The Walking Dead

No, because you're talking about two different things. The short attention span has nothing to do with their memory as far as forgetting, they just get bored and easily distracted.

So does that mean that they have the potential to remember that there is a guy in the house sniping out of the window?

I agree with that. I was completely expecting him to light a match right on a zombie's face in that stairwell.

Also, someone mentioned earlier that the black guy said that zombies have a short attention span. I was thinking about this in the shower a while ago and I remembered that when the little boy saw his mother he said that she was coming back "again", meaning that she had come to the door a few times before. Wouldn't this contradict the short term memory if she keeps coming back to the house?

Remember at the beginning when the little zombie girl picked up her teddy bear?

I think the zombies still have some humanity left in them, and are still connected to their lives somehow. Y'know?

I would assume. It seems to me they know there are people in the house, they just aren't as violent and determined as usually seen in zombie fiction. It seems like to me that these zombies eventually give up and move on.

I watched it because I happened to be at my mom's and she has cable. Also, it was shot in Atlanta, so it was interesting to see streets and buildings I knew. The downtown area where the final scene was shot is right by my school; I hope I don't run into any zombies.

Watching it right now, really enjoying the realism. It's not uber-fast L4D zombies here

But they are persistent in numbers. I like the mob mentality that the zombies posses.

Also, since I mentioned zombies in numbers, when the sheriff rode through the city on his horse and ran into the wall of zombies; when he turned back around there was another wall of zombies coming from an adjacent street. It looks like it was the street he would have been directly facing just before he made his left turn onto the street that he walked along before turning into the first wall. I'm thinking he probably should have noticed a giant wall of zombies across the street.

I didn't really agree with the scene in Atlanta. Sure, it was full of suspense and it was exciting. My issue is he was in a dogpile of sorts, and managed to escape unscathed. I would think in that situation there would be at least a scratch that would cause infection. He's one lucky guy, that's for sure.

I thought that he turned around to head back the way he came and that he was blocked by the zombies that he told the horse to ignore on his way in, those on the bus for example.

I had been waiting 6-7 months for this show to air, I was hoping for somthing really great but prepared for absolute garbage aimed at the lowest common demographic. I really enjoyed it and hope that it dosn't get canned by short sighted studio execs.

Also most models of tanks do have escape hatches on the bottom. They are useful if the tank becomes incapacitated while under fire or if it flips over. It is highly unlikely that a mine would wait to go off until it is directly underneath the hatch, usually a landmine just blows of a tread.

Not on in the UK til Friday but I'm SERIOUSLY looking forward to it.

I've read Kirkman's comments on the beginning of it being the same as 28 Days and I really feel for the guy. They were both written at exactly the same time and then when Kirkman saw the beginning of 28 Days he didn't want to change the beginning of the graphic novel because he said it had too much of an impact later on. It's just a shame that so many people will watch the show, not realising it's based on a graphic novel that was written back in 2006 and so isn't a rip off....

Indeed. Its merely just a coincidence that they both have the same beginning. Shame that somone will think its a rip-off.

Looks like this show will also be on the IFC channel as well, or possibly it is being taken off of AMC to air on IFC?

IFC is for more mature stuff, so a move might be possible.

I can tell you now, this was no coincidence, it was on purpose. Whether they just wanted a fun reference to a popular movie, couldnt think up another way to start it out or w/e idk. But this wasn't a coincidence.

The beginning of any movie or show is very important and a lot of thought went into it. Being a zombie movie, you can bet the creators have seen 28 days later and others for ideas and dos and donts.

I saw it on the TV guide last night.

If you have the new DirecTV receiver and remote, press the Menu and scroll through the options to select 'Search for Shows and Schedules' (or something along that line), when you click that, choose to search by the show's title. Type in Walking Dead and the list of shows will come up on the right side of the screen as Walking Dead, The. There will be two showings: Both repeats of the first episode, one on AMC and the other on IFC.

IFC shows things unedited, all the time, no matter how explicit it may be. Maybe the violence was an issue after all? I don't have concrete evidence about a possible channel move, but it is kind of odd that the show starts to air on a mature station after only a week.

I did now, sorry. I didnt realize that the show was based off something written the same time as 28 days. :toughninja: it happens.

He purposely didnt change it = not coincidence either way, because he could have for the show and decided not to. Many many many more people will come to the conclusion I did when they see it. :bonk:

If it moved to IFC I'd be pretty pissed, I don't think I get that channel in my dorm
