The Weston Chronicles

Epilogue

Anthony Bastion would become the only one left of the coupe. Sometime after the statues were unveiled, Anthony would say goodbye to House, thus pulling the plug. The two had become close friends, House was become a bit of a mentor. It was a sad day for Anthony, matching that of the day Sean passed.

The Weston family had become close friends with Anthony. Jack worked with Anthony to help him become a better man, the man Sean hoped him to truly become.

Early in Bastion's first century, a church would be built in memoriam. Anthony would become a deacon of this church. From every generation beyond the brothers, one Weston would end up being the pastor of this church.

Anthony held the funeral precession of Jack and Britannia, alongside their children. He would remain close to the The Weston family for his entire life. He'd watch many of his friends leave this world without him. A terrible loneliness and depression would grip Anthony for centuries.

He would watch The Weston family would eventually become Vegas's first family. Anthony would take care of this family as if they were his own, they would become his only family. He would tell each generation of those preceding them. Sean and Jack would forever stay the family heroes, and become legends among the wasteland.

The boundaries of New Vegas would expand outward, reaching Broken Heart Hotel, and decades after, Flagstaff. When the NCR finally collapsed under it's own corruption around 2300, Anthony welcomed them like prodigal children. He would throw a feast and give them the best he could. Some residents of Vegas did become upset with this, but Anthony calmed them and told them, "I love you guys as equally as ever, as equally as those new to us. Please, welcome them with open arms."

New Vegas would grow exponentially, stretching from the far north to the deep dry south. The Legion would eventually break apart, and Anthony would welcome all former legionnaires, and slaves, equally to the family. After this the borders would expand as far as the Pacific is from the Atlantic. Citizens would inhabit any non radiated area, and when those areas eventually cleaned they'd inhabit those as well.

House probably wouldn't have enjoyed the fact humans, ghouls, and Super Mutants would live peacefully together. They would all work, live, and some would even worship together. Anthony would help cure the nightlkin of their plagued minds. He would also help feral ghouls recuperate from their cannibalism and insanity, with the help of other ghouls.

The science department would grow. Humanity would colonize Mars under the direction of Bastion. Within three centuries of this occurring, the term "Martian" would be commonplace to those under the neon lights.

Securitron modeling would change overtime. Eventually they would achieve a more human look to them, whilst holding a vintage holographic face resembling that old television screen of the ancient securitron model.

Cars would make a come back, along with television. Color tv would be seen in every household, along with an intricate computer network, and something known as a wireless global network. Satellites would be placed in the stars. Another invention called a global tracking system would make use of satellites, and be placed in the hovering vehicles. Something called a mobile phone would flourish with this as well. If House could have seen what Anthony had achieved he might have shed a tear if he was able to.

During his nineteenth century he would look in the mirror and see that he looked as young as he did the day he met Sean. That day he did something that would change that for the better. Bastion had the very same auto-doc he originally used to better himself remove the PHOENIX Monocyte implant.

Happiness would come back to Anthony that day. He would go on to marry a young female Weston that was 30 years of age. Marie would become Marie Weston Bastion. The two would have one child, Sean Bastion. Anthony would one day watch the love of his life die of a pestilence sweeping the city, Black Fever. Marie would painfully pass at the age of 42, Sean was 12 at the time. Anthony would take care of his son alone, and never re-marry.

Decades would fly by, and Anthony would age with a smile. One day, in the deep winter of his life, he would see his reflection be happy with what he saw. His image showed him a wrinkly old man, with long white hair, and a kept survivalist beard to go with it.

He now sits on a rocking chair in the penthouse of the Lucky 38. Anthony looks over the vast metropolis that was once the slums of Freeside. To his right sits an empty rocking chair. All of a sudden a bright redhead takes a seat in the twin chair.

Bastion creaks his head to see who sits there. The man looks very much like his son, but he has a glow to him that is radiant.

The man of ancient times speaks, his voice carries the dust of millennia, "You, you look familiiiiaaaaar. Do I... knoow youuuu?"

This angelic man smiles, "Yes Anthony, happy birthday. It's been a very long time, think back to when you were young."

Bastion looks unto the skyscraqers that reflect the sun on their glass. Dusty images of the slums of Freeside come to mind. The sermon of a faithful young redhead played back in his mind, You can still turn back. Grace extends from the fiends, all the way up to the saints of this world. You still have time to reserve your seat in the Kingdom of Heaven. Anthony beams, "Oh, to be young again."

The shimmering redhead replies, "I know what you mean." Wisdom in his eyes is notably seen by the old man.

"I was wondering when you would show up, Original Weston," Anthony looked to Sean with acknowledgment and reverence.

Sean stood whilst holding a joyful smile, "Yes old friend. We go way back, don't we?"

Bastion moved his head slowly in an up and down manner, "I think waaaaaay back is an under-statement."

The angelic specter stands up and walks to the back of his friends rocking chair, "Do you know why I'm here Anthony?"

"I'm noooo idiot Sean, I thought you would remember that." Anthony thinks back on his life for several minutes, "I am ready." The Millennium Man slowly raises his hand, and grasps his friend's paw.

Sean slowly fades away like dust in the wind. Anthony's arm drops like a rock. His arm dangles off the side of the chair, lifeless.

That week Sean Bastion would deliver the eulogy, and a statue of Anthony would be erected on Monument Rock. It would stand alongside Robert House, and Sean Daniels Weston.

Sean Bastion would take over the empire. He would run it as his father did. Sean would create a computer program as caring as his father. This program would operate the empire upon Sean Bastion's passing.

Anthony Bastion would be put to rest in The Weston Cemetery. The epitaph on his large headstone read: Anthony Bastion, The Millennium Man, Forebearer of the New World, Loving Father and Husband, "Youth is fleeting, but life is no good when it isn't." March 5th, 2251 - March 5th, 4251.

Alrighty, so when it came to the ending, originally everyone was going to live, maybe not Castle, but Yttrium gave me the idea to kill off Sean. Now when I did this I wanted it to be powerful and meaningful, so I thought why not have him come back? I wanted to tie up all loose ends, so all would die of old age. I thought an epilogue was necessary because a lot can happen in two thousand years, so I hope that all was covered. I wanted Bastion to be completely opposite of Castle, and with everything that happens to Vegas I would hope that it seemed right. I hope that I gave a good image of how much New Vegas changed, and how Anthony progressed through his life. I hope those of you who have been following along enjoyed the ending. I do not expect many to actually read this story, because it's long for one, and its probably intimidating to look at. Im going put it in a word count and see what I get, I'll post how many words it is. Something tells me Surfer still has it beat with just one story of his :P

I already have ideas for another saga possibly. One might involve a super mutant. When I get enough ideas I'll make a topic and brainstorm with you guys.

Ok so 40,116 words all together including Brothers; Weston Chronicles; and epilogue. For those who have kept in touch with the story, was the epilogue unnecessary?

No. No it wasn't unnecessary mate. It was fitting and it ended the story well. Looking forward to the next one.

I was thinking about telling the tale of a super, super mutant, one larger and stronger than your average super mutant, not a behemoth but could go toe to toe. The setting would be after the bombs fell, like 2100, and his past be shown through his dreams and flashbacks. His former self would be within him, unable to come out due to the harshness of the time... Think Hulk.

Another idea I had was a prewar secret agent and his talking dog as his side kick.

A nice ending, I'm feeling good now. I liked how it ended, and as much as it pains me to say it, I'm glad Sean died. I do not know how else you would've ended it, but I think it has a bigger impact, ties in what you wanted, and adds emotional value to the story. A martyr for a cause is always nice, but only where it fits, and it came in nicely here.

The epilogue wasn't unnecessary, as I was wondering what had happened to Bastion, and it shed a light on his life and how it changed. Which I think was important since Sean died for him to change, though I never would have guess him living so long or all the stuff happening. Espicially the Mars, I did not expect that.

Anyway, it's been quite a journey Wolfman, 40,116 words and few comments to push you along the way. But you've had the fortitude to keep it going so I tip my hat to you sir.

Stay Classy

Thank you so very much for sticking with me Yttrium. I wouldn't have been able to do much if I didn't have your critique to look forward to.

I might some some ideas for a new saga this weekend. I'm more into a drama right now then a comedy, but I have an idea for both.
