THE ULTIMATE FIX FOR ALL MOUSE PROBLEMS

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 7:10 pm

Why limit to 64 fps? If you want to prevent screen tearing, you'd need to set the FPS to 60 or 30. Standard monitor refresh rate is 60, anything above that will cause tearing.
64fps would definitely help, but limiting it to 60 or 59 should be about perfect. This has been standard practice for a long time now.
Maybe it's just me, but if I use an FPS limiter I get tearing even at 30 frames. Through CCC or the .ini file there's no tearing whatsoever. This is one fickle game... and I love every second of it.

Note that this will only fix your vertical mouse issues if your rig is able to maintain the same FPS constantly. As soon as it drops lower, your vertical sensitivity will also be lower. This is a workaround, not a fix.

So......not an "ULTIMATE FIX FOR ALL MOUSE PROBLEMS" then?

I don't see any wonky physics. Seems odd that you feel you know what's going on with everyone else's computer. Why not stick to commenting on what you see when you play instead of imaging what's going on for everyone else?

lol, I bet you're the type of person that also plays at default 60/65 FOV and thinks "it's just fine" also...what a joke.

It's a known fact that Y mouse axis and physics in Skyrim are linked to FPS.

... download Dxtory 2.0.109 from here http://dxtory.com/v2-download-en.html

Sorry, but I must disagree. This third party software will not fix what are probably regarded the main issues with the PC interface, ie the inability to click certain buttons in the various menus, mouse wheel scrolling that fails to select items in various menus correctly, etc. Only Bethesda themselves can address this in an official patch (or possibly a very good mod once all the tools are available). I would advise AGAINST installing any third party software in order to address issues with the game.

The fixes for the other issues you have posted, ie vsync, mouse sensitivity and acceleration have all been widely reported across the internet, so your thread was hardly worth the sensational uppercase and red text approach that you gave it.

The file is used for the FPS limiter and is safe.

To fix the problem you are describing, go into the Settings > Gameplay and then uncheck "360 Controller". It's enabled by default and is the cause of everything you described.

I have the same issue..I think its just cause of low fps (I can hit 40-50fps indoors, which is [censored] like 15-20fps in other games) I think.

It happens to me only indoors, when I have 60 FPS constant...

But it is how you described..it's sorta..jittery..it's hard to explain. It mostly happens if I have 2 spells equipped. But then last night it was happening when I didn't even have my hands up. So not sure. When it happens I am still at 60 FPS, no slowdowns..and in fact moving horizontally is still smooth.. makes no sense.

It basically looks like it is "skipping" or something..instead of smoothing moving down it jumps maybe 5 "parts" at a time.

Thanks nowai, but while unchecking that option improves some elements of mouse support, it does not correct the issues I've described. Some of the buttons within the menus of the UI are unclickable and it appears to be a design choice.

Being forced to hit hotkeys in the Items and Magic menus for things like 'Drop', 'Charge', 'Favorite', etc is an unusual design for a PC interface where players expect to be able to click on the buttons. Of course, consoles don't have this ability and have to rely on hotkeys and buttons, but we in the PC world utilise this wonderful thing called a 'mouse'.

The mouse wheel is a real issue and is certainly not by design. Often when talking to an NPC, the wheel does not correctly select the topic you click on, which results in the wrong thing being said. This can sometimes be disastrous in a multi-choice RPG. This issue has also been quite widely reported on.

Whilst Skyrim is an absolutely wonderful game, its UI does suffer very badly from that new 21st Century disease - Consolitis.

By the way, I wasn't suggesting that 'Dxtory' was unsafe - just useless for the issues I've described.

Looks like we are having the same problem! I'm thinking this will have to be resolved in an official patch, rather than workarounds. It seems directly tied to how the game handles the y-axis.

Nope. The poor mouse performance in the interface, clicks having no effect, scrolling misperformance and failure to select on click all continue with the 360 controller disabled.

Of course that POV is just fine. What are you 12? Everything you like is always the best way and you can't imagine anyone being ok with something different? Grow the hell up already and stop being such an ass.

Because the game engine clock runs at 64hz. Hopefully the fallout stutter remover will be ported to Skyrim.
