The Bug List! v.2

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 2:01 pm

I am not going to read all 5 pages, but DEVS might want to make sure the random animals, like deer, moose, etc. etc. foxes are still right, I have not seen em running around like I did before the patch, but I am not paying as much attention to it as I did, I am just watching people play the game at the moment and not playing. Seems the butterflies don't move like they used too. Might just be my imagination, hell have me looking at the game all crooked now...

Ya all I am seeing now are bunny rabbits about every 2 mins.. Ya watching a bear fighting a bunny rabbit...

All the rabbits remind me of Asheron's call.

Add to the list of bugs, Merchants in every town and every building won't let me sell/buy items from them, gives me the option to see what good they've got, but then the side bar with the items menu never appears. tried everything to fix it. just wont work. even tried loading earlier files.
Just to confirm this has happen to me as well. Also because of this I cannot start or finish quests.

wow, good job on compiling this list. these are things i can confirm:

- Bookshelves broken, can not take books off them
- Armor stands STILL not displaying armor properly
- Issues with placing and removing weapons from weapon racks and cases
- Ice wraith corpses getting stuck in air
- can't finish the misc bounty kill giant quest says return to skald in dawnstar for the bounty however i have collected it and the option has disappeared
- I can't absorb some dragon souls (specifically frost dragons, I've only met 1 elder dragon since the patch, which i was able to absorb), their skin remains intact and they don't turn into skeletons
- Sometimes have to press the button multiple times to initiate conversation choices
- Followers randomly disappear and cannot be found, must reload a save where they are still present to continue
- When a follower disappears a new one cannot be recruited as the game believes that the follower is still there
- An NPC with the name of Louis Lotrush is getting Stuck outside the whiterun stables (top half of body only visible) and is duplicating - Up to 4 Louis's in one players game
- When storing to much items in a chest/commode, when scrolling through the items it goes very slow to the point of storing an item, waiting 10 seconds and then get the option to store another. The same goes for retreiving items
- Some people have the same dialogue as another NPC but this isn't wright. Example: Torbjorn Shatter-Shield of Windhelm says the same dialogue as Embry of Riverwood. "My favorite drinking buddy, let's get some mead" and things like that

i believe the only thing i can add is from the quest "repairing the phial", where qiuntus navale won't initiate the line to accept the 3 items. as a result, it won't let me complete the quest.

Esbern is completely gone on my game for the main quest "Alduin's Wall". Delphine (or whatever her name is) is still there but Esbern is necessary to move any further. So unless I want to completely start over (not going to) or Bethesda tells me how to fix it, looks like I'm done with Skyrim...

I can also confirm that blessing of Talos does nothing, has done so since prior to the patch.

And I think I may have just (maybe) discovered a possible cause of broken bookshelves, though I haven't attempted to confirm this by repeating it . .
but my bookshelf in the ritten home seemed to be working fine until I took a book off the bookshelf by reading it and then pressing X to take it instead of taking it through the storage menu. After that, I got the message "press x to activate" but it did nothing, I could no longer even open up the bookshelf menu.
Right after, I was able to load books on a separate shelf of the bookcase, but going into the shelf a second time gave me the bug everyone else is describing, where stored books fail to display. The third time I tried to access the shelf, I got the same glitch as I got with the first shelf, couldn't enter the storage screen at all.

I am about to reload and try to load my books on again. This time I will be careful not to remove and books without first going into the storage menu. Will see if this prevents the error from occurring.

Oh and here is an unrelated but annoying and all to common occurrence. Sometimes corpses will get a limb stuck in a door, the floor, or a container. When this happens, they flop about incessantly like they are being electrocuted or having a seizure, and make a constant thumping sound. Amusing at first, but annoying after it happens for the 15th time.

I can also confirm that npcs will often follow you into interior locations after exiting a dialogue, and sometimes after even just talking to you because you targeted them or entered their proximity. For an example, see the one eyed beggar outside the cruel-sea store (Radiant something isn't it?) He does this a lot.

I can confirm as well the bug with becoming Thane of Riften. The Jarl told me she would make me thane after i purchased a house, I did so, the quest told me to visit the thane, the marker hovers over her head, but no new dialogue options appear.

The servants quarters in my Riften house is also unfurnished, though I suspect this is because I have not been named Thane and earned a housecarl . . .

Finally just deleted the patch. Playing patchless currently. Debating on just returning the game. From what I understand the PS3 has a divided memory pool. 256 for system and 256 for graphics. As we've all seen 50 or so hours of gametime is probably going to push the system memory to the breaking point. Short of Bethesda releasing a patch that gets rid of 3/4ths of the game props like multiple books, ruined books, and junk items like pots, pans, and whatever, there's no way this game will ever run smoothly on the PS3.

I'm not a really devoted fan, and I hate console wars, but I really regret getting the PS3 version (I should have known better honestly) and I'd never ever recommend the PS3 version as a suitable platform for such a large game as this.

I doubt we'll ever get a suitable patch to make this game good for us PS3 owners. Probably better off just getting my 30 bucks at gamestop.

I can't marry anyone. I've completed the requirements for Lydia, Alea and all the other companions as well as a couple of others and they won't marry me. :sadvaultboy: More importantly while my armor displays don't work properly I noticed that when I placed an Amulet of Mara on the dummy and then removed it all the other armor appeared. Since then whenever I leave my home (the one in Windhelm) and return the armor is invisible again and there is a new Amulet of Mara on the dummy that I can remove and make the armor display properly. This essentially gives me unlimited amulets. Bookshelves are broken in my house as well. I can place books on there once but the books don't appear on the shelf and I can't activate the shelf afterwards. Similar to the Battle of Solitude Bug I'm having a problem with the battle before that (Can't remember the Fort name, starts with an H and is the last fort you take before solitude). The arrow appears but nobody is there and nobody spawns even though the quest updates. (One time the stormcloaks were there and disappeared after the quest updated). Tons of freezing problems since the PS3 4.0 update, game is almost unplayable.

I can confirm this happening with me:

- Random dialogue with NPCs will pull them in or out of buildings you're entering or leaving.

Bookshelves broken, can not take books off them

- Shouts causing frame rate issues and brief lock ups (namely ice from)

I found several bugs related to zombies. Draugh, bandits always turn to ashes when i change areas.
Sometimes they just ran away from battles or stand there doing nothing.

My staff of summoning storm atronach stopped working.

Also Thalos blessing give the benefit but it shows 0% on the active effects.

Suppose I'll add this to this thread: I'm about 80 hours in, and I no longer get battle music. Whenever a fight starts, the game's soundtrack doesn't change. Not even during dragon battles or other boss battles.

This is the glitch that's finally pushed me into retiring the game. I'll be playing no further until 1.03 is released, and if the music issues isn't sorted, it'll go right back on the shelf until 1.04 is released in January.

I've played about 20 hours since I downloaded 1.2. In all of that time, I haven't killed a single dragon. Not one. Not only are they glitching out on me, by flying sporadically, flying into mountains, flying backwards, etc., but they've all stopped aggroing me completely. I thought that was one of the things that was supposed to be fixed by the patch? It rarely ever happened to me with 1.1, and now it's the norm.

I have been experiencing a vast majority of the problems listed on this thread. The following is only a scratch on the surface of the nonsense this game has spewed since the moment I began playing.

I am to the point that I have just about given up on Skyrim. Today I had a major problem when I attempted to get on my horse. He was standing too close the the entrance of a cave, and when I clicked to ride I was also loaded back into the cave I had just left. Instead of being loaded into the cave however, I was loaded into a bizarre limbo, a flat landscape devoid of plants that stretched as far as I could see, with a grey-ish looking 'sky' and a couple of mounds that I assumed were meant to represent the hills inside the cave. I could move around, but was unable to actually locate the 'exit', could not fast travel to leave the area, and ended up having to reload a game save prior to entering the cave in the first place because the auto-saves all converted to the moment I loaded into the limbo.

Although that problem was easily fixed, it was still a bit annoying to lose play time. The lag issues and having around 200lbs of bullship in my inventory that I can NEVER drop, blows, hard core. I have always been a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls, but I feel like I got cheated out of a year of waiting so Bethesda could make a quick buck. The supposed fix with the patch only served to make it worse. My husband's saved game disappeared off the Playstation completely, the jumpy lag has taken over everywhere I go, and no matter how many times I restart the PS3 and delete saves(I keep only one main file and the default auto-saves) I can barely move. Dawnstar and other places with the ocean waves and heavy snow are now completely off limits. My game freezes upon loading into a town like those.

Speaking of snow, my shout to clear the weather does not work at all if it is snowing or raining. The fog will clear occasionally, but the snow/rain remains. The lag that kicks up when the weather is on is a nightmare.

Dragons not only fly backwards, but they fly under the landscape as well. Where it is not only impossible to do anything to them, but I remain unable to fast travel because they follow me across the world underneath the map. Occasionally, when I find them above ground, they are stuck with their heads burrowed under the ground, and no matter how much I try to kill them they simply never die. They are super easy to kill in this position, but they never actually die until I run far far away until I finally get a kill message. I cannot turn in a couple of dragon bounties because the dragons never actually died even though I was told to go turn in the quest and got my absorbed souls. The zombie dragon bodies simply flop around forever and I never get a soul or have the ability to loot them.

Items hanging out in my inventory started within the first hour of game play. At first I thought maybe I needed the items for another quest, but no, I will simply be stuck holding every item that could potentially be quest related for the rest of eternity. That would not be so bad, except items that stack get heavy after so many of them. Why the heck does my game think I need 7 Amulets of Talos, even though I have never picked up a quest that asked for one?? Nonsense.

I did manage to ditch Dravin's Bow by equipping it and giving it to a weapon rack, in case anyone wanted to know how to drop that.

I really really want to love this game. I really do not want to finally break down and get a refund. For the love of my sanity, if you(Bethesda) are not going to properly patch the game, at least give us a command prompt on the PS3 so we can fix the damn thing ourselves! I have to say the modders out there do 1000x the job that the devs at Bethesda seem to be (in)capable of.

I have the same problems with dragons. Occasionally a dragon will aggro a mob on the ground, like a bear, but after I kill the mob the dragon was targeted on, it continues to fly in endless circles looking for the mob. If I don't kill the mob, the dragon flies in endless circles dive-bombing but never actually killing the mob. No matter how many times I hit the dragons I cannot get aggro, they will not land, and when they do decide to land, they go for my horse.

Does your horse take off across the countryside chasing dragons and such? I have to dismount at stables and run a long way to whatever my objective is just to keep my horse from killing itself. If anything is remotely close enough to attack me, whether it does or not, the horse will immediately take off upon dismount and start a fight with everything in a 10 mile radius. The other day I had to chase my horse across the map from Whiterun, only to find it wanted to kill a Mudcrab I aggrod around Riften.

It would make more sense to let the horse just die, but he was a quest horse and I happen to like him.

There are a bunch of house decorating bugs that haven't been fixed, which is a big deal for me because getting to display all my 'trophies' and unique items has always been one of my favorite things about these games!

  • Items placed on tables or shelves are scattered all over the floor when returning to your house later. There are only a few very RARE occasions where something actually stayed put.
  • Weapon plaques and racks are unclickable, I don't even see the click x to activate message so I can't use them.
  • When putting any items on a mannequin the whole portion that would be covered by that item becomes invisible instead of showing the item.
  • I filled a bookshelf with books and as soon as I left the menu to 'store' them the books didn't appear on my bookshelf, are no longer in my inventory AND I can no longer 'activate' the bookshelf even though the message is there telling me I can.

And I was sooo excited about the new ways to decorate with the shelves, racks and mannequins but now I can't decorate at ALL!

I have the exact same problems. After raiding several Dwemer ruins I happily set about decorating my dining room for 2 hours. I have to say placing objects in Skyrim is no easy task! The next day I loaded my game, walked into my house, and an explosion of objects went off. Everything in the house that was not already there when I bought it went flying. Another time I walked into a dungeon, tried to move a bucket, and suddenly had it ripped out of my grip by mysterious forces which then launched the bucket into my head and killed me.

There are "holes" / "bubbles" in the pool of water at the bottom of Reachwater Rock that if you swim into cause you to fall as if you were in empty air and not water, preventing you from surfacing.

This bug happened to me too .

The most irritating bug I have encountered is being unable to complete the Companions questline . SPOILER AHEAD
After returning with the witches heads , everyone is standing around in the aftermath of the Silver Hand attack . Everyone is " busy " and can't be talked to . Vilkas meanwhile , is strolling around like it's another sunny day in Skyrim , without a care in the world . His conversation options are the same as always , training , why did he join the Companions , etc . No final quest options , it's like nothing's happened and he doesn't see all the dead bodies around him . I was really wanting to use the Skyforge to smith some unique items , so this is a major bummer . This happened pre-patch btw , and is still broken post patch .

The above mentioned bugs and some random lag were my only problems pre-patch . Post patch is a whole other story .
Within the first 20 minutes of play , my game froze for the first time , I'm up to 4 now . The lag is still there , and seems to happen a bit more often .
Textures are worse than I've ever seen them , waterfalls , and gauntlet details are especially affected .
My follower has somehow " lost " 4 different weapons I've given him , and resorts to fist fighting , rendering him practically useless as anything other than a pack mule . The weapons are not in his inventory when I check .
Upon exiting Honningbrew Meadery today , I observed a dragon fly into the mountain to the right , and disappear . A short while later , once again exiting the meadery , I saw a guard fighting a dragon . The dragon had half it's health gone , and was walking backwards on the ground . The animations were jerky , presumably because dragons were never meant to walk backwards . The skeleton thrashed around for a good 5 minutes after being killed .
While in the area of the meadery , I noticed that the Nirnroot under the bridge downstream , and also the one upstream , are both still glowing even though the plant has already been harvested . I'm not sure if this is a worldwide glitch , those are the only 2 I've noticed so far .
A couple hours ago , while randomly exploring , I stumbled upon Eldersblood Peak . After making it up to the word wall , and absorbing the shout , I went around the right side to try to get the elder dragon to attack me ( he was just hanging out hovering behind the right side of the word wall above North Cold Rock Pass ) . When he saw me , the controller vibrated , and he flew backwards in a circle then fell into the mountain . His wingtips were poking out , and he could still attack and hurt me with his flame , but I couldn't damage him , even when I jumped down the mountain to attack his wings . I had to walk all the way back to Rorikstead before his health bar disappeared from my screen and I could fast travel .

I wasn't able to play wednesday , and have only played about 4 hours today , so in a day and a half I've encountered more bugs than I did in the 155 hours of play pre-patch . I'm not too upset about any of them ( with the exception of the Companions one ) , Skyrim is still an awesome game . I just think it's funny that the patch that was supposed to fix things ended up creating far more glitches , at least in my game , than it fixed .

Did you two complete the quest Aftershock? This happened to me after completing that quest. Loading a save prior to finishing this quest fixed the problem for me.

However, I didn't test with vendors around the world, once I saw I couldn't trade, train, or aquire new quests from mage guild, I reloaded.
