In their past 2 games Bethesda has had a habit of hiring big name stars as voice talents for their games, in Oblivion it was Patrick Stewart and in Fallout 3 it was Liam Neeson, however the question I am asking here is who should be hired to do voice work for Skyrim?

Now I am of the opinion that Bethesda should not waste their VO budget on one big star but hire many lesser known voice actors, however if Bethesda were to hire a big name star for voice work in Skyrim then I would say that the role should be given to Sean Connery. As we all know there will most likely be dragons featured in the game and who better to voice them than Sean Connery?

But that is just my opinion and I would like to know who you would choose and why?

I'm quite happy with Max Von Sydow's work in the trailer, more from him would be nice. He really put some heart into it, not like some celebs who just sort of phone it in *glares at Liam Neeson and Sean Bean*

I like Max von Sydow on the teaser, but other than that. I really don't want famous voice actors, they just svck your budget. Please Bethesda, don't hire a bunch of famous people, but a lot of good unknown folks.

Anyway, I think money really isn't an issue for Bethesda anymore... They're huge now. They prolly have the budget to hire a few big name stars, retain their old voice actors from Oblivion, and add a bunch of lesser know voice actors as well.

Well technically that thread is talking about the value of hiring one big name voice actor over many lesser known ones whereas this thread is supposed to be a little fun and is about naming the big name voice actor you would like to see in the game.

Yes I know everybody wants to see the VO budget split up between many lesser known voice actors rather than have it spent on one big voice actor but this thread is not asking that, it is asking if Bethesda were to ignore us and hire a big name anyway who would you want it to be?

If it didn't harm the other VO, I'd say some fella(s) who'd played the same kind of role like Sean "Boromir" Bean: Viggo Mortensen, Gerard Butler, Russell Crowe and/or people of whom I can't recall the names... You get the idea. I think Sean Connery would sound nice too.

New Vegas had Felicia Day, and I like Max Von Sydow's voice acting in the trailer, I don't know or care who the next big star is, as long as they're are good.

Since when is it Max von Sydow in the trailer? There has been no confirmation.

You forgot about Morrowind. Shame on you. Tsk Tsk. Wasn't Linda Carter doing Dunmer female voices? I believe she was i Oblivion as well.

As for big name actors, I would like them to stay away. Let the money they would have used for them, to go into better development. After all instead of having Patric Stewart doing the voice overs, (not sure how much they had to pay him for it) that money could have went to multiplayer.

Ok, kidding on the multiplayer part, but would have been nicer to pay $10 cheaper for the game then or have better or more content then, like the first 2 DLC for free then.

If I could get back to Cyrodiil somehow, blasting him off Dive Rock with Fingers of the Mountain may be satisfactory too. In fact there are too many ways I'd enjoy making him suffer.

Edit: Putting him in the Imperial City Arena opposing five Gatekeepers... Or Mehrunes Dagon... Or Martin Septim aka Akatosh himself...

Well they could always get him to voice the adoring fan.

I hope they get some real, big name Voice Actors.

Stop wasting money on movie stars and hire people that actually have experience doing voices for games.

Slightly off topic but I forgot who Max Von Sydow was until I saw him playing a popular religious figure on a movie last night. I've been wracking my brain for days trying to figure out who's voice that was.

I'm guessing he's going to be one of the voice actors in the actual game. Parts of the narration in the trailer sound like something that might have been pulled straight from the game.

As for other voice actors, Sigourney Weaver gets my vote.

None, so we can have more than a couple of voice actors this time. I predict a lot of NPCs in Skyrim. More than Oblivion or New Vegas. To waste all your money on Chris Plummer or Max Von Sydow isn't needed.

Edit: Dream VA if money, or death wasn't a concern? The late John Gwynne as an anonymous Altmer.

If we're talking voices for dragons my vote is for John Hurt.

Linda Carter has been the voice of female Nords since Morrowind. I guess she is married to some Zenimax suit or something. I like her, but her voice always seems a bit too robotic.

What I would REALLY like to see is less voice acting. Voice important characters and events. Voice greetings and farewells. Voice random comments, but keep the bulk of the dialog text based. This way, dialog changes are easier in late development, and mod work meshes better with the rest of the game.
