The Wasteland is Lacking

I don't understand why some people say that Fallout 4 is too short with too few quests, leaving little to do. I have a list of all the quests. It shows 184 quests. If you're having problems finding something to do in the game, search the Internet to find a listing of all the quests and stay involved. Also, you can play the game several times by siding with a different faction each time. This approach will enable you to play all the various quests and to stay busy.

This is the one major flaw I'm finding with the game also. I realized a while back it's not so much that it is lacking but more so that there is nothing that memorable going on in the FO4 universe compared to previous games. I can list many things from FO3, NV, Skyrim, and Oblivion that have stuck in my head but nothing really so far in FO4.

The Commonwealth isn't lacking things to do, but I would say it does lack a bit of variety. More so than ever before in a Beth game, combat is pretty much the be all and end all here.

There are some smaller quests that are less combat driven, but they're few and far between. And of course there is the whole Settlement building thing, if you're interested in that. But yeah on the whole I'd say this game, while being lots of fun, does just lack a bit of variety.

I mentioned Oblivion in my previous post as being more memorable than FO4 but should of said that was mostly due to how fantastic the Shivering Isles was so there is hope for FO4 in that respect.

Fallout 4 is dope. Not as detailed as Skyrim but definitely more appealing than Fallout 3 as far as the world exploration. I never understood the appeal of New Vegas outside more ways to solve quests and new game mechanics. The Mojave Wasteland was boring as [censored] to explore.

I don't believe we will ever get a majority of well written quests in a game from Bethesda, it is just not what they do, their strong point and one that I personally believe they are amazing at is world building/exploring, now if they would only focus on that while hiring Obsidian to write the characters, story and quests we would have the most amazing game but I accept that is never going to happen so I enjoy the Bethesda Fallout games for what they are.

In a straight up comparison of the two Bethesda Fallout games so far I much prefer the quests and main story in 4 over 3, as I felt just as restricted in my roleplay options whilst also finding the searching for your Dad and having to play as a teenager from the Vault a lot less interesting then the story in 4.

OP must be playing a different versions TES/FO games than me.

Way more soulless dead areas in Oblivion (Oblivion plane, Ayeleid ruins), FO3, and FONV (it was literally a vast empty wasteland, which some people convinced themselves they seem to enjoy lol).

Of course Skyrim was a rich and detailed world like FO4, but even Skyrim had way less random interactive non-hostile NPCs than FO4 which has Gene, Kelly, merchants, random traders, farmers you can help, settlers you can save an recruit, Buttface, Manta-Man, new and improved Preston Garvey, captured settlers you can free and recruit from Super Mutants etc.,
