The Unofficial Pokemon Thread #6

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 2:30 pm

Man HeartGold is so much better than Platinum. It's like going from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Menu on the touch screen to replace that pokeapp thing is the best idea ever. Also caught my first pokemon on the walker, a Doduo. ^_^

Although I'm not sure what to make of my new Mareep. All of the other pokemon I've caught have been receptive...with things like "Onix is looking intently at you" and "Ratatta wants to play" when I talk to them. But poor Mareep is so shy. "Mareep is looking steadily at the ground" and "Mareep is wandering around" are all I get. Makes me want to give the little ball of wool a hug. :(

Would you say it's acting rather... sheepish?

Hehe... sorry.

You pick it up on the Ravaged Path, a cave on route 204.

My Lucario is the exact opposite of that, it's always like "Lucario suddenly hugged you" or "Lucario moved closer" and another was "Lucario is staring intently at you" all wit a little heart above him, oh well I <3 him back.

Is there any advice on when to evolve pokemon? I know there was some discussion earlier, because someone mentioned the benefits of waiting to evolve pokemon so they learn moves earlier, but what about trade evolution pokemon? I have a Porygon that I can easily evolve into a Porygon Z or Polygon.... whatevs ( I have the Up- Grade and the Dubious Disc) I just don't know when to evolve them. I have it at like level 43, and I'm keeping it in the Daycare, using a weighted walk cheat to keep it levelling, but I'm just wondering if there was a "target" zone for them.

Also, my friend told me that if you have the Eevee, you should breed it, and evolve the babies ASAP, so they learn their new type specific moves earlier. I did so with my Flareon, Jolteon, Glaceon, Umbreon and Vaporeon. I'm thinking about using some of those in a new team I'm making.

And as a side note. I have a friend who I challenge occasionally, and he is getting on my nerves. Everytime we fight he uses Giratina, Palkia, Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre, and some other pokemon (He doesn't have Heatran yet) but its annoying because I ask him to use a team of hand trained pokemon, but he doesn't ever. In fact I asked him, and it turns out he wouldn't have enough because after he caught the legendaries he stopped levelling his originals. I know I can't force him, but everytime we duel, he just uses the pokemon, that I would consider cheap, and he doesn't actually know that EV and the like play a part in their development. I guess I'm just annoyed, but I have a decent team ranging from 60-70, and his team of pokemon he CAUGHT at those levels can beat me... I mean its close, but its not easy when your best is a fighting type and he has a ghost dragon with uber defense....

Anyone else feel cheated that they spent the time and energy to level a team of pokemon, that for some people like me that I felt close too, as in the pokemon, and just watch them get steamrollled...? Its hard for me to level up past 60 too. I spent forever getting my Machamp to level 70... and then I have the rest around 65, or lower. Not too mention that I'm thinking of scrapping my old team and constructing a new one. Merely because there are some pokemon that I like better and there are others that are I could use to move away from.

Current team: Can be any of these
-Altaria level 66
-Vileplume level 61
-Rhypherior level 61
-Machamp level 70
-Walrein level 61
-Duscnoir level 58
-Pinsir level 58

My Dream Team is in construction: Includes alternates, or Pokemon I'd like to be able to turn to.

Umbreon
Polygon (?) Z
Mr. Mime
Flareon
Jolteon
Glaceon
Espeon
Togekiss
and a few others

So yeah, super duper long post, but now I guess the question is, would my dream team be strong? I am considering swapping the Jolteon for a Pichu/Pikachu, but I know I want Umbreon and the Polygon Z, Togekiss... But would two Normal types be good? I mean it seems like one wants variety...

If you want your pokemon to learn a move earlier, then you can wait to evolve them...otherwise, I evolve my Pokemon as soon as they are able to. The thing about trade evolving pokemon, like Gengar, Machamp, Golem...etc, is that they usually learn moves as the same as their previous forms, so evolve them asap.

Don't worry about your friend..anyone can win with Uber pokemon vs a regular team, it takes no skill, whatsoever. I would stop fighting him if he keeps being a noob and only using Ubers.

Just have a team that you like, that's all that matters. If it was all about having the strongest team, then everyone would have like the same few pokemon, and that's no fun.

That actually sounds pretty sick. Imagine living in Sinnoh and just walking around with all your Lucarios out.

Which brings something to my mind. The Dr. Footstep guy. Anyone ever wonder how Giratina, or Palkia/anything super large fits in his cabin? How about Heatran or flaming pokemon... lol

Increased security risks due to default settings? :P
