Maybe something to do with the Sword-singers for the Redguards? I don't know what exactly though.

Good luck starving the Imperial City out. It would take years to do so and an assault would be impossible. Same deal with a lot of other cities in Cyrodiil.
Starving the population is not a viable strategy in this rp, unless you want a single siege to drag out across multiple threads.

How do you plan on taking it by force then?

So what's the final ruling on the Imperial City? I'm warning you, http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j76/Titus-lord/?action=view¤t=TheImpeiralCity.jpg (which he's given permission to use for sweet, sweet credit) is pretty damn rad and much more to-scale than the one from Oblivion.

Sewers.

And as to the Sword-Singers, I think you have a very good point Tommy. I haven't heard of them before but perhaps they could make a comeback during this 4th era.

Attacking the city wouldn't be impossible. You'd just have to go in through the sewers.

Damn, ninja'd :ninja:

Sewers.

Really? How many men are you going to be able to move through there? Small exits, one Imperial would have to stand at the top and stab anyone who climbed up.

The Sewers at their wide points would allow, what? 5 or 6 men across, at their thinnest one man would brush his shoulders on the wall. It doesn't seem practical. Also hundreds of men streaming into sewers would be pretty obvious.

Swordsingers aren't Ansei, I don't think they ever went extinct. AFAIK they're just very, very good swordsmen, but not 'spirit sword atom cut' good, those are the Ansei and their second level Shehai the technique for which is supposed to have been lost (and Pankratosword, the nuke technique, was forbidden and only the stance is known, if I recall Cyrus' standoff with Vivec well enough).

Yes I've been reading up on them, perhaps the Ansei could return to Yokuda, obviously slightly weaker than they used to be but they could still be an elite group of warriors capable of summoning Shehai.

EDIT:

I always thought the sewers were just as wide as the city streets.

"The Sewer System

Underneath the Imperial City is a sewer system as large as the city itself. The sewers can be accessed from most districts of the city; there are also a few entrances outside of the city. The sewer system is a fairly complex maze. The east and west sections of the sewer do not connect to each other, but within those sections there are many interconnections."

The Imperial City is unconquerable. Simple really.

Except perhaps... hmmm, maybe the attackes could tunnel underneath the walls, collapse the tunnels and watch the walls crumble.

Edit: Don't do that, it can't be done, the Imperial City is unconquerable.

A few men through the right sewers could potentially open the city gates.

Not true... "Some time in the early Fourth Era, when the Third Empire had dissolved and all Tamriel was in chaos, Titus Mede captured the city with a mere 1000 men and crowned himself the first Emperor of a new dynasty."

Exactly, by tunneling.
But don't do that in the rp.

Perhaps but the chances are slim. I'm not trying to shoot anyone down here, I'm just suggesting that it's going to require some interesting tactics and different thinking.

Also everyone does have their super powers to fall back on for the siege of the Imperial City. You can also attack the different cities which would require the Imperials to spread their finite warriors.

Like tunneling? Or throwing your men over the walls in a catapult? Or Divine Intervention?

I called those ideas by the way.
Let it be known that I am better than Oddyseus.

P.S We could also use a big wooden horse.

Actually I expect Titus Mede to have pulled a Sula - no one even contemplated a march on the Imperial City so they could do squat to stop it once it did happen. IIRC he had to defeat some other guy on the field to establish himself.

Or a big wooden rabit. But be aware the Empire might employ Breton mercenaries to taunt you mercilessly, and throw cows at you.

Well, rumour has it that the Sword-singers are responsible for the sinking of Yokuda.

Oh it's definitely a slim chance. But slim chances are how it happens in all the best stories mate :D

Well I must say, the entire RP is pointless if every city and town is unconquerable.

Whether or not they actually did that is unclear, but Ansei certainly had a nuke sword technique that was badass enough to scare Vivec. Which is why I recommend to stay away from second level Shehai altogether.

Look at Kvatch. How do you take that?
Skingrad. How?
Anvil. How?
Bruma. How?
Bravil. How?

The others are distinctly average though. In fact, Chorrol would fall easily. If bandits could tunnel into the sewers, then an army could.
Also, there are the cities outside Cyrodiil.

Well, Kvatch is in the middle of being rebuilt and the Empire has literally lost all of its power. It has very few legionnaires compared to the past and we have great armies.. we also have magic ;)
