I want Valenwood so bad. I honestly would rather not go to Black Marsh until everywhere else has been done. I feel like if they do it it should be next-next gen or later just to be sure they get it to be as glorious as it is hyped up to be.
They way I see it I see TES I-IV as it's own story arc: The Last days of the Empire.
Skyrim started a new story arc with VI:Elsweyr, VII: Valenwood, VIII: Alinor/Summerset Iles/ Dominion the theme being the Aldmeri Dominion.
TES IX: Blackmarsh could start a story arc leading into Akavir, being alien lands and all.
Skyrim's NPC's were too "detailed" anyway, I don't care about random NPC #187's backstory, and don't know why they'd spew it at me, a random stranger, just because I talked to them. Move that writing to quests and other actual full length stories.
But what this poll is missing is asking about art direction, or rather Oblivion and Skyrim's lack of it. Just ask which art direction appealed to people the most and you'd almost certainly see Morrowind as the vast majority. The next game would benefit greatly from most architecture and creatures and even the landscape being concepted out and given a story, Skyrim's villages and even castles were about as generic and non interesting as they came, especially compared to Morrowind having all these unique architectural styles with a history and story behind them and how created them and why they were there.
Then again, calling out Skyrim's story and lore in general as wanting isn't anything new.
Just like anyone else, I think it would be cool to see how Black Marsh would have been in gameplay, but unfortunately there is no way the next TES could be located there. 90% of Black Marsh is completely uninhabitable for anyone that aren't argonians. To place the next TES in Black Marsh would break tons of lore.
Not exactly what is meant by "Godlike" in the poll, but I don't think it's right either way.
The Nerevarine in lore is pretty much a "God", just like in Oblivion and Skyrim. You kill Dagoth Ur, Almalexia and you can also "kill" Vivec. What the Nerevarine accomplishes is pretty "Godlike" in my opinion.
If the meaning of it is that your character in gameplay is "Godlike" in Oblivion and Skyrim, but not in Morrowind, then I have to disagree.
I have found that your character in Morrowind starts off weak, but he/she gets extremely powerful. I got bored with Morrowind because it was way too easy. There are a lot of complaints abput Oblivion and Skyrim being too easy, when in Morrowind you can easily go through the entire game (after level 15 or so) without having to worry about dying at all. After I got to level 13 I didn't die once, and I played up to level 27 or something like that. (on normal difficulty)
Well, a lot of people tend to scrutinize Oblivion and Skyrim a lot more harshly than Morrowind. Kind of like how people like to talk about how Morrowind's conversation system was awesome and that voice actors have made conversations shallow even though most people's conversation topics in Morrowind were copy paste with each other. Yes, each person had a lot of convorsation choices, but if you exhaust them all on one NPC then you never need to talk to another NPC about it again unless you forget what they said; not to mention the lack of characterization in the NPC's.
That being said, Morrowind is tied with Skyrim for my favorite TES. I really wish there was an option to play without map markers. All Beth would have to do is make directions appear in your journal, but I digress.
