The whole 'endless sea' thing in Morrowind..

In the game Redguard if you swam too far out you'd get eaten by a shark or sea monster. That's my preferred method. And if you're levitating and you get too far out, there's always http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBizgLZX7W0&feature=related.

I'd rather see a drowning mechanic. Not just when swimming off the map, but in all water - the players fatigue should gradually decrease until it runs out and the PC drowns. With an endless ocean and a distant, visible shore, this would be quite realistic. I mean, I can see France from Dover, but if I tried to swim the channel I'd probably drown before being eaten.

I never actually tried to swim for Morrowind Mainland but good to know. Much better than the "you can't go that way" message. I really don't understand why anyone would prefer that.

Well they did it in Fallout 3 with all these destroyed buildings around Washington DC area, in TESV its probably that we dont see any more invisible walls and add more distinction of the worldmap limits.

I definitely notice the invisible walls in Fallout 3. They just don't talk to me anymore.

I don't think there should be a visible shore. I can't see across the Pacific, why can you see past the Sea of Ghosts? That's a really small ocean...

You can't drown when you're levitating, or if they don't have daily fatigue you'll never be exhausted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvciIVcn33c&feature=related

Lol i love that scene. That and the "what do you say i take your home at eat your [censored]" line is simpley spectacular.

But seriously, a great white or megalodon would be cool. Not as a mean to stop the player from leaving the map but as actual monsters. But ofcause they would have to be much more rare than the slaughter fish or it would become the next cliff racer very fast.

As Jiubs map shows you, the sea of ghosts is a tiny expanse of water. Not quite the pacific ocean, more like the http://de.academic.ru/pictures/dewiki/69/EnglishChannel.jpg. And, as I already mentioned, France is clearly visible on a clear day from the shores of England.

Fair point well made :P

Megashark can deal with the levitators/olympic swimmers.

The sea in Morrowind is perhaps the only thing which is in the real lore scale perhaps? :P
