The update just went LIVE on STEAM !

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:38 pm

Not only can I not have mods but the patch did not fix my lag issue that I had fixed with my modded ini files and the d3d9.dll thus making the game unplayable for me cause I need these fixes in.....

pfff nothing worked for me so far I tried various things to fix it......this svcks...I just finished my new gear and I just wanted to start playing fallout....this just svcks....

any mod that requires me to use archive invalidated etc.. Since I can not edit the ini to change that it will use the archive file.

also the defualt ui is so horrid I am using darns ui and can not again edit the ini due to this patch thus making darns ui non usable

Right, I see what you mean. Shoot, I didn't know you couldn't re edit the ini files for darnui, I was about to attempt that. :S Sigh

This update is complete bull [censored]. They should have waited for the patch to be ready for the consoles as well or not even release it.

Doesn't ArhchiveInvalidationInvalidated! work? The original AI was a messy way to do things, and got dropped pretty quick.
Also, I'm using DarN's UI mod with no problems after the patch; did you follow the suggestion of adding his font changes to fallout_default.ini in the game directory?

But if the lack of some texture replacements are enough to keep you from playing the game, well...

looks like you can edit the ini files for the fonts etc.. just any textures you have looks like will have to make a manual archive text file.

Originally I could not edit my ini at all so the fonts were not changing for me. I had to revalidate and then change but leave out the archive part.

The texture replacements like getting rid of a lot of the trash plants etc do keep me from playing becuase of horrid horrid lag issues :(

So you're mad at the patch because the consoles didn't get a patch? Right... This fixes mostly issues that are PC-specific you know

Well, archiveinvalidation seems to be working fine for me, the only thing I need now is NVSE and everything will be back to normal. Good.

Despite turning off automatic update for FO:NV, the update is being forced on me, whats the point of the auto disable feature!?, this had better not screw up my game.

Ok, my game got just updated and it can't even start right now. I did check the game integrity - at first one file was corrupted and it go reacquired, then I did a second check and steam said everything was fine. But I still can't start the game. The 'Steam is preparing your game to launch' window keeps flickering.

I just back up my INI files via zipping them up and then unzipping them when i start the game launcher. Tedious process but works.

Are they going to fix this or do we need to fix this on our own? Somehow for some strange reason I feel like it's going to be the last option?

Did you uncheck the read-only flag for the .ini?

Interesting solution to lag issues. O_o Just might check that out, have a link?

Restarting Steam did nothing for me. Nothing at all. I mad without my FO fix.

Try rebooting the machine, not just Steam.

Well, I managed to start it up again by just restarting Steam. :)

Now, can anyone say what the game version is after applying the new patch. Mine is 1.1.1.280. I just to be sure Steam updated it correctly.

My textures are working so far even without ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated in the ini but I fully expect that party to end any second.

ok i was haveing the same problems of crashing after the patch from steam BUT its an easy fix and you can still run your mods.

anyone who was useing the d3d9.dll fix just go to where you installed it and delete it, it conflicts with the new patch causing the failed start ups. worked for me and my game is heavily modded. :fallout:
