[WIPz]The Underdark: Shadows of Old Shanatar

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:23 pm

Well, the Chitine are a pretty docile race, more likely to avoid conflict then fight, so I didn't worry about fighting, the arms just kind of hang there. I am thinking of making a few more underdark creatures. Next will probably be troglodytes, and maybe some more large slow non-aggressive types. When you are made of stone and only worry about eating more stone you don't really think about Ithilids or Drow.

Nice job on Corthian, really good work. I need some tips from you as well. I began remodelling the Kou-Tan over again to make it resemble the traditional instead of a fish head. I'm ready to start the textures, but I can't seem to lower my multires levels and it won't let me do textures until I do. Fa is around 960k I think.

and... another little something I was working on as well. Not sure how to implement it though, as a helm or a head?

Let me know what creatures you're working on, because I'm also doing the same as well. I was thinking of doing the Cloaker and Phaerim absolutely. Need a Phaerim.

well, I was going to list the link for the entire body with the head textured with the whole model textured in yellow/greens but I then I realized I can't show bodies.

First, with the Kuo-Tan, have you tried applying the multires? A lot of the time modifiers and stuff aren't functional until you do. The Githyanki head looks good, I looking forward to fighting some Gish, just remember not to merge or delete or add any new verticies or it will screwup the face morphes. I find sometimes in blender it helps when working in solid mode to toggle textures with ctrl+T. I will list the creatures I am making. I am already 80% percent done with the Trogs, they are turning out pretty awesome. Ankeg, Delver, Grimlock, Hobgoblin, and Shadow. I think they could all fit in well.

I started the Phaerim but I'm getting ahead of myself since I've not finished any of the earlier ones I mentioned, even though the Kou-Tan is only a head update.
The Kou-tan has several levels of multires, I think I took it to 7. Yeah I know that's kind of high, but I started lowering them and when trying to apply textures, I erred and was noted that I need to remove them. Don't figure.
Now the Gythyenki pic I showed you is only the head, if you want to see more of it complete just browse my link through all my pics for the latest on that. I think it's going to be nothing but armor, since I did some smoothing and layering on the face to get that unique nose they have (essentially no-nose). So that means I probably should pass it to you to merge with the rest of the armor you have for it. It has a roberts body and the only thing it lacks is the eyes and teeth. The teeth I wanted to create new ones but haven't gotten around to it.

Sure I'll take the head, I finished the Trog http://img686.imageshack.us/i/troglodyte.jpg/. I have a question, is V.1 out or is it still V.51 1b? Just want to make sure I am up to date. I think I'll make the shadow next shouldn't take long it won't really need a texture.

Edit: I finished the shadow http://img52.imageshack.us/i/shadowpic.jpg/. The material completely non-reflective and shadeless. Also I made a new skeleton that just falls through the ground when killed. It really makes the shadows seem other worldly.

Version 1.0 is out, while 1.1 is the OMOD. That final release breaks Illi the Mindslayer companion mod though. I still have to fix that. Deepfreeze changed some scripts or I wasn't aware that he was using scripts that used an old name and I changed the name to account for the new textures and meshes. So, still have to fix that.
Version 0.59.1b is the most stable version so I left it there under OLD files, the new final version corrects a few issues and closes the mod. One of the most helpful corrections is the implementing message box triggers upon reaching certain points to provide a clue for the player of where to go next and where they are in the Underdark.

Troglodytes look good too, is that a modified voronoi tex? The shadow is good, but can we manipulate the mesh to not look so scampish? :D if that's a word and if you know what I mean. By the way, as I mentioned, the http://www.4shared.com/file/p9xhraLa/GYTHHEAD.html is not done but I did attach it to a body and most likely should be a creature or armor. I don't know if it will work yet for a head replacement. I had to jut the jaw out, cave the nose in, bring the brows down, and reshape the ears.

Is that a reshaped Grummite? Would be cool if it was and it's stature and anims would work well for the Trog.

The Trog head is made from scratch, the body is based on the Robert's male, and the texture is also 100% me. I will see what I can do about the shadow and the gith head.

I got the head and ears to work as just that a head and ears. I had to reconformulate the mesh, so all but the eye morphs work, I also adjusted the UV map a bit.

Cool. I started with an Intellect devourer, but ended up with this...

it isn't any Intellect Devourer! That's for sure.

Duergar ridable mount -> the Earth Dragon young.

... a ridable mount for the Underdark, but it's meant for the evil Duergar Dwarves. The mount has Bellilith (the drow abyssal spider used for war against the Sverfneblin ) armor. I also have a ridable spider already with attached bones, but I can't get the animation correct. :brokencomputer:

The mod is complete for ShadowLance's work, I need to add the following: WorldMap, models/textures for several races and creatures, Metallicow+Mr. Sorry of Balmora+RedDragonDreamer's work, hopefully Nivea's as well, Corthian's models, and the big one - the major cell conversions which would be more of your concern. It isn't ready to release, but it's close. Texturing would not take long but the conversion is. I am also doing modeling+texturing for MERP and the region generations of Emyn Muil/Rauros Falls. I can't provide references for you yet if you are interested in those, unless it specifically in the fungal lake region. I can also provide that region for you to examine for checking references and for you to get to know the area. Shadow did a very good job, you'll be impressed.

I apologize on the slow progression, but I'm also working on the MERP project as well, modelling/texturing and generating exteriors. I am trying to juggle the both, working as much as I can on both.

Recently, I've been working on the MERP project generating the Rauros Falls and Emyn Muil regions, where the Parth Galen, Amon Hen/Amon Lhaw reside. As I recall it is where the fellowship of the ring first broke. Well, that's kind off topic, but it shares the same bad news as The Underdark suffers as of now.

I had bought a new pc that received some bad vid updates which consequently created a crash. I've checked it out and reports state the same from other owners of that pc. Anyway, the crash caused a partition failure and reboot to restore from backups. I had backups, fortunately but was 2 months old. Inspite that I also backup files on a separate external drive, my restore attempts failed which required a full restore to factory defaults and a complete HD wipe. Ugh. I've invested in some good deep scan file retrieval software to get what I can. Not only is it a slow process but as always, nothing is perfect and I'm not sure I'll retrieve everything. This has stalled me on working on Underdark and MERP.

Progress on restoring the files is going good so far, but it's been a good week to recover just 10%. Inherrent of that software? I don't know, but so far it's going well and so, this project is on a temporary stall for now. Sorry. I'll keep updates on my progress in retrieving everything.

No offense but that female warrior sounded like she was enjoying getting the snot beat out of her.

Can I ask what mod is that?

I'm assuming that you meant in a video where my player character was voicing, so that would be http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13329 using Imoen.

Insanely slow, but better than fast and nil recovery I guess. To many a times have I read about mishaps with the HD on these boards :(

I hope when the process is finished you will have it all back Aoikani. I will return to Underdark soon - I am still bug testing and tweaking my game; must be some 60+ hours installing this game :shocking:
