THe truth about hacking why crytek has failed in crysis 2

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:01 am

Hi guys
first of all i did a bit of research and experimentation (please do not accuse me as being a hacker) into hacking/exploitation for Crysis 2. Its piss easy just using cheat engine and editing mem values in one method. Other methods rely on Crysis 2 being almost totally client sided with wep damage for MP being totally moddable with NOTEPAD. Also ranking can be done by editing the XP values for kills and achievements etc again all done with notepad. I am sorry to say this but countering the hackers requires an almost certain go back to drawing board start from scratch anti hack approach which has not been implemented in this case but should be in the near future.
Thanks

No re-wrtie is needed. They just need to make the .pak files take priority over modified configs.

Or maybe, oh I dunno. Make the game server-side?

But Crytek take cheats & cheating very seriously.

Odd then that they released a game that you can 'hack' with notepad :D

Or maybe they should have thought about this before releasing the game.
Just more proof they didnt give a sh-t about the PC-rls.
Kind of hard to edit your files on the consoles, right?

Arguably more evidence that most of their attention was focused on the console versions.

This happen coz it's a porting game, noone edit this things on console, but if u planning a pc game the server variable is the first things; it's like to create a data flow cripted with the password stored in clear in a text note....pathetic
