I'm having some real troubles training Onix. I knew he was going to be a real project, but I had hoped that the boosted exp from trading would have covered at least some of his setbacks. Good thing his name is Rocky, because he's going to need some real determination to do anything against the Elite 4. Or even reach lvl 45...(he's currently 39).

When you use a pokemon what do you look for, diverse move-pool or stats? I prefer the move-pool

I look for general awesomeness

can it breathe fire and is it a dragon that would mess you up for fun
if I gave it a gun would it shooter the other trainer/pokemon
is it a giant freaking boulder that makes earthquakes

... well those are my fav 3 pokemon I used as examples

i dont like the DS pokemon games so i only play pokemon ruby.
i still play pokemon gold for gameboy color.
i dont want to get the new gold/silver remakes because when i think of those games
i want to think of everything how it was in the old games, so i dont want to see how they remade everything in the new ones.

Both. I usually look at stats first to determine what the pokemon is good at. Then I look at it's move-pool and see if it has anything useful that reflects it's stats. For example, one of my favorite pokemons:

Weezing. It has a high defence stat which makes it a great wall pokemon. It's move-pool is not that great but it has a few moves that help it survive. Protect is nice which help survivability but it's a move that just stops the game for a round. Give Weezing Toxic(Toxic Spikes would be better but Weezing can't learn that move) and Weezing is immortal for a round while the foe takes damage(that increases every round). Weezing can't take much beating from super effective moves or from special sweepers so more survivablility is needed. Pain Split gives that survivability, but you must be able to see what your opponent is going to do for it to work sometimes. Pain Split is a nice attack on those pokemons with tons of hp. The last move could be anything, but I give my Weezing an suprise element(Flamethrower, thunderbolt and so on). Flaming stupid jirachi users is awesome and chocking Gyarados with Weezing gives a great feeling.

Weezing is awesome B)

Looks like I've not got the money for SS anymore, "accidentally" spent it to go and see Dropkick Murphys; so I'll just restart Diamond for the nth time.

Quick question-for the battles you guys are doing. Are you going full out competitive teams? I'm not really into learning the whole competetive meta game, but I'd be up for it with my new team given a while to level it up as long as it doesn't involve needing to know a godawful long list of tactics for rapid spinning or somesuch.

One last thing-On the lookout for a legit Arceus, have every pokemon (legitimately) except that and willing to trade them for it. I can also breed a shiny via RNG for you or just pokesav something up etc should you wish, but that will take longer and involve trading with both my pearl and plat.

Who said that's a bad thing?

I don't have an Arceus, but could you pokesav me a Pokemon? I don't plan to use it in the tournament I just want to laugh at my friend cause he doesn't have it.

It's in no way a bad thing until the morning after the gig, at which point I shall be terribly hung over and wearing horribly overpriced band merch with no shiny new pokemon games.
And yeah I'll sav it for you, pm me the details.

Weezing was such an amazing member of my mono-poison team. Weezing has a decent movepool really, its only real drawback is that it doesn't take special hits that well. In the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bppp-eWnOGA, my Weezing was actually able to single-handedly take out a Wobuffet which is always awesome.

Weezing generally uses Wil-o-Wisp instead of toxic cause of the attack reduction caused by a burn. I run with haze though to reset stat boosts of all types.

I used to use Will-o-Wisp, but I prefer the increased damage over the attack reduction of burn. The increased damage is great against people who saves their softboiling Blissey's to send in as their final pokemon. Also Toxic has higher accuracy.

Nice battle vid by the way. Loved how you won with the poison damage at the end.

I like all the comments for the video yelling at the guy for his nostalgia. Most of them probably weren't even around for the originals.

I found it odd that he goes from saying Unown say sorry to complaining about the Pokedex having a radio (which is false, Pokegear had the radio, not the Pokedex), since both were in the same generation.

Pokemon Blue was my first game, got it when I was 9 (Got Red a bit later, and then Yellow for Christmas right after it's release). I found FireRed and LeafGreen to be pretty accurate remakes. Likewise what I have played of SoulSilver thus far (not much), I have found it to be accurate too.

LOL that will be hard.... god luck. Oh, and if that happens get swift or something like that, or freeze em....

if i knew where fishy was i'd send a brotha two copies of silver that i still have....the original....with no save data....in great condition...

theyve lost me on some parts, i think ill stick with crystal... *Orochi walks away mumbling about how he and his friends never had an Arceus or 2 other generations of pokemon to help them through Gold, Silver, or Crystal. they had a crappy time machine...*

I have found SoulSilver (beat it all the way through, 16 badges and defeated Red) to be a pretty accurate except for some changes like the pokemon from Sinnoh and Hoenn being made available at certain times, and stuff put in to further the length of the game.
