Just pinned details of the update.

The incremental update (v 1.1.1) we mentioned http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/11/05/more-news-on-new-vegas-updates/ should now be up on Steam.

These are the issues it covers.
- Companions now show up as waypoints on the map
- Companions will always fast travel with you, unless told to wait or sent away
- Crafting menu should filter valid (bright) recipes to the top of the list
- Fix: DLC error/save corruption
- Fix: Stuttering with water effects
- Fix: Severe performance issues with DirectX.
- Fix: Controls temporarily disabled after reloading Cowboy Repeater while crouched
- Fixed crash using the Euclid C-Finder while having the Heave Ho perk
- Fix: Entering the strip after Debt Collector causes crash and autosave corruption
- Fix: Using Mojave Express dropbox can cause DLC warnings
- Fixed crash when buying duplicate caravan cards from a vendor in a single transaction
- Fix: Sitting down while looking down a weapon's ironsights leaves player control locked
- Fix: If a companion is knocked uncon. with broken limbs they stay broken on respawn
- Fix for varmint night scope effect persisting in kill cam.
- Fix for giving companions armor that adds STR does not increase their carry weight
- Fix NPC Repair menu displays DAM as DPS
- Having NPC repair service rifle with forged receiver decreases CND.

As mentioned previously, we still have a comprehensive update coming for PC, 360, and PS3. As we have more details, we'll share them with you.

Works for me so far. You can trash the DX3D9.DLL file, the NPC lag is gone

Stop working problems are often Steam not actually finishing the patch. Try exiting Steam then restarting it.

Exact same problem here.

-- Nevermind, problem solved I think.

I edited fallout_default.ini for archive invaldiation, replacing it with the original and the game works again.

The launcher pops up, I click Play and the launcher disappears but the game does not start. Tried several times and have restarted Steam. Nothing.

Yes, this - this is exactly what I'm getting, not even an error, it just tries to launch and... doesn't.

I tested this without the d3d9.dll workaround and it appears that it is working now. Large groups of NPC's no longer cause low frame rates. I also updated to driver 260.99 which appears to have fixed the AA issues as well where white and black squares would flash on the screen occasionally when AA was on. I'm using a EVGA GTX 460 SC on ultra high settings now well done. I am a little disappointed that I see some people are saying they are now getting CTD though. =( Hope you guys can figure that out. Hopefully its something simple like a mod/addon or something like that that's causing it and not something you will have to wait for another patch for.

Restarted Steam, Restarted computer.. no go. Gets to the launcher screen.. hit play and nothing. Game tries to load, freezes and vanishes from the list of processes.

My game won't launch. It opens a window and closes subsequently after. No error message or anything.

Great. :(

Okay I got mine to work. Try going to Library, right click FNV, Verify Integrity of Game Cache and let that run. When it gets done then try it. This worked for me.

Do that .ini replacment thing. Remove the default .ini for the executable's folder and also the ones from documents>mygames. Revalidate the archive in steam and it will replace the .ini. Restart steam and try again. And try disabling any mods you are using if you are using any

I'm not disabling my mods. No way in hell, I like my mods. And unfortunately, disabling any of the mods I have would break my current save.

I'll try the .ini replacement thing. I'm going to have to rededit it for Darnui though. Sigh. Restarting steam didn't work, so I'll also try the library thing. Be back in a bit for an update.
