The Warrior, The Mage, And The Thief

Post » Mon Jul 12, 2010 3:18 pm

The warrior is usually my favorite playstyle for a 1st playthrough.

I think a lot of it has to do about my character preferences in movies. In LOTR, who is my favorite character? Gandalf or Aragorn? .............If you thought Aragorn you'd be right. I mean, how cool is it to be a world renown hero wielding a sword?

Not as cool as being an arcane master of the elements and wielder of the very forces of the universe. :liplick:

I'm gonna have multiple characters, already mapped them out (for the most part)
My main "Dovahkiin" character will be warrior type. I'll have a vampire thief/assassin type and another vampire mag type. If they have werewolves I'll have one that's a warrior type.

In Oblivion I played a warrior/mage combination, but in Skyrim I think I will lean more towards a pure warrior on my first playthrough

Warrior/Thief -- is it safe to call this a rogue? Dual weapons is going to be [censored] awesome!

I like to do the 10 question class generator from Daggerfall and Morrowind for fun and it always recommends I play as a Ranger. Which works out for me because the custom class I actually play is a Ranger/Assassin type class.

So, all three.

You know, I was thinking that if we get companions, then I'd really like to try a pacifist game in Skyrim.

It probably wouldn't be my first run-through, but it'd be kind of cool to not be a Warrior, Mage OR a Thief, but to instead just be some coward who hides behind their friends.

And with crafting skills if we get cooking you could be a cook for your friends, so they get to stay happy when they're with you. This game could then be more appealing for the people who don't like to run around killing everything that moves. :toughninja:

If I have to go pure, I'd say mage.

Mixes:
Mage/Thief
Warrior/Thief

I never really can isolate magic from characters because it offers so much versatility.

I play a Nord. Nords don't need no fancy magic tricks! And if Nords want something, they just take it, even if it's in plain sight. They will then tell the seemingly angry and hopping creature next to him to bugger off or be squished like a maggot. So yeah. :)

Assassin - stealth expertise, combined with daggers for up close work and bows for long range takedowns.

Given my Oblivion characters skills, I'm partial to Conjurer/Thief.

The Thief with a little bit of The Warrior. Pure stealth unless I get attacked, then I fight.

I like Warrior/Mage builds. Mainly becuase in Oblivion you don't have the choice of no Magic. You're stuck with those two you start off with, and as much as I like to ignore them sometimes I land in trouble and use them. I'd rather not be fighting urges all the time so I just roll with it and play a Spellsword type most ofthe time.

I also a Warrior/Thief type build, similar to the Dunedain from LotR. However I find open combat with bows quite lacklustre in TES (due to generally low damages and no
Locational damage thus far), so I tend to get annoyed with these characters. I love being completely unreliant on magic though, using lockpicks and natural methods. Talking of which, it'd be great of there were more natural ways to heal oneself in the wild. Drinking water perhaps help?

I mostly play Pure Warrior with a claymore as to crush my enemies with and see them driven before me.

Thief-Archer is also another favorite of mine.
