I'm experiencing the "App no longer opens even though it did a second ago and yes, I restarted my phone and yes, I closed all other apps" bug.
I bought $10 worth of lunch boxes a few days ago but I'm going to go to Apple for a refund. I was happy to pay at the time as a tip to the developers for the game, but this is unacceptable. If need be I'll contact my bank to reverse the transaction there, but either way Bethesda will not keep my money if the product can't function on a fundamental level.
I've played Fallout Shelter since the release date with no issues. Although, earlier today, the app started crashing in the second loading screen. The issue got worse throughout the day today. Now, the game crashing in the first loading screen. I am running the latest iOS on my iPad 3. I have also installed the update from today. I have put a lot of time and money into this game, so I hope this issue is resolved soon. Not to mention, all the other people that are having the same issue.
Updated today. Still can not load my vaults. (paid for luncboxes in both)
not sure if this is a "bug" per se, but my vault is at capacity, and my new dweller queue is now full (according to radio station).
I cannot "collect" my radio station and the people in it a "loafing around"
iPad Air. 100+ Dwellers. Worked fine from release until a week ago. Now crashes after a few seconds showing the load screen. Update today has not alleviated the issue.
Spent $20 so far on lunch boxes, which I guess is my foolish mistake now. I refuse to attempt to uninstall/reinstall because of completely losing my lunch boxes and my vault.
Hope its fixed soon. Even then I will likely not buy anymore lunch boxes due to paranoia.
everything that CystM said, same trouble here, ipad air 2 just sitting here waiting for this to be fixed no play for 6 days straight :*(
Just reporting that I updated the app and it still crashes when I try to open it.
Updated, and the game still crashes with the same symptoms.
I get some minor but random UI and graphical bugs running FO:S on my iPhone 6 on iOS 8. But no crashes or anything major like that.
Some example:
- sometimes I can't tap on or drag a certain dweller, later on I can
- sometimes when I de-select a dweller their stats window stays open
- sometimes the HP bars don't appear during a disaster (seems to happen more often when the room is zoomed in when the disaster starts)
- sometimes the HP bar won't disappear from a dweller after a disaster (it disappears when i zoom in, but it's still there when I zoom out)
- it's too easy to click on individual dweller when fully zoomed out. I tap a room that has resources to collect and dweller to level up, and it taps right through both of those and I get the dweller stats. Or I want to drag the vault around and I end up moving a dweller.
I also have grown tired of waiting for any real reply here. I have called Apple and had all of my in app purchases refunded. Guess my vaults are dead.
This is exactly what's happening to me. One Athletics Room in particular is now a ghost town, and none of the dwellers who are assigned to it stay in the room. All four of them are floating through ceilings and floors, up and down, constantly.
Edit: now with pictures!

it works fine untill the LAST UPGRADE 1.0.3, now crashes to home at load screens. iPad Air 8.3 iOS.
iPhone 6, iOS 8.4.
Playing with a WiFi connection but no internet still perma-crashes the game.
Details: after update was released, I deleted my old perma-crashed version and downloaded the updated version. I made it to around 20 dwellers, then I was checking it on campus, where the WiFi requires a portal sign-in. Boom, bye-bye.
At least this time I didn't get Three Dog in the initial lunchboxes. I don't think I could bear losing Three Dog again.
Fallout Shelter ran perfectly on my iPad 4 until yesterday morning (July 10). Now the app crashes on the loading screen. I understand the issues with people trying to run the app with incompatible devices, but the problem also affect people using devices that are compatible. I have been a Fallout/Bethesda fan since the beginning, but I am really disappointed about all the issues with Fallout Shelter. What makes it worse, is the lack of attention being spent on a solution. That was proven by the yesterday's update that did not resolve the crashing issues. I hope Bethesda proves me wrong and develop a solution to this issue. I have been a fan of the Fallout series since the beginning, but this makes me worried about Fallout 4. I am running Fallout Shelter on a iPad 4 with iOs 8.4.
