ooc: The GECK gets explained in a little bit. That's what the stop over in megaton is for. Anybody curious can shoot me a PM, or just wait to find out in the story.
Zachary Eden, Megaton
--------------------------------
He grinned a bit at Wes'. Absolute dedication. Wonderful. Once he saw the gun move down he took a step around Wes and gave him a thankful nod of his head. Simms wouldn't fire on him now that the consequences had been laid out.
"I think you'd better tell Wes would he'd like to hear, Sheriff. You seem like a reasonable man. We're not here to hurt your villagers. We're looking for information. That's all. Gob has that information." He could see Simms lips draw tight as he considered his options. Lucas seemed a hard man. Someone who cared about his home more than anything else. He'd direct them to Gob to protect it, but it would disgust him. He had no choice. The knowledge that they had the sheriff trapped made Zachary one very happy man. He kept as composed as he could on the outside, but his mood was clear to a close observer. His eyes were practically dancing from being in control of the situation "If you don't tell us, Wes can get that information out of you. I don't imagine he'll refuse my request. I'm trying to negotiate. I don't think he will. Wes isn't a scalpel, he's a hammer."
Simms spit on the ground beside his boot and stared hard into Wes' eyes, not giving Eden a second glance. When he spoke though it was clear his words were directed at the officer "Gob's up at the saloon. You want to talk to him I can't stop you. I swear to you though, you cause any trouble in my town I will make you pay for it." Conviction. Wonderful.
Zachary stepped out from the semicircle of troops in front of Simms and walked toward him. He could see villagers now, hiding behind stands and edges of buildings. Afraid. He stopped when he was standing directly beside Simms and looked up at the top of the village. Moriarty's Saloon. Gob would be there. He turned to look at Simms "I promise you Mr. Simms...I will not harm anyone who stays out of our way. We're only here to help." Simms turned to look back at him, and Eden saw his fist close at his side. One on one, no matter what the circumstances and no matter Zachary Eden's training with the Enclave in his current state Lucas Simms would destroy him if he had the opportunity. Thankfully, he didn't have one at the moment. The officer gave him a brief nod and began to trudge up the walkway toward the saloon. He stopped and turned back to face Wes.
"Wes, I could use your...assistance." Read: I could use you to scare the crap out of some villagers "The rest of you, assist Sheriff Simms in keeping his people calm." Eden prided himself on his speech, in his ability to bring nuances into every order. What he really meant was clear.
If they move, kill them.
Luke Daily, Citadel
------------------------
"It's not the plant we're fighting for. Not exactly anyway." Luke explained, putting the flower back in the box "At project purity, they used the GECK to purify the water of the Potomac. From what the Wanderer has told us, there's a tree or something in this Oasis place. Something that encourages growth of plant life...of real honest to god life in the wasteland. He thinks the technology they used to purify the waters at the memorial can be used to accelerate that process even more. It's not a miracle cure, but it means we can save a huge section of the capital wasteland right away. The flower's from that place. From this Oasis. I didn't think it was real until he showed it to me."
There was a noise outside. He looked out the window and saw some heavily armed man out there. None of the knights were shooting at him, which meant he was probably part of the operation. Their sniper.
"Looks like we've got another crew member showing up, Anthony. Let's go outside and meet him." WIthout waiting for an answer, he shuffled out of the cab and left the Vigilant. The wind was picking up. There was dust blowing around in the Citadel courtyard. It whipped his lab coat around him, and he held a hand over his eyes as he jogged over to meet the new arrival. He extended a hand and greeted him.
"Luke Daily! Welcome aboard. You are...?"
