the whole sad story

There is a challenge called the whole sad story which is to listen to companions' and elijah's stories. i got the one from Dean & Christine after i had completed the last quests with them, and i got one from Elijah during the final holograph conversation but i never got one from Dog/God i'm sure i used all speech possibilities with him in the kitchen, i merged them together.

has anyone got this from Dog? if so can you remeber what speech path you took.

Edit. i used an old save and went back to Dog, definately no history from him. So went back to my current save inside the vault and talked to elijah again to get his story then kept talking to him using options that were already blanked out and i got the fourth mark for this challenge! challenge complete :)

yes i found this one rather poorly done considering it dident pertain to dog/god and specifically due to the text line from elijah did not reveal any information that the other option in the same conversation string did not to mention the "greying" of that text string after only the one option was chosen.

I think you need to kill God, and hear the story from Dog. Or vice versa: Kill Dog and hear the story from God.

if you kill Dog or God though, you can't complete the Things to Come! challenge,..

We might have been too tricky with this one unless you're already playing a low IN character.

You need to make yourself dumber (<4 IN, either with withdrawal and addiction effects - Psycho, Mentats, and Med-X should all be available) and then talk to Dog and ask him how he got to the Sierra Madre. At that point, he'll talk about his history back West in Fallout 1, the "Master" connection, and that's how you get his piece of info. Follow it with "Maybe you go back someday" and that should trigger the challenge increment.

I guess there's no way to do it if you have higher INT then (I have a base INT of 7 now)?

I had a base int of 7 as well. I reduced my int to 3 with med-x and mentat withdrawal, one alcohol, and by toggling on hardcoe to get a dehydration of over 600. The alcohol recovers some dehydration so you need to be over 600 by at least as much as the alcohol would recover. Psycho withdrawal doesn't affect INT. Even by doing all of this the speech options did not change for Dog. I was able to complete the challenge by getting two points from Elijah by going through his story twice like the others.

Maybe you need an even lower INT or it is bugged some how to see only your true int without status effects.

If all else fails there's a certain few lines you can speak of with Elijah in the Vault after reading Sinclair's revised note to Vera. You can repeat this dialogue option and finish the whole sad story. Things to come and Dean's stashes are the two I never dinished.

I ended up trying again by reducing my intelligence to 2 and the next time 1 through a sleep deprivation of ~400 and ~600. There were still no new speech options for Dog/God.

i got the Things to Come! before the end of the game, but only 3/4 for the sad story looks like i gotta play it again....
