Sup people, we are going to start a BGSF pokemon tournament! If you are interested, just say so, and I will put your name down.
We will start to set it up once we get enough people, so there is no set time as of yet.

Tell me how you like these rules...these are just suggestions, I wouldn't mind changing a few if they are unpopular.

How trained will these pokemon be? Are we talking super maxed and specialized hardcoe style?

I don't have the game, I just want to know who to put my bets on. Someone private message me some stats if you don't want your elite team all over the thread for others to scrutinize.

If it is super competitive with EV's it will be interesting.

I raised a Lucario with EV training. I wanted for once to have a pokemon that truly was terrifying and kicked some ass. Took me a few weeks, but I managed to succeed in getting him where I wanted him.

It seemed sort of unfair in the base game though, he was so optimized it was no challenge in the main game.

If we are going with maxed ev and the whole uber competitive stuff, people or atleast I will need some serious prep time.

Oh don't worry about me and EV training. I'm just a spectator. I have a DS light, and if I am correct it is not capable of connecting to my wireless router.

Edit
Or can it? Hmmmm... To the lab!

I would think just EV trained pokemon..it really doesn't take long to do that.

Yeah, we still need to get enough people for the tourney, and some people still haven't beat HG/SS, so it's not going to be happening yet.

sorry this isn´t about the tournament but as an old school 90s kid pokemon fan i have a question or two to ask.

I heard the series isn´t about Ash, Misty and Brock anymore. What happened to them?

What happened to jesse , james and mewtwo in team rocket?

If i wanted to start on pokemon again where do i start? I have a nintendo DS but the last pokemon game i played was on the gameboy colour. I dunno how chronologically the games work.

The anime has devolved from Ash wanting to become a pokemon master to Ash becoming a babysitter to a random 10 year old girl everytime he goes to a new region. And instead of catching pokemon, Ash and co help them out of their troubles and NEVER catch a Pokemon unless it WANTS to be captured. Brock is still there, but his only purpose is to spew information about what's going on so that the kids watching it can understand it. Basically Brock is just every article on Bulbapedia stuffed into a person. And instead of Misty following Ash and Brock around, every time they go to a new region the first thing they capture is a new 10 year old girl to accompany them on their journey of helping pokemon.

So, to summarize, the anime is now complete crap, and any bits of cool the original series had disappeared long ago.

Oh, and the Team Rocket guys are still around, but like always, they just serve as a plot device.

As for which pokemon game you should get, you should get Pokemon Heart Gold or Soul Silver, which are remakes of Gold and Silver and only came out a few weeks ago. The games before that were Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, and before that Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, which came after Gold, Silver and Crystal and Blue, Red and Yellow.

Yeah. Not to mention I just got HeartGold on Friday, so it'll take me at least 100 ingame hours before I'm done with the story.

Ash is a total scrub now too. I once watched an episode of Platinum or whatever the series calls itself for Gen IV, and it was basically a 2 episode arc of Ash making retarded choices in battle and getting his butt kicked by the rival, only to have Pikachu deus ex machina all over the place as usual.

I agree on this. HeartGold and SoulSilver are by far the best renditions of the game yet, and I'm talking straight up usability. They optimized the user interface in all the right ways, you can drag and drop pokemon in the PC boxes now without messing through menus, the main menu is always on the touch screen below, as is the run-lock button (which makes you run without having to hold down B ) and the key item button (no more randomly hitting Y when you meant to hit X and getting "This isn't the place for that..." because you have a fishing rod on Y).

I surely haven't came near finishing SS yet, but I wasnt planning on using my SS for the tourney anyway because as soon as I finish the story Im gonna start over again. So I assume the Tourney would be for Diamond and Pearl too, considering they can all battle and trade together.

Yeah, it doesn't matter which version you use, it can be either Diamond/Pearl/Platinum or HeartGold/SoulSilver.
