About the weather, I'd really like to see dust storms, big ones. Maybe we'd be out for a while while it's happening (closing things up to prevent damage, or something) but being confined to a building would be a good chance for dialog, or to just see what the characters would do.
It kinda reminds me of a pre-war RP where we were soldiers in Alaska. As soon as we arrived at our base (the beginning of the RP) there was a blizzard and we spent the whole first thread in the base. That wasn't actually supposed to happen but the GM wasn't on so we couldn't move the story along... Anyway, it was pretty fun.
EDIT: I'm not saying we should spend a long time hunkered down. Just that it would be nice for a few posts. At least enough for everyone to get one or two posts in.
Yeah, I agree with you there.
Not one for a long time-because those sort of situations(where you're stuck in one stop with little to do besides talk) can get horribly dull, but maybe for a brief time it'll force everyone to socialize....Or most anyways. Which can lead to relationships being effected between all those in the group.
And yeah-spending too much time finding family wouldn't be much good in my opinion. Other than the fact its probably a waste of time, if we want to be realistic here, they probably will need to focus on surviving themselves. It's not like conditions will be safe, stable, and comfortable-especially at the beginning of the society.
Edit: Also, thanks for showing those pictures of the shadows.
I was wondering what they looked like.
Pretty much what I thought, based on one of those pictures.
