Whats your team like? I know level does matter, but if you have a well rounded team, you can actually suffice with pokemon around 77-79, lowest. I wrote about this earlier, but definitely make sure you have a hard hitting physical fighter. Fighting is the best choice, IMO, since Snorlax is normal.

You can just destiny bond/perish song the snorlax, he's the only real wall. The rest of them can be 1hko'ed or 2hko'ed with type matching.

wow red is harder than hell to beat. I wasn't going to fight him but i stumbled across him in mt silver and thought what the hell.

HIs friggin pikachu slaughtered my team. i need to train a lot more before i go back.

Same with me. I had to end up using a Mewtwo for one of the pokemon to even stand a chance (and even then he still fainted...)

i was thinking
Hounchcrow
typhlosion
amphros
gengar
politoed
and either dragonite or tyranatar

i was wondering if amphros is working but red has a lapras and blastoise

Ampharos would wrok well. Also, I'd go for Tyranitar. Good one for taking out Pkiachu, and then good for charizard too.

And to Dr. D- Good point. By that time, I actually still had Perish Song on my Altaria. Its a solid move for getting rid of a wall, especially if its his last pokemon... but I was able to KO Snorlax with 2 hits on my Machamp. A little bit faster, but that is still an option.

I just get annoyed fighting Snorlax because of whittling him down, then getting hit with a rest. I have never really used fighting types though, to be honest. I have a couple of fighting moves spread across my team, like on Heracross, but never a pure fighter.

I originally picked up Machop because it was an early pokemon that I just tacked onto what I thought was my "transitional" team, but then I kind of got hooked. He has a good health stat, and a huge amount of attack. I gave him Rock Climb (actually decent in case I fight someone who isn't weak to fighting/strong to it) which can confuse. Cross Chop (almost too good to be true, high base damage plus a high critical hit rate...) and Focus Punch and Focus Blast. If you can predict when someone will use a nonoffensive move, like growl, or psych up, then Focus Punch is beast. Also, focus blast is a good standby.

I had just gotten through the cave and saw his sprite when my battery light went red. I'll have to catch him later.

But why did you need a Murkrow? Didn't you save the Master Ball?

Pokemon I have (willing to trade):
High Level Mewtwo
High Level Arcanine (not willing to trade)
Entei

Articuno
Snorlax
Raichu
Cloyster

Actually, I lied. I forgot I had a primeape on my firered team. I really love Primeape, even if he's not amazing in a battle.

Wow you weren't kidding about the no moves part. I'm literally putting Mewtwo to sleep using a level 1 Igglybuff I recently hatched. Repeatedly.

I think the art for the games generally gets better (in terms of the individual drawing of each pokemon, in battle) but some fall short... what happened to Golduck?!

It's strange, I don't know why but the battle with Red is so awesome, the music, especially with the old gameboy sounds is perfect. Pokemon needs more stuff like that in the main story.

I hope they don't ditch this idea, but don't just mimic it. In fact, I can see a good follow up in Black and White. Instead of just Red, its a series of all the games protagonists. I'd assume they would just choose a random gender for the ones that could be either way. If they did that, then I'd like to see at least one, like Ethan (name?), if May went on to be a big contender or some other guy, and he is looking for her, as she is training. Could be better, but I think the message is shared.

Also, they really need to go all out and make a "Battle Zone" or something that actually gets really tough. I'm sick of no wild pokemon being over level 60, and not being legendary. I mean, do they just naturally stop? I want a zone where your wading through pokemon in their upper limits of power, and you actually get real battles, instead of the quick experience juicy jokes that Mt. Silver provided. That would be Red shows up again. This time he has level 90+ pokemon. Just my hope anyways.

I'd like it if a representation of the protagonist from the previous generation was the last person you battle in the Elite Four. That'd be great, imo. I mean, the whole point in each game is to beat the Elite 4, so why can't we battle the characters from the last games? And since they always come out with two games at once, one game could have a male, and the other could have a female. It'd be perfect.

But that wouldn't make too much sense because the other guy is the champion of a particular region. Isn't there like a Sinnoh Elite four, a Hoenn one, a Johto one and a Kanto one?

Yeah, but iirc when you beat the Elite 4 you become champion, don't you? Correct me if I'm wrong...

You have to beat the Elite 4 and the current champion.

i hope black and white have something to do after you hand the champion his butt, platinum had the whole battle island and that business with the volcano. It would be even cooler if they let you go back to hoeen or shinno

I'm still waiting for a game where you get all the regions, Sinnoh, Jhoto, Kanto, Hoenn, and whatever you have in black and white.

I thought it was implied that saying you beat the Elite 4 meant that you beat the Champion.

I'd be fine with just two regions, I don't think they could do all 5 regions without severely reducing the quality of the 4 that you don't start off in.
