I don't see how its magical since real tanks have them.
You would think a gaping escape hatch would be something you would notice when you're crawling right under it. The scene played out so sloppily that he gets cornered, decides to kill himself, and then he turns over only to go "lol, jk" and climb into a tank. It just seems like fickle writing.
The zombies aren't supposed to be menacing in such little numbers, because the shows plays by old school rules. In massive group, like at the end of the episode? How did that not get your heart pumping? I was on the edge of my seat when he put his gun to his head! I knew he was going to get out, but I didn't know HOW! I think the writing is great. It gets me, the viewer, wanting to know what happens next, and craving for more.
And, trust me, the episodes only get better from the first. The third, though, is so-so.
I can understand that, but I felt it was odd that the black guy would warn the main character about causing noise and then he'll go meandering through a park to try and find some crawling zombie only to shoot it and not even worry about getting back to his car without zombies being attracted to the area. It lacked tension and just seemed so haphazard, it seemed out of line for what the rest of the episode tried to allude to.
I'm really curious to see how episode 2 pans out so I can get a feel for the series.
