Update: I received a (woefully unhelpful) reply from Bethesda Technical Support. I've included my initial message along with their reply here. I'm frankly really upset by the response. They suggest contacting Apple, but the loss of money spent on lunch boxes is clearly their fault; they suggest coming to the forums, but I say that I've already been reading them. Did they actually read my message or just send out a form letter reply?!

Hello. I am experiencing a problem with Fallout Shelter, and would like some suggestions as to how to address it.
I am using an iPad Air running iOS 8.3.
I downloaded the game from the App Store two days ago and initially it worked just fine. I quite enjoyed the game; so much so, in fact, that I bought 40 lunch boxes. I opened about half of these.
At some point yesterday, I left the game, and have since been unable to get back in. When I try to open the game, the splash screen appears for about 3 seconds, then the game quits, sending me back to the iPad home screen. When I go to the task manager, I can see my vault, but when I tap on it, the same as above happens (splash screen for ~3 seconds then quit). The game continued to give me notifications until I turned these off in the iPad options menu.
I have tried a soft reset of the iPad, but this does not help. I do not want to uninstall and reinstall, as I understand that I will lose not only my vault, but my items and purchased lunch boxes.
From reading forums, I understand that this is not an uncommon problem and I would like to know what you are planning to do to address it. If it were simply an issue of losing my progress in a free game, I would still be disappointed, as it was quite enjoyable while it worked; however, I have now spent money on it and it is not working. If you are not planning on fixing this crashing issue, please advise me as to how I can request a refund for the lunch boxes I purchased.
Thank you very much in advance for your help. I have been a long time supporter of Bethesda and fan of your games and hope that you plan to fix this pervasive issue.
