[WIP/BETA] The Vampire Experience - Thread Four

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 6:00 pm

More or less, tnu-- there's a LOT of "Experience" stuff I want to add, to integrate it into the world, however.

This is bizzare... There's really no reason you should not be able to cast whilst sneaking-- as Xrd says, this doesn't touch sneaking except for checking if you are... Are y'all sure you're not starving? That would probably have a similar effect, if you didn't have enough Magicka... If I can't solve this, then that is a MAJOR problem... :(

Don't know if my character is starving for blood, though I do have a lot of blood being burned quickly for some odd reason. If I stand still, it's like 1 per second, but if I move, it can be much faster. Like, 3-5 per second.
Though I have been really low before(like, 200 points out of 3600), and I had to drain someone to get back up.
Though I have seemingly countless magicka reserves(took the ritual doomstone blessing with LAME, fortify magicka multiplier 15 I think), I can't cast anything while sneaking. Well, for about three seconds when loading the game I can, but once TVE is loaded, I can't. Maybe it didn't reset my hunger when I drained the guy, or maybe my drinking of blood vials is not working to help me.
Either way, I'll check a few things quickly. Like how high my sneak is(50 last I checked), my lore count/vampire level(it'd help to know if I'm getting close to a new level of vampirisim). In fact, I'll get rid of these tomes of lore and get some new ones(kinda strange that they don't burn out when you read them), just in case.
EDIT: Strange, I'm almost full on my blood count, but I'm suffering from what seems to be blood withdrawal. I have a couple stat drains active: Drain agi 10, will 10 and str 10.
I have a hunch on what I could do to fix it, but I doubt it's a great idea. I'm going to burn out my blood reserve and then get it back up. Just might solve this.

Any luck, YX33A?

I'm not getting it myself right now, which *hopefully* means whatever is causing it is fixed-- but obviously I'm just doing minor checks, rather than actual game-play, which could drastically change things. If anyone has any ideas on the cause, I'd be happy to hear them-- maybe work out if there's a trigger, or just a permanent issue.

I am not sure if this would be the cause, but I've noticed over the many many vampire mods that I've played, that while a vial of blood or blood potion or the like works for the mod, it often times fails to work for the vampirism in oblivion for some odd reason or another. The only way I have found to keep my vampire characters going is to feed from an NPC regularly, because for some strange reason, nothing else seemed to work.

I haven't yet tried your mod, so this might not be the problem, just offering what I've learned so far from my experiences.

P.S.: I've been waiting until you have a final release version, as my oblivion is crash prone already. Hopefully this will be soon!

Hello, everyone; I have a very important announcement to make today.

I'd like to start by saying "Thank-you" to everyone who has stood by this Mod over the passed two years-- all of those of you who have made suggestions, reported bugs, and most of all downloaded the Mod and (hopefully) enjoyed the bits that are working. But I think it is time to be honest with myself: no-matter what I do, there's always going to be another bug, or something I'm not satisfied with-- it's in my nature to aim high, and I did with this Mod; but I think it's time to give up the ghost, and let TVE die quietly.

Thank-you again to everyone who has been with this Mod through all these months; hopefully in the future I will come back to Modding-- especially if another TES Game comes out; but for now, I'm taking an extended break. I'll still be around the forums, if you have any questions/suggestions, but there's unlikely to be any major releases for a while.

Enjoy your life you have earned alot more than a break! Let this mod die and become more powerful than we can ever be.

As much as I would like to see the completed version of this mod as stated above you have definitely earned more then an extended break. I hope that in the future you come back to finishing this mod but for now enjoy your life. Kudos to CDM

I'm afraid not-- there's too many incomplete bits and pieces, which would just cause more issues :(

I'll be leaving the Mod as it is up, however, so if anyone wants to use pieces from it, or release patches I'm completely fine with that :)

I believe Build 8 is the most stable available-- TesNexus has 8.1_3 (Jus called 1_3) which may be more stable, but I think not.

No problem. If you find any issues, please feel free to report them-- I may not be modding now, but if I ever come back it will be useful, and if anyone wants to take it up, it might help them :)

Spoiler

What it is:
A new version of TVE, built upon elements of the last stable version. Many of the features are the same as those in the last official release, but there are now a number of smaller tweaks to Scripts, a few new/changed Vampire Powers, a few other minor upgrades, the return of Flight (with vertical altitude control), and several new Features for tailoring your Vampire experience.

Please see the Read Me for full details.

If you find any bugs or issues, please let me know via this thread.

Downloading now, always excited to try a new vampire overhaul. By the way, I remember you releasing a lycanthropy mod a bit ago as well, do you plan on doing any more with that? I think I'm going to try it too.

Someone else took over my Werewolf Mod, and sadly I can't find the Thread-- it's probably on Search, but I was checking "My Topics"; either way, who knows ;)

Hey CDM! Good to see you're still vampire-modding.
Anyway, is it normal to have 7000/6000 Lore when the player first turns into a vampire?

Also...I think some of the powers get stuck.
For e.g. after loading a game, I try to turn of Vampire Jump via the Powers Menu...but nothing - not even the Vampire Jump is deactivated messsage.
However, when the Vampire Jump spell is cast, it deactivates and the Vampire Jump is deactivated message is shown.

Regardless, keep up the good work!

...but stuck the character at stage 5 of starvation and nothing will get it out of that setting, even if my blood meter is full. I tried curing with the code you put in the readme, and then reapplying-same problem....

I find this to be the case in my game also.
But I found the cause. I assume that TVE uses HasVampireFed to check when the player feeds.
Unfortunately, Oblivion resets this variable as soon as it is queried.
Once HasVampireFed is called, it is reset to 0.
What this means is that only one mod can use this variable.
In my game, I had another mod that was using this check.
You may have another mod other than TVE that uses this check.

I'm afraid not-- there's too many incomplete bits and pieces, which would just cause more issues :( ...I'll be leaving the Mod as it is up, however, so if anyone wants to use pieces from it, or release patches I'm completely fine with that :)
Oh! I just saw this good bye post. Oh well, good luck, CDM!
And I may pick this up, CDM, if you don't mind. ;)
