The Ultimate Bosmer Thread!

Post » Mon Oct 25, 2010 9:25 pm

So, probably went a little too specific with the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1093385-the-ultimate-nord-thread/, but basically:

Well-groomed, in-shape Nords with braids are the preference.

Unkempt and chubby Nords, not so popular.

And please, lots of face paint for both genders.

About the Bosmers

While all Arena really says is that they are strong, Daggerfall describes them as tall, intelligent and versatile. But, lately, they've become little, annoying targets of ridicule, who only really exist in the game world as merchants and fools.

I'm going neutral on this one. I want to see what others think.

As for the features, there has always been a range between kind of alien and very human.

I don't play Bosmers much, but it was fun learning about them.

Here are examples of http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v620/thelobo/Picture4-2.png?t=1274907433 and http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v620/thelobo/Picture3-3.png?t=1274907466 Bosmers.

I said short statured punchlines, choice of both, as long as its optional, I assumed "I hate you" was like a "maybe/dont care" choice lol, and because they are delicious.

I voted for the black beady eyes and the angular features.
I also think they should have sharp teeth and be scary aggressive cannibal monsters.

Just throwing it out there.

The weirder they look the better. It's nice to have non-pretty wood elves.

Just don't give them the damned annoying whiny voices they had in Morrowind and I'm good.

Something akin to this http://www.imperial-library.info/races/mw_woodelf.gif would be a good take on the bosmer.

In otherwords, shorter males, taller females. Give the males their beards back, along with horns (not lumps, please), and black eyes akin to MW for all.

It looks like two Morrowind Bosmers and a Grinch.

Anyway, I think I'd be cool with pointy teeth in a Bosmer. Especially if they stay short.

The bosmer are strictly meat eaters, so pointy teeth isn't out of the question, and makes them look more "corrupt" in the eyes of the altmer. The Grinch looking one can be ignored, as I really don't like it either and looks really out of place.

As a mainly-Bosmer player character... I don't want to look disgusting when I play.

That doesn't mean I don't want to look "not-human", but that freakish gremlin-thing in the Morrowind picture crawling up my staircase would give me nightmares for the rest of my life.

I'll sketch something up quick to give a general example of a good non-human, and a bad non-human take on them. Eh, the "bad" ones ended up looking interesting.

I would like to see the Wood Elves or else called Bosmer to look exactly like they did in Morrowind. For some reason the elves in Morrowind looked way cooler than the elves in Oblivion. And I want them to be as tall as Imperials at least. Because the Bosmer have a potential to look really cool if they looked like they did in Morrowind except as tall as Imperials. Also hair color variations like black hair. I don't know if they were able to have black hair in Oblivion but that would look cool. If it's just blond hair, that would not be good. The hair and face angles must look exactly like they did in Morrowind.

Really? i thought that the Altmer changed very little.

That's the point. All beauty is supposed to be gone. These are people who wear wheels on their heads as hats. They're ugly and dumb.

I say the Grinch stays. He's the picture of a cannibal. I think fangs would be rediculous.

How about make it so that 'prey' animals don't flee from them, but predatory ones still attack.

I think they should be a little shorter than imperials, assuming the males are around 6'0, I think the bosmer males should be in the 5'7 neighborhood.

Height-wise, Bosmer could range from the short MW types to "standard" Imperial size or thereabouts. I'd also like to see a range of facial features from the harsh and angular to the more "generic". Horns could be an interesting option, varying in length from "none" to "fairly short", but I'd hate to see it mandatory on all of them. Eyes should either be black or deep near-black for ALL of them, or "normal" for all; that should either be a universal feature for all Bosmer or not be used at all.

Predators should attack Bosmer, just like anyone else, although they might be given some racial means of pacifying animals. Of course, given the chance, any self-respecting predator should relish the idea of Bosmer on the menu. They're obviously tasty, since even Bosmer eat Bosmer.....

I liked their appearance in Morrowind, but I think they need to be treated a little more seriously and less like a joke. Those terrible voices... :(

In Oblivion I hated having to be so [censored] short just to play an awesomely gifted stealth character, so I would like some bosmer to be short and maybe some to be like Imperial height. While were at it, there should be a height variation in some other races aswell.

I don't know how the Bosmer were like before Morrowind. But out of Morrowind and Obilivion, I prefered them in Morrowind.

I think a raspier, more insidious voice would fit. Maybe even something close to the Morrowind Argonian voice.

They should be made into scary little things.

Imagine a gang of ten little creepy Bosmer bandits. Pouncing out of the woods and eating their victim before robbing it.

Incidentally, imagine a special bite ability for Bosmers.

Short, but not overly so... maybe the tallest of them would be about the same as an average imperial, with the average Bosmer height just a little shorter. I'd also like to see differences between "civilised" Bosmer - those who live in the cities - and some more "uncivilised." Bosmer in the cities may have flat teeth, dress in human style clothing, have sensible hair cuts, and basically look more human. While there could be communities of wild Bosmer in the forests, who sharpen their teeth, have wild unkempt hair, wear robes or rags, and seem more alien and unrecognisable... wild Bosmer could perhaps be safe from wild animals, while the habitualized ones may have lost their connection with nature and be more vulnerable. Also the wild ones may be more aggressive, attacking the player or other NPC's on sight.
