The Whole Map and best StoryLore Explored

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 10:07 am

There has been talk from other players about how other parts of Tamriel have been built into Skyrim and that we may be able to go there as a future DLC. Whilst I think thids is unlikely, what about in a future ES game? If you watch or play games from the 1990's you will see that the gaming industry has advanced a lot. Maybe in 20 or 30 years with advanced technology Bethesda will release an ES game that lets a player explore the whole of Tamriel in a truly HUGE map with amazing graphics? I know we've explored Tamriel in 'Arena', but I mean a truly HUGE map, modern and with unbelievable graphics.

So this brings me to my topic. If Bethesda ever release an ES game in the future that has a GIGANTIC map and explores all of Tamriel, then what story or piece of lore would best be used to take advantage of such a setting?

My choice would have to go for Barenziah and searching for the eight pieces of the Staff of Chaos to defeat Jagar Tharn. A return to Arena although modern and updated.

The game would begin with a cinematic opening explaining the life of Barenziah, running away with Straw to Riften, her becoming Queen of Mournhold at 18 etc, right up to her discovering Uriel Septim VII is actually Jagar Tharn. The game then begins with you in the Imperial Dungeon. I want to give the prisoner, this 'Champion', a name. It will be 'Colin', he will be a Breton, and he will be a Master of Magicka!

From 'Biography of Barenziah, v3', "As all now know the courageous, indefatigable, and forever nameless Championwas successful in reuniting the eight sundered pieces of the Staff of Chaoas"
So the main advantage of using this story is that you have a reason for exploring all of Tamriel. And there is the possibility of a good ending which is satisfying in the form of a 'grand state memorial service' which is held for Symmachus.

So if you had a future ES game which used the whole of Tamriel, why piece of Lore/storyline would you like to explore and why?

No story line at all would be my preference. Just explore the world and experience all its glory. No overall story arch required.

I think I agree with Lord Tidus.

But if I were picking a story, I'd go for the Alessian Rebellion. Let's go *way* back in time and have a truly epic quest. It'd be fascinating to see Tamriel in that period too. Immensely so. Massive possibilities for fresh material.
Come to think of it, the parts of history that interest me the most are all the beginnings of Empires, be it Alessia's, Reman's, or Tiber's.

Akavirian invasion where you have to unite Tamriel to defeat them? Sounds good to me..

Your re-contacted by the Psijic Order and are offered a place among them. During your training, you uncover a conspiracy that will shake the order to its very foundations...

I'll just give you some copy pasta here from my most popular idea in another thread:

The Elder Scrolls V: Sea of Ghosts
- Plagued by thoughts and fears that you have not truly defeated Alduin for good, reports of strange events in the Sea of Ghosts draw you northward. Here, amongst a timeless people, a magical isle, and a mysterious new companion, you learn that your destiny is not yet done.

I like being really vague so that people can have unrealistic expectations and will be inevitably disappointed.

I think that if Bethesda do make a game which uses all of Tamriel then they will probably use a 'Main Quest'. The great thing about ES games is you dont have to do it if you dont want to. On Skyrim, with my first character the first thing I did was complete the Main Quest. With my second character I am 25 hours in and have not, and will not, do the Main Quest.

The main reason I like a Main Quest included is to see all the cut-scenes and learn more of the story. Without it I think I'd feel like just a wandering pilgrim with no real purpose other than wandering.

Elder Scrolls: Talos

Choose to play as either Wulfharth of Atmora (warrior), Zurin Arctus (mage), or Hjalti Early-Beard (magnificent bastard). Game ends when you reach heaven by violence.

Elder Scrolls: Exodus

Lead the Chimer across Tamriel to the promised land; Turn Trinimac into poo.

Elder Scrolls: Arena (but for real this time, okay guyz)

Fight in different city arenas across Tamriel. Earn gold and the love the crowd while you improve your skills and uncover a Sload plot to corner the lucrative mnemosphere advertising market!

Elder Scrolls: The Eye of Argonia

Cyrus and crew learn the meaning of friendship.

Elder Scrolls: Spears and Crossbows

Fight enemies with spears and crossbows. Final boss is Cyrodiil's Endless Jungle.

Elder Scrolls: Just [censored] It, You People Only Care About The Dunmer Anyway

The Dunmer conquer Nirn, cure cancer and tornadoes, then collective attain CHIM and meld into a macrocosmic tissue full of fanwank.

Elder Scrolls: Vehk and Molag Do Tamriel

Acquire EXP. to upgrade muatra.

I'd love me some Alessian Order zealot tomfoolery. It's an incredibly important, yet drastically understated part of TES history.

Very good suggestions.

Here's some more:

The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Altmer in Space! - Pilot the obscure Altmer spaceship mentioned once in lore and travel the infinite bounds of space until you hit a metaphysical invisible wall that separates Mundus from Oblivion.

The Elder Scrolls Adventures: SimNirn - Play Magnus as you design the lovechild of Anu and Padomay, and build Ehlnofey civilizations before demolishing them with n-dimensional fractal storms from non-linear Aetheriochrysalis birthing pains, scattering the Ehlnofey and leaving them with a homesickness that scars the race forever.

The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Numidium Egg - A sequel to the wildly successful series: Numidium Wing. Control the mighty Prime Gestalt itself and mush elves, creating combo multipliers that extend your Brass God's time within this possipoint.

The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Grand Theft Mantle - Play Ysmir as you hijack personalities and become everyone everywhere. If people see you commit these heinous crimes against logic, reason, and plot continuation, you receive Un-Stars. Hide from the naysayers or else you'll eventually acquire a maximum of 8+1 Un-Stars and instantly zero-sum.

The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Super Vivec 2: Vivec's Dream - Just a regular TES game starring Vivec. The whole universe is just a big damn dream of a schizophrenic Godhead, and you're a character. Oh wait, you just won.

Ive only completed the main quests one time in the entire time I've had both Morrowind and Oblivion. I'm just as happy without them.

YES!

Also: Elder Scrolls Simulator: Guild Master. 40 years+ playtime required to get to the higher echelons of your chosen guild. Then become leader only if previous leader dies. No save feature.

TES VI: Alinor

Launch a genocidal crusade into the summerset Isles, with the objective of wiping out the altmer homeland and their Thalmor overlords. Witness the seige of Alinor and learn from Numidium secrets that will allow you to remove the possibility of elves from the mythic.

Speaking of the Alessian Rebellion, there's so many wars and conflicts through the three/four eras to choose and play with.

all that material, but only so much time and money. Alas
