I'm currenlty building a character based on the Dovahkiin from all of the trailers. I'm now at level 61 with 550 health and 250 stamina on adept difficulty. I've invested a lot of perks in 1 handed, blocking, heavy and light armor and smithing

I'm now at a point where I'm wondering whether to invest any exp at all in magicka? I'm very much obsessed with canon so don't want to "break" it so to speak and I'm confused about whether or not "trailerkiin" would use magic at all? He doesn't use it in the trailers and it seems all nords in the game are programmed to have their magicka very low besides vampire/god like characters such as miraak, harkon and serana, however I did notice this:-

...which I assume means even bethesda does imagine him using magic sometimes. I've just always viewed the shouts used by Tiber Septim and the dragonborn as mere mortals answer to elven magic which I think is a good part of the lore, which is betrayed by using magic I feel.

Is it worth me spending the rest of my exp on magicka and having a 300/550/250 ratio at level 81 if only for the sake of being able to use it now and again? This would bring me up to level with a level 81 miraak I think - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Dragonborn:Miraak_(NPC)

The dragonborn does join the college of winterhold after all so it wouldn't be right if everyone there was better than him at magic considering he's the saviour of Skyrim and all

Uh...there's nothing elven about magic. It's a natural part of Mundus.

Shouting is explicitly referred to, even by 'typical' Nords, as an 'ancient form of magic'; it is the Dragonborn's ticket into the College, so I don't think that necessarily means he/she is interested in the conventional schools of magic. I think the lore-friendly answer is probably that the Dovahkiin is not totally opposed to magic, per say, but would probably prefer some schools over others. Guards will often comment, for example, positively on the school of Restoration, indeed, Priests seem to be held in high esteem. My answer is probably irritatingly on-the-fence, but I would say the Dovahkiin is probably a spell-sword, with an emphasis on melee combat and shouting. What would set him/her from whatever magic use there may be is that magic is not an academic pursuit, but a practical one.

Don't waste your time. The ideal of a "True" Dragonborn is an illusion. All portrayals are just as true as the next.
To indicate that one is true, is to say all others are false.
