I really hate when you people put "whether I'm in the Rp or not", it's going make feel like a jerk if I don't put you in.

Ah, sorry. Didn't mean to sound that way. I'm just saying I'm glad that there's a RP being made with all this effort, it gives everyone else higher standards for future ones. In my experience, higher standards being put in place is an important thing.

And yeah, if I don't make the cut I do not want to be put in the RP. I'd hate it if I was picked when I shouldn't be, in which case I could REALLY ruin the whole thing-especially since there won't be many players(making every single one at least somewhat important, I would think).

Again, my bad there. I didn't intend to do that. :\

It's fine, fine. And all of you seem like good choices and it's really hard to number down the candidates. But personally I like the people who are posting frequently, asking questions about the Rp, makes you seem more involved.

Ah, yeah. :) I see what you mean by that. I tend to ask a lot of questions near the beginning of a RP(or anything I might not be familiar with), so that's usually why I might post.

By the way. How mutated will most surviving, living things be? (I remember reading one post saying after the weeks of radioactive rain much of life was wiped out, and the rest was left mutated)

Also, a question I don't remember seeing: Will there already be robots with the group of people? Or is it possible to find them throughout the RP? (Not even necessarily functioning ones, but just robots in general.

In just trying to answer from common sense and what i know of Fallout....

There shouldn't be much in the way of mutations yet. Mutations will come in subsequent generations when the young have double helixes all twisted and contorted like some kind of....contortionist. In the first couple years after something like Nuclear Armageddon ™ most animals would either be unaffected or if they are affected it would be in the form of starving and perhaps burns.

Robots would still be largely functional as all three Fallout games had robots who had been going about their programming continually since the bombs dropped.

One thing that might be cool, i was reminded of this while typing up my little thing about animals post apocalypse...there would likely be shadows burnt into the ground. No i [censored] you not. After Hiroshima there were many instances of permanent shadows being the only hint that a man/woman stood here just before all hell let loose.

For mutations, it would vary. Some people and creatures may be mostly unchanged, there will be some things who would be affected. Ghouls, Radroaches, and the like would eventually start to appear. And as for robots, since they are part of the Fallout universe, they will definitely be in the RP. However, the town probably wouldn't have working robots until later, perhaps a year or two of it's creation. Or perhaps there were a few Mr. Handy robots still maintaining the theatre....

And Mrsmileysmile, that is awesome. I will definitely mention that while RPing. The idea of looking at permanent shadows is terrifying yet amazing.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. :)

I remember a ghoul character in Fallout 3 talking about her father's shadow(I forget her name...eh) as the only proof he had been there after the bombs fell. I've never seen it, but the thought is(as best as I can word it) awing. There's definitely something eerie about it, to me anyways.

These are all G rated pictures. There were others i wanted to show (one in particular) but they either had links to more graphic images or had more graphic images further down the page. Out of respect for the victims of Hiroshima and the rules of this forum I didn't include them. If you'd like to see them PM me.

2: so nuclear winter is a no will there be any other adverse weather effects? ive seen the talking about it but wandering if anything definate has been talked out?

3: what about vault survivors?wil we let them in tow or mistake them for raider's, is there even any vaults in/around where the RP is based?

thats all i got for now

Well this is getting more full each day. Lets hope it starts soon and I was just wondering about our characters. Because where all young we will obvious want to find loved ones even through it happens what a few years after the bombs fell or weeks?

And so it may take while to meet all our characters up or unless their lucky to be close enough to build up over the years this RP will take place.

Geckos maybe, mantids probably, perhaps raccoons or possums?

The thing with looking for your parents/family....certainly some of us can "feel" that they're alive out there and be right....but considering that pretty much everything around us was destroyed chances are most of our parents are dead.

I really don't think we should have (whatever number of participants we end up with) tear jerking reunions. Even finding the bodies of your parents or family is pretty bloody unlikely. Unless they stayed in the house and the house happened to be one of the few that wasn't utterly demolished.

My guy for one has only one surviving relative (his father) who is most likely, and hopefully, ashes in the wind

About the weather, I'd really like to see dust storms, big ones. Maybe we'd be out for a while while it's happening (closing things up to prevent damage, or something) but being confined to a building would be a good chance for dialog, or to just see what the characters would do.

It kinda reminds me of a pre-war RP where we were soldiers in Alaska. As soon as we arrived at our base (the beginning of the RP) there was a blizzard and we spent the whole first thread in the base. That wasn't actually supposed to happen but the GM wasn't on so we couldn't move the story along... Anyway, it was pretty fun.

EDIT: I'm not saying we should spend a long time hunkered down. Just that it would be nice for a few posts. At least enough for everyone to get one or two posts in.

Yeah, I agree with you there. :) Not one for a long time-because those sort of situations(where you're stuck in one stop with little to do besides talk) can get horribly dull, but maybe for a brief time it'll force everyone to socialize....Or most anyways. Which can lead to relationships being effected between all those in the group.

And yeah-spending too much time finding family wouldn't be much good in my opinion. Other than the fact its probably a waste of time, if we want to be realistic here, they probably will need to focus on surviving themselves. It's not like conditions will be safe, stable, and comfortable-especially at the beginning of the society.

Edit: Also, thanks for showing those pictures of the shadows. :) I was wondering what they looked like.
Pretty much what I thought, based on one of those pictures.

I agree with the stuff on family. Spending too much time looking for them can be annoying, and a waste of time...

Plus, and this might just be my general interpretation of Fallout, sorrow and loss seem to be a large part of Fallout. Seeing the world reduced to what it is now. Hell, if I could add a second character (can I?) for a limited time it might be beneficial.

Actually seriously, if i get in can i have a second character for a limited time? And if i dont get in can I get in on a limited time/post basis?

Whichever organizer reads this first could you send me a PM? I have an idea I'd like to incorporate into this, but i dont want to spoil it by talking about origins and stuff here.

But back to what i was saying...I don't think happy endings really fit into the world of Fallout. There might be less sad endings...but look at the end of Fallout 1.

Spoiler for End of Fallout 1
Spoiler
You do so much to save your Vault and when it is all done the Overseer fears that you might be a bad influence on the people who still live there and so he sends you back out into the wasteland. The last scene is, if im not mistaken, you and Dogmeat walking into the wasteland with Maybe by the Ink Spots playing in the background. Not a happy ending.

Well, on weather, what if the sun was blocked for a couple of days? There was a bit on night ghouls, that could be used as even more hardships.

I'd think that other than raiders, ghouls would be the first types of mutants we would encounter as a few weeks would be plenty of time to ghoulify someone.

That would be pretty awesome, but i dont think it should occur until we'd all met up for a little while. On our own I don't think anyone could realistically survive it. Unless you're a dead shot with a huge clip and excellent night vision you'd be pretty screwed.

It's possible. Due to us coming out a short time after the blast, a lot of dirt and dust would be in the air causing blackout. Neat IMO.

Also, I had another question. Since we came out a short time after the blast than why have settlements already begun to pop up? First post said that there will be three cities located near The Warren, one having lots of people. Wouldn't people be disoriented and raiding random areas for supplies after the blast?

Really? Only a few weeks? Would that just be because of the intense level of radiation(since the bombs recently fell), or is that in general?

I'm just curious, because I thought it would at least generally take a few months of constant exposure to radiation before it would actually ghoulify anyone.

Not that I don't like the idea of ghouls, but wouldn't they still be...technically...sane? (Takes a while before they become feral, I'm pretty sure.)

I guess, sane or not, some humans would still be scared out of their minds and kill/hurt a ghoul they might see.

What are night ghouls, by the way? Might as well ask while this subject is still being discussed.

I think that was a reference to the town that we will be setting up. Which is to say once we set up "The Warren" sometime shortly thereafter there will be 3 nearby settlements formed from people like us who survived and started setting up their own safe havens.

Yes, sorry about that, should have explained that...Those three will be up after The Warren is established, there will be a notice on the bulletin when their up.

As for the ghouls, they might be their in a week if we feel like we need them. And please, don't get technical, cause we certainly wouldn't be alive if we did.

As for the weather, There might be dust storms and such, but I don't want to get give anything away.

An for I our purposes it won't be really dark outside, of course with all that stuff blocking the sun logically it's going to be dimmer, but not dark.

I just sped read the last page and a half, so if there is anything I missed, please inform me.

I do love the attention all of you are giving this, it's going to be a pleasure Rping with some of you.
