[WIP] The Vampire Experience - Thread Three

Post » Wed Mar 16, 2011 7:25 pm

True, but there is obviously some reason he hasn't. I would bet mod compatibility. Having the amulet ensures no mod conflicts.

Also, easier scripting doesn't really mean it would be "better". In my experience spells like that tend to be buggy, while armor equips tend to be more...stable.

Anyway, can anyone here dialog feed in the newest version? I certainly can't.

Havent worked for me either

Well for the dialog deeding to work for me I had to activate the percentage stats - the standard bonuses weren't working. Also make sure you already have an 80 disposition or the conversation option won't show.

Also Isn't it time for a new thread?

OK Everyonye-- from what people are saying, it looks like the Dialogue Feeding is breaking a few things, so I'll take a look later... I hate to ask it, but would someone be willing to try a new Character? It shouldn't be needed, but I recall someone said they were having problems with the last build until they started a fresh...

You SHOULD NOT have to press the Feed Key to Dialogue Feed, so it sounds like a glitch... What should happen is that you walk up to an NPC and have [Request Blood] in their Dialogue. Doing it triggers a response and either options of a conversation-end (depending on the outcome, which is based to the turning system)-- if you're not getting this, turning isn't going to work for you, either.

Vampiric Projection - Why an Amulet
Because if it's working the way it's meant to, you can't cast Spells. It's designed so you can't interact/fight with NPCs in anyway, which also locks out being able to use Spell Effects.

So, just to confirm the issues people are having...:

- Dialogue Feeding not working - Possible Fix: Wait one day. It seems the initial check doesn't work correctly, which may be part of the problem... (i.e., the option won't show up until one day has passed...)

- Cannot make Vampires - Hopefully tied to the above. YOU can't Request Blood/Reveal Vampirism until 1 day after raising their Disposition over 80-- but I've already modified that for the next release, so you can more easily see progress.

- Doubling Attributes - Looks like an error in the coding for the Percent Bonuses. Try setting them all to 0, which should (hopefully) fix it. You are MEANT to go to the Item Menu to update, since the only other time they should auto-update is Evolution (which I'll check)

Give me a little time, and I'll take a looksy.

Cold Burn,
From what I can tell, Xrd's coding is correct-- we used to have this in the Mod, but apparently it didn't work for some people, so was removed.

Thanks, tnu-- I'll look into it for the next release, since I've just uploaded a patch.

I've uploaded a .esp only file that should hopefully fix most of the bugs to do with Dialogue Feeding/Making Vampires. You'll sitll have to wait 1 day by the look of it, since I can't figure out why it's doing that yet, but you should be able to Feed properly, and make Vampires. Please let me know. It also modifies the Percentage Code slightly, so it should now stop working if it's not meant to run :) (Doesn't fix the other Power issues, yet, since I just wanted to try and resolve the Feeding issue, mainly)

I noticed that tnu posted a problem about him being affected by sunlight even though he turned off this effect
@ tnu are you sure you cured yourself from vampirism and then gave yourself vampirisim again?
@ CDM i hope you are not aiming to make it like a fallout 3 mod lol

How will this version be compatable with all the other overhauls? Maybe after you have well finally released the full version of the mod turn, ask BOSS for assistance?
Will other vampires be affected in this version?
You added special powers to vampires yes?
If you are gonna affect all vampires then i think i'm gonna be ok with almost anything however will any other npc or creature stand a chance against these vampires? Reduce the spawn limits? Create vampire hunters?

Even with the new patch I can't seem to be able to feed.

I tried a new character and gave him vampirism through the amulet, no dialog feeding/turning.

The trigger for it is messed up from what I can tell. Example: This one NPC for some reason (none of the others I talked to had the option) had the option for me to reveal vampirism. I tried to reveal and failed. So I reloaded and got her disposition up to 80. Once her disposition was above 80 however, the dialog option went away.

EDIT: Hey CDM! Make a new thread :D

EDIT 2: Upon further testing I CAN feed, however the dialog is very finicky about showing up in the menus.

Hopefully my character will be a vampire soon, plan on becoming one through the brotherhood quests. (Hopefully that doesnt throw a monkey wrench)

Also, I encountered my first book of vampiric lore, it was neat as I was looting a vampires stuff(In windfall mod). Does lore track even if your not a vampire yet?

edit: Also noticed a seraphim merchant. What are the details regarding holy water/stake/crosses? If your a vamp carries one does it do damage? *thinks about keeping holy water to throw at the next hostile vamp I see*

edit2: First time I read it I thought stakes were salt. I am on sleeping pills sue me! But perhaps salt might not be a bad thing? Create a makeshift barrier that repels vampires? Not sure how possible that is.

Vampire turning and feeding do work correctly now, but as I said in my earlier post they are quite random at showing up in the dialog menus. Also it seems to be rather silly that my age 10 vampire (With 100 personality and 100 speechcraft) can't immediately seduce someone and has to wait just like a fledgling would. I suggest a system based on vampire age and player stats that dictates difficulty in seducing minions.

Nighthawk, thanks for the info. Hmm... I think I know what's up... Would you try something for me? Go to an NPC and if the Option doesn't appear, type "Set GameDay to GameDay + 1" in the console, and try again-- if I'm right, that should make them have the option (which means the issue is linked to the delay settings).

I'll consider your suggestion ;)

Noticed a neat bug(or rather, feature): When you drain a essential NPC, they sometimes go flying after the animation is done. Or maybe all of the time, I only tried once.
It was pretty neat. The person woke up after they went flying, though, so no harvesting afterwords.
Also, I randomly encountered a Seriphine Knight 3(odd name) in Chedinhall, he attacked me on sight, and he used Holy Water on me, but I wasn't sure what it did. After I killed him, I was cast out of the Thieves Guild for killing a member. I was all like "WTF? He attacked ME! And how is he a thieves guild member?", and then I shook my head and tried drinking his blood, only to be paralyzed. I then quaffed a small cure paralysis potion and went home.

Did what you suggested CDM, Didn't seem to help.

Here, watch these videos: http://www.xfire.com/profile/hemot0xin/videos/

Keep your eye on the dialog boxes and they may explain what is happening better. Both are about a minute long. The second video will be the most helpful.

YX,
Thanks-- I think I know what's up :)

Night,
Thanks for the video. It looks like things ARE working at least partly-- the [Reveal Vampirism] means the NPC is over 80Disposition, and onto Stage 2. Their reaction moves them to Stage 3-- so you *should* be able to raise their Disposition to 80 again. Some NPCs seem to be there-- in fact, Mendril (sp?) seems to be giving the perma-reply speech, as though she's ready to be a Vampire... I think I can resolve the issue now-- I can't mod until to-morrow afternoon, but should be able to solve this-- I'll release a new patch which should fix the issue hopefully. You've been a big help :D

Thats the thing though CDM, Reveal vampirism isn't working half the time. Sometimes it doesn't show up in the dialog. My characters personality ensures that anyones disposition is over 80. Mendril or whoever was one of the few that I could reveal my vampirism to, so I went ahead and got her to stage 4 or whatever.

Interesting note, I turned Viconia De'vir into a vampire. Everything worked out fine. Oh also side issue, the um hunters leap ability, when you turn it off one of the words is misspelled. (Not a huge issue, but figured I'd mention it)

I forgot to mention, a more serious issue, when I was infected by the dark brotherhood member, the quest stalled. It now wants me to wait 3 days to become a vampire (Which I already am and have waited well over 3 days). I also do not get any of the dream sequence text boxes. (Dont those still exist? Its been awhile since I played a vamp).

Mav, no dreams-- but this should be an easy one to solve ;) My guess it's looking for the Vampire variable-- so possibly "Set PCVampire to 1" will resolve it. I'll take a look later.

Edit: OK, I just checked that quest, and it looks like I was right-- setting PCVampire to 1 should do the trick :)
Also uploaded a second attempt to fix the issue-- it's the 1-3-2 patch (in Main Files). What it does is remove the time-delay between actions, which seems to be the cause of the issue; if I'm right about this, then the next version should allow everything to work perfectly as long as the requirements are met (80+ Disposition). One thing I have just realised, but don't have time to fix and re-upload right now: you won't be able to Request Blood off an NPC between Stage 1 and Stage 4 (i.e., until you've regained their trust after revealing Vampirism). I'll be able to easily resolve this later, though.
This .esp also contains a fix for VV as listed above-- let me know if it works :)

Thank-you everyone for your help and patience with this :)

I see a lot of great vampire overhauls and this one is really piquing my interest. Anyone gotten a hold of a good upright feeding animation yet? Dialogue feeding gets old quickly.

It's Unoly Darkness : http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1082609-unholy-darkness-complete-vampire-overhaul/ -- It's another Vampirism Overhaul, you might like :)

- Starvation issues - Fixed
- Powers - Added (Sprint, Jump, Sight, Senses, Fangs, Reflexes)

And NOW we're ready for a new thread ;)

If an Admin could close this one, please, I should have a new one up shortly.

Hey!
I tested the vampire instruction system.
some of the commands didin't really work for in long time perioid.
Every time when i wen't to a world space where i had left a vampire the follow me command went on. (I don't know if the follow me thing is a feature or not.)
Next when i ordered them to be at ease everyting worked fine as long as i didin't wait or leave the worldspace if i did the vampires started to follow me or they started to go somewhere (Not sure yet where i left the once to a place where there was a drawbridge as an only exit but i think that they started to go to the imperial city where thehy lived before i turned them.)

Other than that I love your mod!
