The Walking Dead

Post » Thu Dec 16, 2010 11:47 pm

So, AMC is releasing the new http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead TV series in Halloween, and from what I've seen so far it looks pretty awesome. (The zombies look great, the slow Romero-esque walkers instead of the L4D runners) Anyone else excited? (Release is set for this Halloween) :D

Spoiler
Also, I've seen topics about zombies rapidly degrade into "I'm sick of zombies" etc... please just discuss the show here.

I loved the comic, and saw the trailer. The opening scene (car chase) looked somewhat cheesy with bad acting though. Or is it just me :( :cryvaultboy:

The comics are amazing, and the stories very solid. It would be almost impossible to ruin them, I doubt even a little cheese and bad acting will affect it all that much.

The Walking Dead might just be the greatest zombie fiction out there. The entire premise of an ongoing Romero-esque zombie series is like a dream come true for those of us who love the classic "of the Dead" movies. I am not a fan of "new school" zombies that are fast-moving nerdragers like in 28 Days, or have superpowers like in L4D.

Very very very excited about this. Not so excited about Andrew Lincoln playing Rick Grimes though. Said it before, will say it again, should have been http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1058987/

Never read the comic but I'll definitely watch the show, I love anything about Romero-esque zombies.

Well, the first episode aired tonight, so what'd everyone think?

Personally, I thought it was excellent. Seems like the show will focus more on character development and how they react to situations instead of gruesome zombie killing (though there were a few pretty graphic scenes so far and it looks like there's a lot more to come), which I welcome. Also the acting was great and there were a lot of emotional moments that really drew me into the story.

I'm definitely going to be following this show.

I just finished watching the premiere, and this series has found a new home on my DVR. Very well done in my opinion.

Noooooo I forgot to watch it :( :( :(

I'll have to see if they air it on AMC's website now and they probably won't and I'll never get to see it :(

I have it DVR'd. Watched the Steelers choke instead last night. :swear: Looks to be a promising series. When True Blood starts back up hopefully they wont be on the same time.

That was much more violent than I anticipated. Regardless, it was a very good show; and the end of the premiere.... That would svck so bad.

What was the coverage for the premiere? One comic issue or more? It'll be a long while until the show comes on air where I'm from :(

I really liked it! It was very good and it seems to have more substance than most zombie flicks today. The funny thing was that about 3 months ago I went to a comic book store and the only one that stood out was The Walking Dead. Time to pick up that comic! The funny thing is that now my mom wants to watch it with me since she says it looks very interesting and that's cus she's a zombie hater. Can't wait for sunday!

I was pissed about the horse though...

Yeah, that happened way too quick. From the commercials I figured that he would be with that horse for pretty much the entire season, or even series..... But I guess not.

Also, just a quick thing I noticed. Do tanks actually have a hatch on the bottom? Through common sense, I'm almost positive they wouldn't because that would add a significant amount of risk to mine blasts or something like that.

Apparently they do, it's an escape hatch. I wasn't able to find a very reliable source that explains how the tank would maintain it's integrity in the event of a mine blast.

One little thing that had me confused:

Spoiler
The last we saw of the father and his son in the premier, the father was just blasting away at zombies from the attic window. Wouldn't that like attract every zombie in the area to them? Isn't that like not a good idea?
