Yep, adding archiveinvaldation bsa to Fallout_default.ini will cause the game to fail to start now.

Pity as there's no other way around this... and no there isn't unless you're using a cracked version of the game and bypassing the loader... you naughty person :P

On PC, you can tell if you've been updated by the version: 1.1.1. 280

I don't know if it was forced by steam, but I was in the middle of playing when it crashed. On relaunch, I got the update.

Excellent! This fixes NPC performance on my ATI card and the d3d9.dll is no longer required. I have yet to try on my nVidia machine, but i'm sure it'll work too.

:D

Also i'm not sure why everyone was messing with the ini files in the game folder to begin with. The file you want to edit for tweaks is /Documents/My Games/FalloutNV/FalloutPrefs.ini

Restarted Steam, Restarted computer.. no go. Gets to the launcher screen.. hit play and nothing. Game tries to load, freezes and vanishes from the list of processes.

Sounds like reverifying the files is working for most people.

1) Open Steam
2) Right click on Fallout: New Vegas
3) Hit Properties
4) Click the "Local Files" tab
5) Click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"

If that doesn't work, delete your ini files and repeat steps 1-5

Okay I got mine to work. Try going to Library, right click FNV, Verify Integrity of Game Cache and let that run. When it gets done then try it. This worked for me.

how does this work? I have no idea what your saying? :(

My fallout also doesn't want to start! It just stops working like I just press play and nothing happens...this is really unprofessional. Also there is no choosing if you want to install the updates or no. This actually makes me wish I illegally downloaded this game and use a crack to play this game just so I don't have to use steam....

On the Steam Client, click Library, then Right Click Fallout New Vegas, Click Properties, Click Local Files, then click Verify Integrity of Game Cache. This is what worked for me and a few others I believe.

If you're getting the "fallout just shuts down with no error message after you hit play in the launcher", this is the problem.

Verifying the game cache worked for me, but my NVSE required mods won't work now lol. I stopped playing after a quick test before I remodify it. DarnUI is pretty messed up right now as well, but kudos for the fixes made, they're really well done.

I'll ask folks here if there's a suggestion. Hang tight.

It seems to be related to the fallout.ini and the fallout_default.ini files. If they are changed, say for mods, then it'll need to check them through steam, delete and reinstall them in order for it to work.

Thats kinda balls, since it kills the mod in the process. Since steam does all this updating automatically (and without my damn concent)you've pretty much shut down my ability to play the game until a work around comes out for it. Editing the new .ini files in order to allow for the mods breaks the game once more. And no, I won't play the game without the mods, defeats the purpose of playing since I don't enjoy the core rules/avatars/whatever/take your pick.

This. No mods, no me. I'll go back to Fallout 3. My nice, disc copy of an insanely modded Fallout 3.

Can still use archiveinvaldation.txt... that is kinda annoying tho.

There isn't, unless you're on xbox, I believe.

Now, what I would like to know, why my game isn't patching itself? Is it because it's 1C version?

Not only can I not have mods but the patch did not fix my lag issue that I had fixed with my modded ini files and the d3d9.dll thus making the game unplayable for me cause I need these fixes in.....

Remind me if I'm wrong, that involves manually listing and ordering the mods in the text file? If so, yeah.. thats "kinda" annoying, especially if you are running more then a few.

yay this patch fixes the bullet stuff, you no longer have to put it into a container and take it out, but there is one weird thing, a lot of random creatures are now essential

any mod that requires me to use archive invalidated etc.. Since I can not edit the ini to change that it will use the archive file.

also the defualt ui is so horrid I am using darns ui and can not again edit the ini due to this patch thus making darns ui non usable
