The Ultimate Choice-

Post » Fri May 20, 2011 6:54 am

I've seen a lot of "they may add this, they may not add that" etc. on the forums and topics.

Out of the selection of features I've seen that may or may not be added which do you think is the most important one to add if you could ONLY have it and none of the others.

Explain why that one has to make it into the game and why you believe it would be the most significant/most important addition...

Woo nice poll. Thats a hard one but I went for Spears over Vampires/Werebeasts... A close one tho! =)

EDIT: Because I like the film 300. And because it would make fighting dragons more believable

Yeah, the reason for this poll was to hopefully shed some light on the priorities of the community in general so that Bethesda might know where their efforts should be most concerted. I'm sure most of us would like to see all of the options added but If I could only choose one I'd have to choose a returning and revamped spell-making system. Perhaps using runes or ancient terminology to replace numerical measurements for things like power, element, effect on hit.. etc, written out in a spell book.

You could learn specific terms or words much like with dragon shouts from certain mages then combine the runes/terms together to get spells of varying effects & power. This could solve their whole "It doesn't feel like magic" problem by making the process of creating spells more connected with the lore and universe.

I can't believe the amount of people on these forums who get on to a topic to add nothing significant beyond increasing their post count.

This is a hypothetical thread if you hadn't noticed and it calls for intelligent arguments for or against these things not random rude posts pointing out what is blatantly obvious.

None of them is essential for my play style, but I think mounted combat would be the most interesting from that list, if done well.

It was a close call between spellmaking and more varied weapons, but the weapons got my vote.

Eh, I guess a greater variety of weapons types, not just weapons. Ohhh! how about a trebuchet, because the peasants are revolting! ;)

Yeah I wanted to make a shield and lance warrior.... Phalanx tactics ftw.

I love magic too much to betray it though ; )

My dream character is a shield/lance warrior bolstered by heavy lightning magic.

I'd have to say variety of weapons. I'd love to do spellcasting, as I have spent a lot of time thinking how it could be implemented, but all in all I'll survive as a mage no matter what, I REALLY want to make throwing weapons for my assassin characters though.

If I had to rank those 4, it'd be

Spellmaking
More weapons
...and I can't decide which of those other two that I could care less about.

(Hmm, probably mounted combat would be 4. Just because vamps & werewolves you could completely ignore except as another mob to kill, while Mounted Combat would probably end up being shoved at you in a quest. And since I honestly hope I don't have to ride anything in Skyrim, let alone fight on it..... meh.)

But if there was a "none of the above" choice, I'd probably pick that.

I've always wanted to be able to fight on horseback. It would make riding horses in the game more enjoyable. :teehee:

Where's the..
I really couldn't care less
Button? I chose the mounted combat one because I'd like to see a finishing move on a horse.

Where's the choice for "I don't feel particularly passionate about any of these things"?

That would get my vote.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the above post in time.

I intentionally left it out... If you don't have an opinion I suppose you could just not vote. I don't think anyone would honestly not want "EXTRA" content though, that's just absurd.

I don't think it's absurd if the time and resources of the game are dedicated to something that is deemed more important.

I'd like mounts and mounted combat, although I think it's the hardest one to pull off well of that list.

Ehh... well i often made my own spells in Oblivion. More wepons would be cool but the amount in Oblivion was somewhat fine. I never really used horses (fast travel made em useless (i want optional fast travel so i dont fall for the temptation). Already forgot the last one so i make my statement for it soon if i care enough.

Wait, werewolf OR vampire? What makes anyone think that vampires won't be included? Becoming a vampire has been in TES since Daggerfall, whereas werewolves were only in the Bloodmoon expansion of Morrowind. Becoming a vampire only requires a slight tweak of the player's face and some added spell effects. Easiest thing in the world. Whereas werewolves require custom animations a complete change of the player's body, not allowing the player to wear armor, having it take effect at night, etc. It's much more complicated.

I mean, if I have to pick one of those, I'm going to go with werewolves/vampires, but just for the vampires, but I think it's silly to include vampires, so if I had to choose a different one, well...I'd go with mounts/mounted combat. But then THAT'S only for mounts, and I think that is also unnecessary since the official trailer clearly shows a horse next to the windmill. No sense in including a horse in the game at all if you can't ride it. So since I don't really care about mounted combat, I guess my real vote goes to making my own spells, which I really don't care about since Skyrim is adding a new spell system where you can do a bunch of things with just one spell.

I see what your saying and I agree time and resources are limited, but this is simply a hypothetical.

If you could without constraint of time and resources "magically" add one of these to the game, which would it be.

So basically your vote is for "Everything that was in oblivion minus spell-making since I don't care"... I think you missed the point of the poll, which is to show which direction of development interests you the most.
