The Ultra-hardcoe Challenge

Post » Fri May 22, 2009 2:20 am

Don't worry, fellow console players. No mods needed. This is a fairly simple challenge, and here it is:

  • Must play in hardcoe (duh)
  • Sleep is required every 48 hours (minimum)
  • Sleep is only permitted in unowned buildings, or rooms you have rented/bought
  • You can *only* save the game before sleeping, never during your trip
  • Rex and ED-E cannot be used to store items
  • Difficulty must be Normal or Hard
  • You cannot eat/drink/inject when in [Danger]
  • HUD must be set to 0% opacity unless using Power Helmets/Ranger Vet. Helmet
  • You can't use your Pipboy while in [Danger]
  • Using the "Wait" feature is not permitted
  • You are permitted to 3 weapons, and only 2 of them can be two-handed

If you need a real challenge, give this a go. It basically makes the Fallout experience as difficult as possible.

Call of Pripyat is really a punishment if you don't invest days after days in it.......

As a PC user, i just use mods that make getting shot actually dangerous :ooo: Shame that console users have to invent their their own ways to make the game challenging.

Add a realistic weapon carry limit (one dual-handed weapon and one pistol) and I'm in.

Might be a bit difficult to constantly monitor all these things. Not using the Pip-Boy while in danger is a good one, though.

I don't get it, what about the wait feature makes it not hardcoe? If anything, it passes time so you have to eat/drink/sleep, so it would make sense to keep it.

Wouldn't be able to self-restrict myself like this.
I would forget about the rules when I play and mess it up.
Most of them just sound annoying anyway, very tedious.
