The weight of heavy armor when you reach expert in heavy arm : IV

I just reached the expert level for heavy armor, now is the weight suppose to stay the same? I noticed my encumbrance went down by a lot, but the weight of my heavy armor stayed the same.

Aye, armor weighs what it does regardless (discounting certain magical effects). At a certain skill level you simply ignore its weight WHILE WEARING IT. Any unworn pieces are going to weigh you down as they always have.

I'll quote the game manual:

Heavy Armor

An Expert's equipped heavy armor only encumbers him by 50%
A Master's equipped heavy armor does not encumber him at all.
