Anyone else notice how the Undead in the background of http://i70.servimg.com/u/f70/15/40/10/16/skyrim10.jpg screenshot looks like he is holding a Haldberd or some sort of Pole-Axe?

No, looks like a 2h axe. For it to be a halberd, it needs to look like a spear (roughly the height of a person and longer, and with a point), with an axe head and a hammer/hook on the back.

To those of you who keep mistaking axes as halberds, http://www.aurorahistoryboutique.com/products/A000237.jpg. Notice it's pretty much a spear, with an axe head and contains a hook or point on the back (sometimes a hammer). Halberds act so that it can hold against charging cavalry (spear point), grab ahold of the cavalryman and pull him off (the hook end), and the axe to allow top heavy slashing. However, they're quite [NUMMIT] against very close combat (too little space for a large weapon), often requiring the user to switch to a side short sword.

Difficult to say for certain, we don't know how far the pole extends groundwards and the two foreground draugr are blocking view of the head. The bladed end, what I can see of it, doesn't really look like the other two axes in the picture but the pole does.

I was actually more thrilled to see the beards, myself. But, I'm weird like that. I do like their armor though, think it's lootable?

The lefty or the one whose weapon we cannot see?

The lefty has an axe for sure and the one befind him seems to wield an identical weapon, liike at the lefty zombies right shoulder, you can barely see a piece of the axe up there? Either it is an axe, or a halberd, but the angle seems somehow wrong for a halberd..

I think its an axe.

I don't think there will be a classic "halberd", but a berdiche, yes.

Not really, no. I notice it looks like he's holding the same axe (non-pole) as the two in the left part of the image.

It looks like a long axe to me, look like twohand axes is far longer and more realistic looking than in Oblivion.
I guess the halberds in the game will mostly look and feel like very long axes, Hopefully we get stabbing moves for them and swords.

Had been very cool if axes and halberds could be used on both sides, waraxes often have a blunt hammerhead on the backside of the blade for used against plate armor.

I think I can make out that weapon behind the front undead with the axe. Gotta look close, as the head looks pretty hidden.

Weapon? Probably lootable. Armor? No, probably not.

Yeah probably, but look at the helmets? One is not wearing one. Possibility for lootable helmets?

True, so the helmet is probably lootable, but just the helm.

To me, it looks like a two handed, double headed axe, seen edge on, not a spear or pole arm. The one in the front has the axe turned slightly, so you see the side of the blade, but the one in the back has more of the cutting edge dead on to the viewer.

Please look at http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/5646/543639576075909c1391o.jpg and stop debating. It is not a spear. It is an axe same as the one in the hands of the first undead, only held in a different position.

Well, it's a good thing that the two weapons don't look all that alike.
