The Unofficial Animating Thread

Next frame... moves limbs a little, adjust the location of one character... next frame.. repeats... next frame.. repeats.. next frame...

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

So im currently using Pivot Stickfigure to make a little two-three minute cartoon for a school project, and good lord how do people do this for a living? Though im sure Pivot Stickfigure is not the best choice in animating, its the only one I know of that's free and doesn't require to much practice to use.

I was wondering if any of you know some good backround/figure/enviroment downloads I should get for Pivot for future projects, and what other animation programs you would recommend. Also, does anyone know how I could add sound to this?

Feel free to discuss animating programs and show off your spunky creations if you have any in this thread!

Yes...

You'd have to take the file and add sounds to it in a movie editing program.
I'll have to post some of my animations later, once I get them on a USB drive at school. I can't help you in the way of free animating programs, but at my school we got a 3 year license for 3dsMax when we enrolled in the class, but I dunno if your school has something like that.

And honestly, pivot is the most rage-inducing program I've used
:P

Alright, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrkTakiUNtY abomination surfaced on Friday. I had been working on the Gumby mesh for the past week or so. It was my first time using Character Studio, and I didn't bother adjusting the bone envelopes before setting up the footsteps.

I hate it when that happends---even more so when I mistakenly delete my projects on my thumbdrive. Now that gets my blood boiling.
