No, it doesn't.
I think ZOS just wants to steer more users to its Customer Service department after launch.

You can see a username just by ignoring someone.
the point is though it IS an easy fix all you do is let the player choose his @username when he first starts the game and let it be different from his actual account login, yes the current system maybe safe but why not give peace of mind and allow the player to set up some random @username it isnt gonna hurt
So basically, some hacker in China who has your userid harvested from a guild or fan site can try to login to your account and ZOS will refuse to let him log on by locking your account.
Then you get home from school or work and try to login and find your account locked. Sounds fun.
one time password send a unique randomly generated password to your email when you attempt to log in from an unfamiliar machine. Authenticator sends a password based on an algorythm 'unique' to the assigned authenticator. they are almost exactly the same. The only way you can bypass either easily is to have the persons email account hacked (screwed anyways) or hack the company's actual database (screwed anyways).
Here is one especial for you

I use my social security number as my password so not only can people hack my ESO account, but they can also hack my bank accounts and steal all my money.
No it doesn't lock the account, it simply black lists that computer.
Are you talking about the Watermark that is used to identify yourself on the screen when playing? That was put in so the ZOS folks could identify who was streaming videos during the beta. That won't be there for the game.
I hope the watermark your referring to is my account name.
I agree that @username should go, but not for any security reason (a minor security issue) but because it links all of my characters together and maybe I don't want all of my characters linked together.
Do people who see "Bob Battle-Born" the Khajiit in game also need to know I sometimes play "Walks-On-Tails" the Nord?
Nope.
I can share that information, if I want, with select players or friends, but Bob and Tails do not know each other, and would hate each other if they did.
Giving out a Battle Tag ID in WOW provides a massive level of information that makes it far too easy to stalk people. I envision that @username is ESO will become the same thing, but with less control on my part.
No, that was something that came with the streaming video, so Zenimax could check who was breaking the NDA
Ssht, hush hush
no they are refering to the fact that Zenimax uses your Login in my case rumplestilstkinblahblah in their account database when you do banned or friends it says @rumplestilstkinblahblah for the entire world to see, it would be much smarter when we are creating our account and loggin in for the first time to allow us to generate what @Username we want the world to see rather than just using our login
so basically when creating account it could go like this
account name rumple
account password stilsken
account username chucklefinn
so now when a player adds me ot their friendslist my username will appear as @Chucklefinn rather than @rumple like it currently does
give the player the option to create a username when they start their account that is totally independant of their actual login
I like the BattleTag in Blizzard games. Not your real login but account-based nickname.
So /signed!
Yupz, the "not so smart people" will not be protected. It's Facebook all over again.
Ahh, that. Have not spent alot any of the time on the social side of the game. I would think that should be the character screen name, as that is who you are talking to, right? Or, was this an attempt to get away from/get to know a person no matter what alts they have loaded?
Personally, I can see some alt characters wanting to interact with some players and other alts to other players.
You are close. It's the name people see in guild chat. In my case that would be @Victorp, if that was my ingame login name.
When you join a guild or chat with someone in ESO, it shows the login userid instead of the name of the character that you are playing. The userid is what all players type into the user field (along with their password in the password) when logging into the game. I
So if your userid is "getoneso," even though you might be playing your Orc character named "Anik gro-Blawt" you will be known in guild and chat as "@getonese"
well the thing we are concerned with and although it MAY not be a security leak or hazard some of us older gamers dont feel comfortable freely broadcasting our LOGIN to the world in the video game, and we feel that its not gonna hurt anyone to cater to us just a wee little bit and give us the wee bit of peace of mind we are asking for and allow us to create an independant @username that is NOT our actual game login
