her death once and for all. But it was at that moment Ilfhild felt a surge of energy rush through her body. As if Kyne herself did scorn her unforgiving husband Shor, for pitting young, inexperienced Ilfhild against such an unfairly powerful foe. Kyne, amongst the unforgiving Ancients of Old, did give young Ilfhild the benefit of the doubt. And http://puu.sh/6H88k

As the Orc Veteran did ready his sturdy mace of Orichalcic make, to deliver the crushing blow of Malak's hate. Young Ilfhild did mimic the Ice Wraith she had fought, and gave the Orc an evasive headbutt he couldn't thwart. http://puu.sh/6H88o Ilfhild scoffed at her injury and the proud Orc found himself suddenly tired, and in pain from Ilfhild's decisive hits. Ilfhild http://puu.sh/6H88u and soon she would deliver a http://puu.sh/6H843 And with that swing, http://puu.sh/6H89s

http://puu.sh/6H89W and Ilfhild could not believe her victory, as she http://puu.sh/6H8ag 3 brave Orcs lay at her feet, and she did http://puu.sh/6H8aq for the harsh test they brought. Her wounds were major, and she was crippled. She had used her only potion against the Ice Wraith hours ago, and there was no shelter in sight...

With determination in her heart, she pushed forward and http://puu.sh/6H8ay She would not fall just yet, and the Ancestors of Old were not satisfied.

Ilfhild and her harsh ancestor began their trial, as Beem-Ja watched over Salma with his ranged magic. Ilfhild proved a worthy foe, and the Maiden began to laugh once again. She spoke in an ancient tongue, that Ilfhild would long to understand. The battle quickly turned deadly, as Salma's opponent proved a skilled and durable warrior, as his attacks would not cease, and Beem-Ja had his restorative magicks drained, trying to keep Salma in a battle-state. http://puu.sh/6LtBv Beem-Ja anticipated. Ilfhild studied the http://puu.sh/6LMxG.jpg"Hmmm... a Dwarven, or "Dwemer helmet." Likely one of Gathrik's many battle-trophies of his fallen enemies..." Beem-Ja observed. It was an ornately bronze helmet, and Salma was tempted to take it. But it was apparent to both Beem-Ja and Ilfhild that this was most surely the trigger of a trap. Ilfhild vigilantly looked around and found a http://puu.sh/6LtCK conspicuously hanging from the ceiling out of normal height's reach.

"That must be our way in!" Ilfhild proclaimed with confidence. "Makes sense..." Beem-Ja began to postulate. "Gathrik is said to be unnaturally tall amongst his kinsmen." "Unnaturally... tall?" Salma curiously asked. "Yes. in the old legends, Gathrik would literally tower over all his foes. A giant amongst men and mer. Even the Altmer - tallest of the mortal races were short compared to him! Why, he must have been over 8 feet tall!" Beem-Ja continued to hypothesize with excitement. Beem-Ja continued, "In any event, we should proceed, yes? His tomb-" " -And treasures!" Salma jumped in. "Yes Salma. Naturally, we can assume great wealth to be found, buried with Gathrik..." Beem-Ja politely assured. "Are we ready?" Ilfhild asked.

And so, the two glory-seeking Shield-Maidens led the way as usual. But unbeknownst to perceptive Ilfhild and innocent Salma, wise Beem-Ja had an ominously http://puu.sh/6LAw3 as he followed suit. The Ancestors of Old were watching, judgmental as always. For they too were eager, for young Ilfhild to prove herself worthy of Shor's Hall.

And so, the trio had entered Warlord Gathrik's tomb, and Gathrik the Giant had awakened to http://puu.sh/6LAwK

Hi... YIN hav dii praan staad joorre? Gathrik asked, with a voice that would make even the dead cower in fear. http://puu.sh/6LMkq Gathrik Yelled as he summoned forth skeletal remains to battle at his side. Salma rushed forward and began courageously battling one of the Skeletal mages, while Beem-Ja focused his ranged magic on the Skeletal Archers whom equally proved a dangerously ranged threat. Ilfhild went to join Salma in battle but was stopped by the http://puu.sh/6LMkY Ilfhild hit the ground hard but quickly rose to her feet. Gathrik the Warlord had jumped down a dozen feet with ease and reinforced his less physically imposing skeletal minions. http://puu.sh/6LAB3 and the battle had risen in intensity. Salma feigned an injury that allowed the undead to http://puu.sh/6LABK as she courageously taunted Gathrik and his minion herself. Beem-Ja had disposed of the Skeletal archers, and http://puu.sh/6LMlD As Salma got back up, and ambushed the Skeletal mage. http://puu.sh/6LABX

Pruzah... Zuk krii wah dii for! Gathrik muttered under his dreadful breath. The Shield-Maidens http://puu.sh/6LMlL as true Shield-Sisters and did their best to http://puu.sh/6LMm2 Gathrik's immense size began to become his undoing as he found himself clumsy, amongst the less physically-imposing agile mortal prey. And so he http://puu.sh/6LAxj that sent both his prey flying back. Beem-Ja continued his attacks from afar while Ilfhild was unnaturally quick to her feet. Gathrik found http://puu.sh/6LADz as Beem-Ja's lightning magic teared at his thick decayed muscle, and Ilfhild plunged her previous' opponent's ancient sword, deep into Gathrik's seemingly impenetrable wicked flesh. http://puu.sh/6LMmk

"Excellent!" Beem-Ja proudly exclaimed. "I knew there was no way Salma and I alone could defeat Gathrik, but with you, there was hope yet!"

Ilfhild felt a sense of well-deserved pride, but was about to give an equal praise to the wise Argonian of the clever craft, for saving her life, until Beem-Ja continued with his train-of-thought.

"Now with you here, I have the necessary blood sacrifice to unlock Gathrik's full power! This will go by quickly if you just stand still!" http://puu.sh/6LAEI

A foul spell was unleashed and http://puu.sh/6LAEY The Warlord Gathrik would walk once again, with an anger that spooked Ilfhild's very soul from the inside-out, to the left, and downside right. http://puu.sh/6LAFb The innocent-hearted Salma did desperately ask. "Just stay out of the way Salma! No harm will come to you if you stay out of my way! I've waited FAR too long for this day, and I will succeed!" Beem-Ja declared. Ilfhild went after Beem-Ja, but Gathrik had fully risen, and http://puu.sh/6LAG1 Which knocked Ilfhild off her feet, allowing the treacherous Beem-Ja to slither away. Ilfhild picked herself up, and was http://puu.sh/6LAGn Ilfhild felt Sovngarde call for her, as she knew there was no way she could fight Gathrik at his full power, again. Especially in her tired and wounded state. She would have to kill Beem-Ja to break the spell, but he made good his escape, and the massive Gathrik did sand in her way.

She tried to run, but all seemed lost. Gathrik swung his axe, and miraculously missed. He countered with a swift grab with his hand, and dragged the cowering Ilfhild back to the fight. Ilfhild jumped to her feet and stared her executioner dead in the face, and would at least die a worthy death. But it would seem the Ancestors had made their decision, and scorned the foul play. Salma had chosen to stop the treachery... and forced herself to http://puu.sh/6LAHL whom she dearly loved... The spell was broken as Gathrik prepared his finishing blow. His final life-force left his body, as Ilfhild dodged the incoming swing. Shor would have to wait, for Ilfhild still had much to prove. And this battle had pleased him well.

Salma could not cope withe the sight of Beem-Ja slain by her own hand, and ran towards the darkness. Ilfhild gave pursuit, and sought to comfort her. "Why Beem-Ja? Why?" http://puu.sh/6LAIj "I'm so sorry Salma. I wish there was another way... I'm so sorry." http://puu.sh/6LAIx Salma asked Ilfhild if she could be left alone, so she could morn Beem-Ja's death. She had lost all her wander-lust and seeked to return home. Ilfhild respected her wishes, and went her separate way.

At Gathrik's throne, a fine enchanted Nordic Battleaxe seeked a master, as Ilfhild was eager to wield this trophy, for http://puu.sh/6LAJo Her curiosity for the Old Nordic ways took her to the majestic sight of an http://puu.sh/6LAL4 Written in a http://puu.sh/6LALp Nord she may be, but it was all for nothing, as Ilfhild was not worthy to comprehend the holy language. It would speak to her very soul, but she could not hear it. Ilfhild back-tracked through the ruins of old, seeking any treasure she may have missed. She found herself staring at the corpse of the ghoulish Nordic Shield-Maiden that wore the http://puu.sh/6LALD It was in fine condition, and the corpse was of the same physical build as her... What would she do, to wear the symbolic armor of her ancestors? To wear the very armor the Nords of Legend were famed to wear? She would do anything...

Ilfhild gently http://puu.sh/6LALO from the ghoulish figure, piece by piece. All her years of cleaning a tavern in the middle of a ghost city would finally pay off. She knew exactly how to cleanse and purify the armor just right, and rid it of any disease it may have carried... as she held her breath from the foul smell. Within an hour the armor was as good as new, and she had declared herself http://puu.sh/6LAMi At last, she felt as a http://puu.sh/6LAMw and the Gods of Old were pleased with her trials. It was not Shor... One God remained utterly dissatisfied and completely unconvinced of Ilfhild's trials... And this was the day... http://puu.sh/6O93j

http://puu.sh/6O92X Ilfhild yelled at the top of her lungs, to warn the Sons and Daughters below, of a most fearsome threat! A threat more urgent than their petty mortal conflicts!

The Dragon did say: http://puu.sh/6O960 And Ilfhild's heart would http://puu.sh/6O96O Fos los hiitir, Bron do dahsul? Dreh hi ni ned hinmaar bahlaan, uv dreh hi ni mindok vir sahlo hi saadgaar los? And it quickly became apparent to her, that the holy language that did call for her, was of these magnificent beasts. For Ilfhild would learn that day, that the Dragon was the most judgmental, of all the Gods of Old. And this was the one trial, she would not get the benefit of the doubt.

http://puu.sh/6O9ay Look at you! Of course I would save you for last. Did you think you would slither away from me, like some Snake? Hmmmm? Well? http://puu.sh/6OfyT.jpg While I give you the chance! Pahlok Joor!

All of the fantastical dreams were ripped from Ilfhild's mind, as she was struck hard with the harsh realization of reality. The Dragon's trial was the most harsh of all, and Ilfhild was unworthy.

http://puu.sh/6O9aY

Ahahahahahaha! And here I was... thinking you would actually disappoint! Very good mortal! Remember well, this lesson that I have generously taught you here. http://puu.sh/6Oe13.jpg

And remember it, Ilfhild most certainly will... As she ran like the true coward she was, away from battle, http://puu.sh/6O9ba

Ilfhild had passed The Dragon's trial, and the Gods of Old were curious yet...

Ilfhild ran for what seemed like eons, as she heard the Dragon that was Mirmulnir, lay judgement on the Sons and Daughters of Skyrim. She eventually found refuge at an altar to the merciful Divines, the merciful of them all, Stendarr. Whom would show mercy, to the disgraceful Ilfhild, whom brought shame to his Shield-Thane Shor. As Ilfhild continued her aimless journey, she found her mind flooded with images from her nightmare. Never before has she ever had such a vivid dream... It was almost as if... it were real. Her resolve was shattered and she contemplated the decisions she had made this past month. In a small amount of time she had gone from hopeless peasant, to an invincible Shield-Maiden... to... a coward. She begun to question everything she thought she understood. She wondered what would become of her now, as she found herself http://puu.sh/6Pn66 Her mind needed refuge and she knew of only one way to put her thoughts to ease. Mead. She found the local tavern, and made her way to the Inn-keeper... However, the ancient-armored Ilfhild, did draw the attention of a curious http://puu.sh/6Pn7p

http://puu.sh/6Pn7x

Troubled Ilfhild, was in no mood for a conversation.

http://puu.sh/6Pn7D

These words however, Ilfhild's remaining pride could not ignore.

It is a rare sight to see another one of my kinsmen, wielding the armament of our ancestors. The Stranger commented. http://puu.sh/6Pn7K Ilfhild asked in an unfriendly tone. You look like you have some stories to tell, I'm buying your drinks today darling, http://puu.sh/6Pn8p The Stranger requested with an alluring voice. Sure, but I'm not interested in sharing stories with you. Feel free to http://puu.sh/6Pn8b Ilfhild imprudently said.

http://puu.sh/6PncC

http://puu.sh/6Pn8y The Stranger began. I still can't believe what happened at Helgen... I mean, who would have thought the legends were true right?

http://puu.sh/6Pn8k Ilfhild's curiosity demanded.

http://puu.sh/6Pn8D The Stranger genuinely asked. It was attacked, destroyed... http://puu.sh/6Pn8K

http://puu.sh/6Pn8R as the Stranger did perceive with the eyes of a hawk. Gods of Old be praised... http://puu.sh/6Pn8W http://puu.sh/6Pn97

Ilfhild told the Stranger exactly what happened. Every horrifying detail, of the destruction that was wrought by Mirmulnir. As he did decreed the Sons and Daughters of Skyrim unruly for their arrogance. Their conflicts and animosity to each other. The punishment that was issued, to each and every one. Ilfhild told the Stranger how she survived, by begging the Dragon for mercy, and the Dragon allowed Ilfhild, the gift of precious life, a gift that all mortals take for granted.

http://puu.sh/6Pn9e Please tell me... The Stranger compassionately pleaded.

I do not wish to speak of it, and I've already said enough, now leave me to my drink. Ilfhild denied. I am very learned of the Old Nordic Pantheon, you understand? If there is more to this encounter, than you must tell me. Your mind is filled with darkness, and dark times have fallen upon us. http://puu.sh/6Pn9x

As if the Stranger exuded comfort from her very physical presence, Ilfhild found herself strangely at ease. It was as if she knew the Stranger, and would openly tell her everything. Ilfhild spoke freely about her nightmare that did ravage her mind. And the Stranger would attentively listen to http://puu.sh/6Pn9S http://puu.sh/6Pn9q http://puu.sh/6Pn9U

And when Ilfhild had concluded her recount, of a most terrifying nightmare, the Stranger's reaction was equally as shocking.

Praise be Sister! http://puu.sh/6Pnae

Blessed?! http://puu.sh/6PnbQ

Yes sister, http://puu.sh/6Pncv

The Stranger spoke for many minutes, explaining the significance of what Ilfhild had seen. The Stranger spoke of The Dragon that was Al-du-in, chief of the Old Nordic Pantheon. She spoke of The Dragon's nature, The Dragon's history, and The Dragon's significance. She spoke of Traitors of Old that no one would ever hear about. About how there once was a benevolent cult of yore, that praised The Dragon above all else. A cult that understood the power of The Dragon and the trials of The Dragon. They knew of the strength in submission, and that Ilfhild had actually passed the Dragon's harsh trial, by freely acknowledging her weakness. That Alduin was most impressed.

http://puu.sh/6PncU The Stranger abruptly said with unsubtle excitement. But The Dragon's test... is not yet over.

The Stranger spoke of the Dragon Cult. The forgotten cult of Old did still exist today, but their followers lay in dormant rest. The Stranger had given Ilfhild all the guidance she could, but it was not enough. The Stranger did encourage, that blessed Ilfhild seek the Holy Priests of Old.

I'm afraid my knowledge ends here. Only a Dragon Priest can set you on your next trial. The Stranger wisely said. http://puu.sh/6Pnd3 Located in the southern Reach. Past the road, and through the water. Up a hill above where the wisdom of old lay trapped, one will find holy Valthume.

Go now child, go! Seek out the Priest of Valthume! The Stranger eagerly encouraged. The Priest still lives? Ilfhild inquired.

I am certain of it. I do not know what you will encounter there my dear, for I have never been there. But in my heart... I know you will pass whatever trial surely awaits you there. The Stranger assured with confidence. The Stranger then warned: But you must stay true to The Dragon. For The Dragon has a sole enemy amongst the Gods. Be weary of the wicked Snake, whom will seduce you with an illusion of pleasantry. The Dragon is a harsh God, but rewards his most loyal - they whom preserve against the Dragon's brutal trials. The Snake is a trickster and you will be fooled. When you find yourself in too much agreement... that is the handy-work of the Snake! Heed my words well Sister! Your next trial awaits!

http://puu.sh/6Pndj Her next trial was now clear, and she set out with the http://puu.sh/6Pndr

Spoiler

With the Dragon's eye locked on the Dragon novitiate, young Ilfhild, the would-be Legend; had her morale boosted once more. Thanks to the Stranger whom she met and never met, Ilfhild's next trial would become clear. The Dragon, mightiest of Gods has spoken to her in her dreams, and she was being judged in the most crucial of trials to come.

"Located in the http://puu.sh/6VCeh Past the road, and http://puu.sh/6W3dv Up http://puu.sh/6VCeW where the http://puu.sh/6VCfV one will find http://puu.sh/6RDNi"

"http://puu.sh/6Sgam A great http://puu.sh/6Sgax" The apparition of an Ancient-armored Nord did warn.

"I fear for the land, should he escape... http://puu.sh/6SgaT"

Ilfhild felt a chill through her spirit, for the doom that the ghost portended. What evil could lurk within that might threaten the land? Ilfhild the Valiant could not idly stand-by with such a threat resting dormant! The Dragon, mightiest of Gods, would judge her worth of Sovngarde, by slaying a most dangerous threat to the realm?

Ilfhild would accept the role, and the way into Valthume http://puu.sh/6SgbF Ilfhild was not satisfied just yet however, and http://puu.sh/6SgbM And http://puu.sh/6Sgc0 http://puu.sh/6SgbW http://puu.sh/6VoTr

"In life, Hevnoraak drained his own blood from his body. His goal was to transfer his power back into himself after death, becoming a powerful lich."

"Hevnoraak planned his resurrection obsessively before dying. He had a way of enthralling people and built up a loyal army of followers. Good men fell under his spell and were forever twisted. http://puu.sh/6Sgcw After that, fear was enough to keep them in line. He could torture and humiliate them and they would not rebel. Even in death... they http://puu.sh/6SgcH"

Ilfhild could not let such a man go free. She would have to find the source of Hevnoraak's apex power - his blood vessels, and safely dispose of them. With the fury of a Dragon, she would set foot in Valthume proper, where she layed eyes on Hevnoraak's coffin. But for all her fixation, doubt would creep into her mind, as she felt the coffin calling to her. http://puu.sh/6VzIO and she would feel strangely at ease. http://puu.sh/6VzIS

http://puu.sh/6VzIY

Ilfhild was not expecting the ghostly apparition of what lay at rest before her. http://puu.sh/6VzJ3 "Hahaha, at ease novitiate. I forget, you do not yet understand the holy tongue, krosis. Startling you was not my intention. You seek an audience with me, http://puu.sh/6VzJw" The Ghostly presence affirmed.

"Y.You... http://puu.sh/6VzJe The evil that Valdar keeps at bay! You will not sway me from my duty! I know well, the trickery of the Snake. The Dragon has sent me here to serve as Valdar's Champion. His land shall not be corrupted by you!" Ildhild declared with confidence.

"My child, you know nothing of what you speak. I do not blame you, of course. What am I to expect? I do see what rests in your heart however. Alduin HAS sent you here. He has sent you here to learn, and learn you will. For you have much to learn of The Dragon and The Snake. Explore my Holy city. When you are ready, we will continue our discussion." Hevnoraak said, with a calm voice.

And just like that, the apparition of Hevnoraak had vanished, and Valthume patiently awaited.

Ilffhild would find herself at the steps of Hevnoraak's throne, and Valdar's voice would enter her mind.

"Here lies, Lord Hevnoraak of Valthume. http://puu.sh/6RIQB and http://puu.sh/6RIQM The citizens and warriors of Valthume http://puu.sh/6RIQV Despite his brutal name. As quick he was to punish, http://puu.sh/6RISk His subjects would http://puu.sh/6RISr And he would http://puu.sh/6RISy

Be wary of him Ilfhild. Be wary..."

Ilfhild would ponder on this, as she continued. She met some Draugr and dispatched of them in honorable battle. Where she then found the http://puu.sh/6VzKs of Hevnoraak's supposed brutality.

"He was a strict ruler, and his word was as law, as the Dragon's word was as law to humanity. http://puu.sh/6RISN http://puu.sh/6RISC One wrong twitch or lack of order, and you would be punished on the spot." Valdar commented.

Ilfhild would then find herself in http://puu.sh/6VzJD And Valdar would continue his commentary.

"http://puu.sh/6RISV Everyone whom could make it, would make it. http://puu.sh/6RIUw His http://puu.sh/6RIUP would sit directly under him, to his left. http://puu.sh/6RIUX For I was his Shield-Thane, the most loyal and devoted... We all were.

Goodness, he was such a http://puu.sh/6RIVd From the http://puu.sh/6RIVn to his http://puu.sh/6RIVz Men and women would listen to every single word that he uttered from http://puu.sh/6RIVR For none of us were allowed to look upon his face, as no mortal was allowed to look upon Alduin's Divine face. He inspired us all to serve The Dragon till our dying breath. And we were ensnared by his charm. Easily the http://puu.sh/6RIW2 of the entire Priesthood."

Ilfhild would find more http://puu.sh/6VzKC along her tour of Valthume.

"http://puu.sh/6VzJL http://puu.sh/6RIWd http://puu.sh/6RIWj I... knew of them all... too well..." Valdar solemnly stated.

"What do you mean?" Ilfhild would ask. But Valdar would not answer just yet.

She would eventually find the first of Hevnoraak's http://puu.sh/6VzKO http://puu.sh/6VzL0 The Deathord did shout, as Ilfhild accepted the challenge. A battle that http://puu.sh/6VzL4 and prove her prowess to The Dragon.

And as Ilfhild would http://puu.sh/6VzLc Hevnoraak would ask: http://puu.sh/6VzLh http://puu.sh/6VzLn http://puu.sh/6VzLr

Ilfhild could not believe herself, as she felt truth in Hevnoraak's words. And she would notice, the Dragon ornament of his attire. There was not a single doubt of who Hevnoraak was. He was the Dragon Priest of Valthume. He was the one to show young Ilfhild the way of The Dragon. And Ilfhild would reminiscence, on the warning the Stranger whom she never met, had given.

" But you must stay true to The Dragon. For The Dragon has a sole enemy amongst the Gods. Be wary of the wicked Snake, whom will seduce you with an illusion of pleasantry. The Dragon is a harsh God, but rewards his most loyal - they whom preserve against the Dragon's brutal trials. The Snake is a trickster and you will be fooled. When you find yourself in too much agreement... that is the handy-work of the Snake! "

Was this the work of The Dragon and Snake? Both working together to test Ilfhild? But who was who? Was Hevnoraak the clever Snake whom would appear as The Dragon; And Valdar, the blunt and straight-forward Dragon? Or was Hevnoraak in-fact, The Dragon's holy will; And Valdar was The Snake, whom would lead the faithful, away from the Dragon's blessings?

Ilfhild seized the opaque vessel, and continued onward. For her trial was just getting started. She soon found herself at the center of http://puu.sh/6VzKg Where the Priest of Valthume would confer to http://puu.sh/6RM3l that would benefit the cult... and himself. Just down the stairs laid a grisly sight. http://puu.sh/6VzK2 And Ilfhild would hear what Valdar had to say http://puu.sh/6VzLz

"Here is where Hevnoraak would conduct his most http://puu.sh/6RM3V And deliver his form of... http://puu.sh/6RM4M Punishment for http://puu.sh/6RM4u Hevnoraak was very strict, and he would not show mercy on those whom would show even the slightest hint of these crimes. The Dragon was a brutal God, and therefore, he must be, http://puu.sh/6RM6i And he was so... WILLING... Eager... Not a second thought entered his mind, on the ethics of his punishment, http://puu.sh/6RM6x A duty in which... http://puu.sh/6RM6Q I was his loyal Shield-Thane, and it was expected of me. And for a time... By the Gods... For a time I reveled in it! I enjoyed it just as much as he did... But there came a point where I could not block out my conscious anymore. It came to a point, where I was constantly... http://puu.sh/6RMay A NIGHTMARE! I simply wanted... http://puu.sh/6RMaV http://puu.sh/6RMbo of this horror of a reality."

"My loyal Shield-Thane, http://puu.sh/6RMbG Take your pick!"

"I... think I will leave this to you, my Lord. You are most efficient after-all."

"Come now Valdar, http://puu.sh/6RMbR Why the sudden hesitation, my dearest friend?"

"My Lord, I do not feel well... http://puu.sh/6RMcb I'm afraid I do not have the energy to deliver... erggg proper punishment.... http://puu.sh/6RMcW"

"My, my. That IS most unfortunate."

"Indeed my Lord, it is good you have your holy mask to protect you. I fear... *cough* there may be an epidemic amidst us..."

"An epidemic you say?! Yes... this IS most troublesome, my loyal Shield-Thane. Why, imagine... If I became ill... How would I perform my http://puu.sh/6RMd5 Do you think, Valdar.... That I, would http://puu.sh/6RMde even for a day? http://puu.sh/6RMdi"

"CONTROL YOUR VOLUME. http://puu.sh/6RMdz Yes, clearly you are ILL. Though, I wonder. What is it you are ill from? Because, you know what I think Valdar, my most loyal? I think, that there is, in-fact an epidemic amidst us. It slithers amongst the very floor, through every little crevice. I have seen you Valdar. I have SEEN you embracing the Snake mural in the Halls of Stories, Valdar. Are you having a conflict of belief? VALDAR?? Nothing goes unnoticed by me here, VALDAR!

I think, Valdar, that you should get some rest, right NOW. VALDAR. So you can feel nice and healthy tomorrow, VALDAR for when we have our scheduled sermon, tomorrow. VALDAR. I expect you, to be at my side, LOYAL to ME. VALDAR. Loyal to AL-DU-IN, PRAISE BE!

You are dismissed... VALDAR"

..

"I feigned sickness that day. http://puu.sh/6RMdI But I simply could not handle that room anymore..."

Ilfhild continued to endure the gauntlet that was Valthume, as she pushed onward into it's deepest bowels. She located the second opaque vessel guarded by a http://puu.sh/6VzM5 Ilfhild would lock eyes with him, and the http://puu.sh/6VzMv http://puu.sh/6VzMEThe Hulking Draugr taunted, before http://puu.sh/6VzMS which would knock down one of the oil canisters, and http://puu.sh/6VzMY The Draugr proved http://puu.sh/6VzN1 but Ilfhild was better, and she would vanquish the grotesque guardian.

The second vessel lay dormant, and http://puu.sh/6VzNg

"A genius idea, don't you think? Imagine... if only I had not been betrayed... The Nords of today would be as majestic as they were in times of yore..."

"Do not be coy! I...I... http://puu.sh/6VzNv You tortured them! http://puu.sh/6VzNC"

"Am I? Ilfhild my hero, http://puu.sh/6VzNG Why is it then, that I sense false-hood and uncertainty in your voice? Why is it, that you KNOW very well, what The Dragon expects of you. What AL-DU-IN expected of me... of all of us? You know what I am talking about my young Shield-Maiden. You know very well what I am talking about. You've experienced The Dragon's trial yourself. Mirmulnir I hear. My, my... How long has it been? I was and still am an instrument of my Overlord's will. The Dragon teaches strength in submission. Why is it then, that my followers are so loyal to me, if I am a monster? Because I make them into True Nords. Invincible and devout. Even as you slay them, they will arise in my call once more... when the time is ready of course."

...

Ilfhild found herself at a loss for words, as she simply http://puu.sh/6VzOa

"Say nothing now Ilfhild. Just listen. And look. You will understand, dear. Continue forward, take my vessels, defeat my soldiers. And ponder... Ponder on what I am telling you. Ponder on what Valdar is surely telling you. http://puu.sh/6VzOi We will continue our discussion... as you progress. "

"http://puu.sh/6VzOq" ilfhild requested, as Hevnoraak's shade vanished once again... Leaving her yearning for more answers.

Ilfhild continued to endure the unforgiving gauntlet that was Valthume, as she went up against remnants of http://puu.sh/6VzOF But despite their http://puu.sh/6VzOJ Ilfhild would be the best of them all, and prove herself worthy of The Dragon's judgement. It was not long, until Ilfhild found herself in Valthume's Hall of Stories, where she found an http://puu.sh/6VzOO and a http://puu.sh/6VzOS Ilfhild would wonder, why Valthume would honor The Snake, enemy of the Dragon. http://puu.sh/6VzPm

Wah hi, Shor Faal Prakem, mu ofan werid. Hin tahrovin los dreh ni foral, ahrk hi staad un sahvot fah Alduin Faal Dovah wah gor.

"What does that mean?" Ilfhild curiously asked.

"It is Shor The Snake, whom we give praise. For he in his treachery, puts our loyalty to Alduin... to the test. http://puu.sh/6VzPL"

" I... maybe..."

"Tell me Ilfhild. Tell me, what is a Snake? http://puu.sh/6VzPZ http://puu.sh/6VzQa"

http://puu.sh/6VzQf "The Dragon is the most brutal and harsh of the Gods. The Snake would call the valiant worthy of Sovngarde, even if they are at heart, at their core, unworthy. It is The Dragon whom demands the best of the best. And when the time comes, it is the Dragon, that will feast on Sovngarde, realm of the unworthy."

"The Snake is a trickster, and puts up the image of a Dragon's power. But actual power? It does not have. Must I tell you this dear? You know what I speak of. You had a Dream of Sovngarde, and saw what it truly was. A feeding pen, where the unworthy are kept as cattle for Alduin, mightiest of Gods. This is the fate you seek? Do not answer. Think. Question what I am telling you. Judge me. Consider the torment I wrought, and the undying loyalty of my followers, and the powers they wield over mortal-kind. Do they require the Snake's cushy lies? Ssssshhhh. You must now move forward. We will continue our discussion."

...

Ilfhild would reach the final gauntlet, where Hevnoraak's finest, http://puu.sh/6VzRn Ilfhild was eager as well, and the http://puu.sh/6VzRi Ilfhild found herself http://puu.sh/6VzRI but she would persist. All the trials she had endured, would pay off, as she disposed of each Draugr, http://puu.sh/6VzRr But the battle would grow dire, as Ilfhild began to tire. Two were slain, and http://puu.sh/6VzS3 Shield-Brother & Sister would show http://puu.sh/6VzSa But Ilfhild was a True Nord in her own right, and http://puu.sh/6VzSb Ilfhild would fight as if she http://puu.sh/6VzSg http://puu.sh/6VzSp Only victory, http://puu.sh/6VzT8http://puu.sh/6VzTe and http://puu.sh/6VzTm of Hevnoraak's finest.

Ilfhild had passed Hevnoraak's gauntlet, and claimed the third and final opaque vessel. The Ancient Draconic carved wall caught her attention, and she would meditate on it. She would http://puu.sh/6VzU9

"http://puu.sh/6VzTG You surely have come a long ways... ever since you first began your trials.

I personally never lost faith you know... Even as I lay trapped in my own coffin by treacherous methods... I never once doubted my decisions. My research. My judgements. I never once, lost faith in Alduin. I knew my Dark and benevolent Overlord would send me a hero. Or... my executioner.

Unlike The Snake who seeks to convince, I need not to. http://puu.sh/6VzU2"

And now... http://puu.sh/6VzUb The Snake and Dragon stand side-by-side. And Ilfhild must now decide.

Would Ilfhild stand by http://puu.sh/6VzUi The Rebel, whom would challenge The King's rule?

Would Ilfhild stand by http://puu.sh/6VzUt The King, whom would punish the Rebel's disloyalty?

http://puu.sh/6VzUy

"At last, Evil Hevnoraak can be vanquished from this land! Quickly now, pour his vile blood in the sconce by his throne. Then I shall release him in a weakened state, and we shall finish him!" Valdar would request.

"At last, my Overlord AL-DU-IN returns to this unruly land, and I shall be brutal and honest in punishment! Pour my blood into my coffin, so it may once again flow through my body." Hevnoraak would request.

Ilfhild... http://puu.sh/6VzUG

http://puu.sh/6VzWz" Hevnoraak congratulated.

"http://puu.sh/6VzWV http://puu.sh/6VzX2 " Ilfhild declared.

"http://puu.sh/6VzXH I will ask, and you will answer. Do you accept AL-DU-IN, as your Overlord, whose will is of highest priority, over the other inferior Gods?"

..

"Very good Ilfhild, I will soon like-wise accept you as my Shield-Maiden. But first... let us have a chat with Valdar, yes?

http://puu.sh/6VzYv http://puu.sh/6VzYd I had such hopes for you. You had all the makings... Were you so easily swayed by the praise-showering Snake?"

"http://puu.sh/6VzZx His heresy is way beyond reverting, of course... But such is the way, of The Dragon's final judgement. Enough about Valdar... Let us speak of you, my beautiful hero. http://puu.sh/6VzZM"

"Pure?"

"You saw what I offered to my most loyal. Not just me, but my fellow colleagues in the Priesthood as well. We all had our methods, but mine was most prudent in my humble opinion. And Ilfhild would walk the cold eerie fog, http://puu.sh/6VAqV Where once she was frightened at his fearsome sight, she now found http://puu.sh/6VAqo And Ilfhild was quick, http://puu.sh/6VApM to The Dragon, instead of The Snake. http://puu.sh/6VAtk She choose to http://puu.sh/6VAtn She chose the http://puu.sh/6VAty and her decision was final.
