I do recommend Enhanced Companions, though. It's good to feel like you actually have to work a little to be a full member of the most prominent association of fighters in Skyrim. (iahven't really proceeded the questline so far since Jelissa went to Markarth instead, but things like the extra dialogue, or the fact that you have a chance to get back to Jorrvaskr and speak with the other members before Aela gives you the revenge quest after Skjor's death is nice. (Especially for me, who's not really a fan of Aela - I always felt like there was huge chunks missing from the questline, and this mod seems to fill in some of the gaps. Too bad you can't get Vilkas as your companon during Proving Honor instead of Farkas or Aela... I supposed it's because she's far more popular. For some reason. Ok, I know the reason. But still.)

It also help that he enabled the voice files that she uses during proving ground as it was at one stage she would accompany you through it.

Edit: Resident there is a way to by-pass the Thieves Guild block there is a file called esfcsettings that comes with the mod copy that into the skyrim folder not the data folder and open it with notepad. You'll see a speech requirement that should say 999 for the Thieves Guild you can change that so that you can join the companions if you want to do the thieves first.

I have it downloade but not active. I'll need to make sure its current. It would make sense to take Farkas or Aela over Vilkas. You proved yourself to Vilkas by fighting him in the courtyard. However since he is the one going with you to avenge Kodlak, it only seems fitting he is not with you on Proving Honor. If there was a pecking order I see it as Kodlak, Skjor, Vilkas/Aela and then everyone else. Doing lots of hunting quests for Aela's favor would make sense for a hunter. I do need to make sure the face mods I have for Aela/Farkas and Vilkas are in the right load order, after the companion mod I believe. If I can't get Aela to look like she does now I won't use the mod. Her current looks are what made the whole thing work for Aela and Salessi.

You guys see the Battle Hardened warpaint mod on Nexus? Thinking about using that for Salessi as well.
