The undead and their means of being risen

Raise dead

it doesnt make sense in oblivion/morrowind that you can simply summon a skeleton from what appears to be a plane of oblivion! bones from earth go to oblivion to be summoned back to earth? i dont think so!!

i think all physical undead shouldent be summoned randomly.. but instead you are given a SPELL that you can cast on corpses to put a friendly spirit in them!

this means that you can kill characters to gain allies. how interesting some possibility could be? you could assassinate a character, raise him, get him to fight the town guards and his death will be blamed upon the guards rather than you!! perhaps you could run from a giant ogre into a tomb full of skeletons, spray your raise dead spell everywhere and watch as your newfound army overwhelms the ogre!!

different corpses should take different amounts of magika from the player. a regular human, skeleton or mud crab will not need much.. a dragon or troll will. secondly casting the spell for longer on a corpse should make the corpse stronger. (and of course, your skill with conjuration)

this would also help greatly in making a difference between undead summons and daedra summons! daedra summons would remain the same. (this would not effect ghosts)

Soul release

what if you could release the spirits of your soul trapped npcs?

ok.. what if soul gems were equipable? empty soul gems in your hand would automaticaly absorb any creature you kill's soul!! when you have a filled soul gem in your hand you may release the soul from it so that it may fight by your side as a ghost,

ghost summon
this would be a spell that calls a random type of ghost to you although one suitable for your location (not so many ice wraiths in the city).. if you are lucky you might get several ghosts are a dangerous type.. if you are unlucky you might get a weak ghost, a ghost you cant control or a few props might fly around.

I think in lore, the skeletons you summon are pretty similar to you summoning a daedra, they come from a realm of Oblivion (i cant remember which one). That is the reason why they dont stay around very long and people dont see you as a necromancer for doing it.

Yay for the Raise Dead spell. You could aquire a Raise Spell in OB either by using the Staff of Worms or a Greater Power from the SI, but they were timelimited and that was quite annoying. Give me(or rather those who actually play something similar to necromancers) a permanent zombie/skeleton minion with the option to dismiss and give simple commands. Town guards and civilians should have a reaction to these minions(one way or another).

The Raise Dead spell from Oblivion certainly had some room for improvement... I agree it should be on an unlimited timer (or at least a hell of a lot longer than 60 seconds) and it was somewhat buggy too, sometimes the people you resurrected would start attacking you which kind of defeated the purpose.

Soul Release sounds cool, and it reminds me of the quest you have to do to join the Dark Brotherhood, where you have to kill Rufio as the Rite of Passage, and then later on during another quest Lucien Lachance gives you a scroll of Summon Rufio's Ghost... well, that makes it pretty clear that there are people in Tamriel who know how to do this sort of stuff, so eventually they're going to have to let us do it too

i found it on UESP
"Soul Cairn

The Soul Cairn is a realm of tombs where the undead seemingly roam free and invulnerable to any harm. Rather than being aligned to any Daedric prince, it is controlled by a race calling itself the Ideal Masters."
this myght be the plane of oblivion you summon your skeletons lol

Hmm...if necromancy isn't illegal in Skyrim, I guess it could be cool. I would totally use it

I really like this idea, Also to make it seem realistic the longer you have a raised corpse with you or the more damage it takes the closer it gets to looking like a skeleton or zombie. i.e If it gets is arm sliced up it might sever but it keeps on fighting, even if it ends up looking like the Headless Zombie from Oblivion.
