I have to disagree, sure the Oblivion stance was a nice aesthetic and a good vanity view but it was incredibly unrealistic. First off, weapons are heavy and the further the arm is extended the less stability the arm can provide. Second off, a natural fighting stance has the arms closer to the body, similar to the way a boxer stands. Third off, I think the way the weapon was positioned in Oblivion contributed to the goofy animations that resulted when swinging, essentially all the movement was in the shoulder and forearm instead of the upper arm. Overall its a much more physically and anatomically correct choice.
