The Vigilant

OOC: Yeah, sorry about that. I knew you'd probably say something about that but I said "Ahh, what the hell. It's just one line." :P I'll try to keep from it in the future.

ANTHONY BROWN, CITADEL

Anthony smiled and chuckled a bit. "Sure, sir. No problem." Knowing that this impression could make or break him as part of the Vigilant team, he thought he should showboat a bit and try out a trick his dad had shown him. Anthony turned to face the can, hoping that he wouldn't botch the trick from all the peer pressure. He quickly drew his pistol from the holster, spinning the gun on his finger as he did so. The gun reached his hip, and he fired once. The can flew up in the air, and landed about ten feet behind the car, smoking from the hole Anthony had just put in it. "Awesome!" Anthony thought to himself as he reholstered his weapon.

Anthony liked Luke. He was socially akward like him, and he liked that. Anthony tipped his hat backward to reveal his face a bit to Luke. "Piece of cake!" said Anthony as he awaited acceptance from Luke.

OOC: Thanks for the sig promotion Brown!

Luke Daily
------------

When the gun went off Luke couldn't help but jump. Guns were always louder than he remembered them being. He swallowed nervously and angled his head to the side a bit to get a better look at the can. The kid had hit dead on. Certainly seemed like he'd been underestimated. Luke looked over at him, wide eyed. He just nodded dumbfounded and headed over to the Vigilant. He could hear mutters from the Brotherhood Knights around the vehicle. The teens shooting had impressed them.

"How did you find out about us?" Luke asked, as he opened up the door to the Vigilant and started to guide the Brotherhood Knights inside "We've gone out of our way to keep this quiet."

If he found out, others would know as well. That was a very uncomfortable thought.

OOC: No problem :D Anything to promote this awesome RP. Looks to be a very fun time =]

Anthony Brown

"Well, I didn't hear about the Vigilant, exactly. I heard about 'The Citadel'. See, after my home was destroyed, I set out to find shelter. What I came across was Megaton. One day while I was at the Brass Lantern having a bite to eat, I overheard some settlers talking about this place. They said the Brotherhood of Steel was here, and that they were devoted to wiping out the Enclave. Hearing that, I quickly packed back up and set off to find this place. It took me a couple of months, but out of a stroke of luck, I made it here." replied Anthony, hoping that he wouldn't be scolded for knowing about the Citadel when he shouldn't have. "I promise, sir, I didn't tell anyone else about this place."

Anthony awaited a response...

Luke Daily
-----------------

"I'm glad to hear that." Luke mumbled, waving his hand in the direction of the vehicle's steps. He headed inside the Vigilant. It certainly didn't look like the kind of vehicle that could pull off the dangerous mission ahead. It had two decks, almost a small ship on wheels. Where they were now was just off the cab. He waived a hand to invite Anthony to follow him and headed for the front.

The cab had been constructed out of an old eighteen wheeler, and it looked every bit like it. Of course, he'd managed to rig a small computer panel up beside the drivers seat for some of the more complicated systems on board. He bent over the seat to take a close look at a monitor. Fuel levels were fine. Enough to get them to Megaton, where they'd pick up enough fuel to get them the rest of the way. The Brotherhood's contacts there had a few useful things, but they were too afraid to bring them supplies all the way to Citadel. He looked out the window to the walls, upward at a Paladin. A slight nod and he moved off to open the front gates. "You want to see something incredible, Anthony?" Luke asked, reaching underneath the chair for a small box. He placed it on the chair and opened it up. There was a plant inside. A flower. Barely anyone had ever seen one, he'd never seen one until the Wanderer had returned from Oasis with it "This comes from where were going. Life. What things were like before the war..."

He couldn't help but get a little wistful about it. How things could be.

Anthony Brown

Anthony's eyes stared in amazement at the plant in front of him. He had never seen anything like this before. "This is what we are fighting for?" said Anthony, still in awe. Anthony knew little about the Vigilant and what it was set out to do. All he knew is that the Enclave was against it, and that's all he needed. Still, he was perplexed. "But....what could this small plant possibly do for us?" asked Anthony as he wiped a bead of sweat from his brow. Anthony was a bit hesitant to believe that this little plant held hope for the people of the Wastes, but for some reason, he trusted Luke. Anthony moved in closer to better examine the plant. The flower was beautiful. Extravagant purple petals offset the dark green stem in a very nice way. Anthony reached out to touch it, but suddenly pulled back once he noticed how fragile this plant was. It could hold the key to survival to the wasteland. The only thing he wanted to know was how it could help the wasteland.

OOC: Sorry, got a little lazy with it. It's early in the morning. I can't sleep either :P

Eddie Cambell

Eddie slowly walked up the hill towards the Citadel. [censored]. Why was he coming back here? The bastards here had ripped up his dreams of becoming a knight in shining (power) armor just because he got a little, tiny bit of out of control sometimes. Whatever, he thought, just as long as he got some caps out of this, that babe Nova was really draining his supply he chuckled to himself. Eddie loved his job as a Merc and he took it very seriously, but sometimes he was a bit unprofessional, especially when the ladies where around.

He walked up to the humongous beast that was transporting them to the Oasis place. He'd heard of it before, and thought it was some dream place that junkies went to, but the Lone Wanderer had seen so it must be true, unless- his thoughts were interrupted by a kid pulling his gun out of its holster and Eddie instinctively reached for his .357 Colt Python. Relax! He yelled at himself. The kid was just showing off to another one of these losers, it was a good shot too, pretty tricky. He had some promise that boy, but he needed to get away from the Brotherhood before he could use them.

Eddie got bored and started cleaning his pride and joy, his Dragunov SVD.

"When the [censored] are we gonna get [censored] going dumbasses!? Is the big bad Brotherhood having trouble with its machines again?" he thought of that big ass robot as he spoke, apparently some outsider from Rivet had fixed after it had sat there gathering dust for years.

Everyone was staring at him now and he enjoyed it, taking people by surprise was his specialty. He grinned and kept cleaning his rifle...

OOC: You know what? This actually appears to be a decent rp. In the Fallout section! It's a miracle!

I'd like to join, if I may. Just tell me if there's a specific type of character you need, and I'll create it. Just hope I have enough time for it. From what I've seen, Fallout rps tend to be really fast paced. Not at all like what I'm used to.

OOC: Four BoS and two Enclave. D; I went to sleep, sorreh.

Wes stood up slowly, looking at the speed of which the other troopers left the Vertibird. They were anxious. Inexperienced. Wes strode forward, one foot infront of the other in a slow, powerful fashion. Ducking to avoid the hatch, he stepped slightly infront of Zachary, half-covering the power armor-less Officer incase Lucas was going to fire.

The huge power armoured giant fixed his gaze on Lucas. Lucas tried to avoid the gaze, clearly intimidated by the large man. "Drop the gun." Wes spoke, in a calm, deep voice. He let Lucas look around first, he was out-numbered and out-gunned. A single, poorly repaired chinese assault rifle against a crew of trained soldiers, armed with plasma rifles and other far more advanced technology. The man lowered the barell of the rifle, obviously not wanting to become a pile of ash...Or worse.

"Where is the Ghoul known as 'Gob'?" Wes continued to use his intimidating size to try and force answers out of the aged Sheriff...

OOC: Ribbot, not trying to sound like a [censored], but I got thrown off by your post a little. From now on could everybody post who they're using in the same post? Like In my other ones how it says Anthony Brown underlined. I just hate getting thrown off XP

On another note, we needz moar Enclave action!

ooc: Ambrose, I don't really know what we need. Seems things are a little slanted in favor of the Vigilant crew right now, so we could use someone else for the Enclave. Someone a little more levelheaded to deal with the galloping crazies of Zachary and Wes. Alternatively, anything you'd like is fine. Up to you. Also, five thirty in the morning here. Still can't sleep. Happy to see everyone's having fun and we're doing some personality development instead of just "LOOK AT MAH BIG GUN."

Looking for the Enclave to commit a rather dastardly act in Megaton soon, and since the Vigilant has to stop there on the way to Oasis...things are gonna get real interestin'.

"LOOK AT MAH BIG GUN."

ROFL. I sent you my application btw. Hope you get to it soon so I can start!

Also, I have a question. Where are they getting another GECK from? The one in Vault 87 was the only one in the Capital Wastelands according to the BoS's Vault-Tec computer. Maybe that could be part of the Vigilants quest? A stop off at a undiscovered Vault to retrieve another or maybe the Enclave has one that they are keeping away from the BoS?

ooc: The GECK gets explained in a little bit. That's what the stop over in megaton is for. Anybody curious can shoot me a PM, or just wait to find out in the story.

Zachary Eden, Megaton
--------------------------------

He grinned a bit at Wes'. Absolute dedication. Wonderful. Once he saw the gun move down he took a step around Wes and gave him a thankful nod of his head. Simms wouldn't fire on him now that the consequences had been laid out.

"I think you'd better tell Wes would he'd like to hear, Sheriff. You seem like a reasonable man. We're not here to hurt your villagers. We're looking for information. That's all. Gob has that information." He could see Simms lips draw tight as he considered his options. Lucas seemed a hard man. Someone who cared about his home more than anything else. He'd direct them to Gob to protect it, but it would disgust him. He had no choice. The knowledge that they had the sheriff trapped made Zachary one very happy man. He kept as composed as he could on the outside, but his mood was clear to a close observer. His eyes were practically dancing from being in control of the situation "If you don't tell us, Wes can get that information out of you. I don't imagine he'll refuse my request. I'm trying to negotiate. I don't think he will. Wes isn't a scalpel, he's a hammer."

Simms spit on the ground beside his boot and stared hard into Wes' eyes, not giving Eden a second glance. When he spoke though it was clear his words were directed at the officer "Gob's up at the saloon. You want to talk to him I can't stop you. I swear to you though, you cause any trouble in my town I will make you pay for it." Conviction. Wonderful.

Zachary stepped out from the semicircle of troops in front of Simms and walked toward him. He could see villagers now, hiding behind stands and edges of buildings. Afraid. He stopped when he was standing directly beside Simms and looked up at the top of the village. Moriarty's Saloon. Gob would be there. He turned to look at Simms "I promise you Mr. Simms...I will not harm anyone who stays out of our way. We're only here to help." Simms turned to look back at him, and Eden saw his fist close at his side. One on one, no matter what the circumstances and no matter Zachary Eden's training with the Enclave in his current state Lucas Simms would destroy him if he had the opportunity. Thankfully, he didn't have one at the moment. The officer gave him a brief nod and began to trudge up the walkway toward the saloon. He stopped and turned back to face Wes.

"Wes, I could use your...assistance." Read: I could use you to scare the crap out of some villagers "The rest of you, assist Sheriff Simms in keeping his people calm." Eden prided himself on his speech, in his ability to bring nuances into every order. What he really meant was clear.

If they move, kill them.

Luke Daily, Citadel
------------------------

"It's not the plant we're fighting for. Not exactly anyway." Luke explained, putting the flower back in the box "At project purity, they used the GECK to purify the water of the Potomac. From what the Wanderer has told us, there's a tree or something in this Oasis place. Something that encourages growth of plant life...of real honest to god life in the wasteland. He thinks the technology they used to purify the waters at the memorial can be used to accelerate that process even more. It's not a miracle cure, but it means we can save a huge section of the capital wasteland right away. The flower's from that place. From this Oasis. I didn't think it was real until he showed it to me."

There was a noise outside. He looked out the window and saw some heavily armed man out there. None of the knights were shooting at him, which meant he was probably part of the operation. Their sniper.

"Looks like we've got another crew member showing up, Anthony. Let's go outside and meet him." WIthout waiting for an answer, he shuffled out of the cab and left the Vigilant. The wind was picking up. There was dust blowing around in the Citadel courtyard. It whipped his lab coat around him, and he held a hand over his eyes as he jogged over to meet the new arrival. He extended a hand and greeted him.

"Luke Daily! Welcome aboard. You are...?"

Wes Johnson, Enclave, Megaton

Wes sighed a mental 'sigh' of relief. He'd redeemed himself. "Sir. I am in need of a smaller firearm." Wes' eyes glanced over to Simms, hoping he'd have access to some guns. "A shotgun. With ammo." Wes spoke, slow and powerful. Hoping he wouldn't need anymore convincing, Wes set off after Zachary, close on his heel as they went up the rampard towards the shabby saloon, right at the top of the metallic town.

The villagers watched the two Enclave members walk, armed with whatever they could find, incase of a brawl...Or a massacre. They stood no chance against the small platoon. Whilst they had numbers, they lacked skill and weaponry, let alone armour. Without a doubt, Wes could probably destroy the town on his own with his current equipment on hand, but saw no reason to, had no order to. Further up the ramp, there was a man standing, defiantly.

He was wearing a battle-worn leather 'armour', marked with scraps and scratches. He held a rifle, almost identical to the Sheriff's only slightly more battered and bruised. He was a bold man, fairly short though, but he had a strange presence about him, as if he was demanding command and power. Wes quickened his pace at the sight of the rifle, moving infront of Zachary. "Stand aside." Wes spoke, awaiting a reply from the 'rebel'.

Eddie Cambell

A man walked up towards Eddie.
"Luke Daily! Welcome aboard. You are...?"
He extended his hand and Eddie just glared at it.
"Eddie, I'm the guy who is gonna be saving all your asses with my baby" he gestured at his Dragunov "while you guys get all the praise, oh and by the way you should probably stay away from me cause I am apparently mentally unstable. Do you know what that means, huh? I might kill you at any second so you should probably piss of" Eddie smiled trying to get the guy to leave him alone.
Luke just stood there with his hand still out and still unfazed. After a 10 second stare down between the two Eddie took his.
"Crazy fool, you might be all right after all" Eddie decided. Eddie was then introduced to some of the other crew he'd be working with. Afterwards he walked over to the boy, who apparently was called Anthony and started talking to him.
"Where'd you learn to shoot like that son?"

Alexa Garrett

Alexa walked out from the Citadel and decided to get a look at her new comrades. There was one of her brothers, Paladin John who she was glad to have on the team, another man who was apparently called Luke Daily who seemed nice enough, a kid called Anthony Brown who she didn't really think should be here, and another man who intrigued her. Apparently his name was Eddie and he had been turned down by the Brotherhood awhile ago but was now being hired to help as a Merc. She had to admit he was good looking, but his personality was apparently lacking in modesty. She got bored of standing so she sat down and started talking to the man about his guns.
"Dragunovs and Colt Pythons are rare these days. Where did you get yours?" she hoped she wasn't being to intrusive.

Eddie Cambell

"Dragunovs and Colt Pythons are rare these days. Where did you get yours?" the beautiful Brotherhood lady asked. Eddie was startled she was talking to him so it took it him a few secs to answer.
"I killed one the Talon Companies leaders when he asked me to clean something. He was an avid weapons collector and I took these as payment for disrespecting me, his life wasn't worth that much to me. I was really lucky to find these guns. There pretty damn good, and don't fall to [censored] like most of the weapons around here do." He smiled as he thought of something, "Maybe you can get REALLY lucky and find my gun babe!"

He awaited the smack on the face he so regularly got.

Alexa just shook her head and laughed.
"Good one" she stated as she left him in a bewildered state.

She walked over to the guy called Luke and started talking to him.

"When do you think we'll be ready to go Luke? I'm beginning to get worried that the Enclave might find out. I thought I saw one of their eyebots before but it was probably just my imagination."

Anthonys shot woke him up from a small nap when he saw that he hit the tin can he was impressed maybe this vehicle and them had a chance. He hoped that it all went smoothly who would know. he barely knew anyone here he mostly didn't talk to people due to him being a Little shy. Might as well meet someone he went to meet that Anthony kid got nothing better to do he thought to himself. He stood up to go meet him.

ooc: Heh. Looks like Anthony's one shot woke up half the citadel. Come on guys, don't fall into crappy little posts now! We were doing great. Try doing a little bit of description, read it back to yourself to make sure it makes sense! I want to keep this one up.

Luke Daily, Citadel
-------------------------

Still standing there stunned from the interaction with Eddie, Luke was a bit spooked when Garrett stepped over to him. He'd seen her before around the Citadel. She seemed levelheaded enough, but a woman on board could be a distraction. Particularly an attractive one. She'd already gotten Campbell's attention, and that was a whole other can of worms. She seemed on guard about the Enclave finding them though, and that was exactly what they needed. The crew on edge for a while "Wastes can play tricks on your eyes, Alexa, particularly when you're already on edge. I don't think I'm, uh, telling you anything new when I tell you there's cause to be concern. I'm sure that they know we're up to something but we'll be fine."

He was lying. Daily imagined she could tell too, by his tone. He was stammering a bit and having trouble finding his words. Maybe the Enclave knew exactly what they were planning. Maybe the second they left the Citadel the Enclave would drop the hammer on them. There was a gigantic, armored sign that he might be a little more afraid than he admitted sitting right beside them. He swallowed nervously and yelled.

"Alright. We're ready to roll out. Anybody who's coming with us, I need you on board. Say any goodbyes you need to say, be ready and get on board."

His voice fell a bit at the end. Some of the enthusiasm fell out. There was a stark reality to the whole situation: They could very well die. The vehicle would be the only thing to protect them if the Enclave came down on them...and he was willing to bet they would.
