The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a story-driven next-generation open world role-playing game, set in a graphically stunning fantasy universe, full of meaningful choices and impactful consequences. The world burns as the Empire of Nilfgaard pierces through the heart of the kingdoms in the north. Geralt of Rivia is pursued by an enemy devoid of mercy--the Wild Hunt, a mythical cavalcade of ghastly riders, harbingers of doom and destruction, capable of destroying entire settlements overnight. Driven by a deeply personal agenda, Geralt must navigate a maze of hostile forces to find and protect the one described in an ancient prophecy.

Upcoming Expansions

^

Hearts of Stone

...will take Geralt on an all-new 10-hour adventure into the wilds of No Man's Land and the nooks and alleys of Oxenfurt.

Hired by the Merchant of Mirrors, Geralt is tasked with overcoming Olgierd von Everec -- a ruthless bandit captain enchanted with the power of immortality.

Caught in a thick tangle of deceit, Geralt will need all his cunning and strength to solve the mystery and emerge unscathed.

It introduces new characters, powerful monsters, unique romance, and a brand new storyline shaped by gamer choices.

The expansion also introduces a brand new system of Runewords that significantly affects gameplay.

Each Runeword will impact a different aspect of in-game mechanics and will allow the players to experiment with various strategies and tactics.

v

Blood and Wine

A 20-hour tale that will introduce the all-new in-game region of Toussaint, will take Geralt to a land untainted by war,

where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret.

Hearts of Stone release date: 13 October 2015, while Blood and Wine is slated for release in the first quarter of 2016.

Both expansions will be available on all three platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC.

*******

The Witcher 3's paid DLC expansions will be available as part of the game's Expansion Pass, which will retail for $24.99

If players want to purchase the add-ons separately, Hearts of Stone will cost $9.99, while Blood and Wine will cost $19.99

Gwent

Gwent is a collectible card game you can play in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It puts you in a role of a general battling an enemy army with your own customized deck of cards.

These cards can be obtained throughout the game world: bought at shops, acquired from NPCs after winning gwent matches, or won in high-stakes tournament in Novigrad.

Each player must have a full deck for at least one faction to participate in a game of Gwent. This includes a minimum of 22 unit cards and a maximum of 10 special cards.

These unit cards can be made up of faction-specific units or Neutral cards, and if a player has more than 22 cards, they may choose to omit them from their deck in favor of drawing a better hand.

The Witcher 3 Blood And Wine, the second expansion of the popular role playing game developed by CD Projekt RED, is currently in development and there isn’t a whole lot we know about it,

other than it will be set in Toussaint and feature an old, familiar character.

Some new very interesting details on The Witcher 3 Blood And Wine expansion have emerged online today thanks to a new interview posted on Italian website Eurogamer.it.

In this new interview, The Witcher 3 Senior Story Writer Jakub Szamalek has talked more about Blood and Wine and what players should expect from it.

Like mentioned in the past, Blood and Wine will be the final adventure of The Witcher universe with Geralt as main character, a story without any strong relation with the main story.

Mr. Szamalek believes the team has managed to create something that’s even better than the main game, also thanks to players’ feedback.

Someone please tell me if you could now pause this game during cutscenes or dialogue with this current patch.

Even Bethesda who found a way to [censored] up the UI in Fallout 4 knows to give the option to pause during dialogue.

It wouldn't surprise me. The Hearts of Stone story is outstanding and has a more developped antagonist which the main story was lacking.

I'm on a break from the game and I haven't played with the new patch but I used http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/365/? to pause the game whenever I wanted. The author has updated it to the current patch. This is a must have mod for me and I highly recommend it.

:D That video reminded me of an awkward moment at The Game Awards when Marcin Iwinski (co-founder of CDPR) was confused over the announced winner of the best performance award.

If you haven't done so already I highly recommend "The Witcher" series of books.

Altogether in English so far you have "The Last Wish", "Sword Of Destiny", "Blood Of Elves", "Time Of Contempt" and "Baptism Of Fire" with "The Tower Of The Swallow" being released in May 2016 for the English version.

Many will already be aware of Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy saga that has existed long since before the video games were created and will have enjoyed the books as well (maybe even in the original Polish).

But if you haven't then it's a really enthralling read. A little like "Game Of Thrones" meets "Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales", the original dark ones where the children more often than not got eaten by the witch.

You don't have to read them at all to enjoy the game but after I read the first one I stopped playing... read all the rest of them... then went back and saw the true amount of care and sheer attention to detail that the developers took when creating this latest tale of Geralt the Witcher.

Definately worth a read if you're a fan of fantasy whether you care for the game or not and all the more if you enjoy the video game series.

Angry Joe just gave The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt his 2015 Game of the Year (GOTY) award.

So that's now a total of 210 2015 Game of the Year (GOTY) awards that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has gotten up from 166 Game of the Year (GOTY) awards.

on the topic of the Witcher though, i did look at the system reqs for 3, and they were honestly a bit higher than I was expecting.. while I thought the first 2 were, lets use the word sub par, when I can afford to replace my busted gaming PC (finding a job in this country is nearly impossible if you aren't willing to move out west) I am going to consider giving it a try to see what all the fuss is about.. maybe i'll think its better than the first two, maybe i'll even love it, but I will make an opinion on if its a good product or not based off of first hand experience, not how many pointlessly biased awards it wins..

at the very least, at the moment i'll say the graphics look amazing, and someone told me your hair grows in real time which i find a very interesting concept.. from what I hear the game is a little barren for an open world game, but it can't be worse than 2 worlds in that regard :P .. and what little I saw of a friend playing it, some of the monsters do look like they would be fun to fight.. but still, i won't pass judgment till i play it, because it takes more than that to make a truly superb game :)

Off-topic stuff removed.

This thread has been derailed by the debate on "YouTube journalism" before.

CDPRED's approach to open world varies greatly from Bethesda's approach. In TES games the world is densely dotted by all kinds of points of interest - ruins, bandit caves, forts, ancient strongholds or shrines and the like. While that gives a lot of content, it also takes away some realism (or whatever word should I use), 'cause hordes of bandits at every cave, ancient ruins sealed for thousands years until the player gets there, or haunted barrows just ten paces from a village... Lots of fun gameplay-wise, and the dungeons are often very nice, they're hardly believable from a lore or common sense point of view.

Meanwhile, in Witcher 3, it's more about the world in general than some particular cave. There are a LOT less caves and dungeons, and the exterior points of interests are mostly minor stuff like monster nests, bandit camps etc, but the world itself is created, in my humble opinion, in a much more believable way than TES games. The way the terrain itself is shaped, roads with cartwheel marks, highland stone erosion, rivers and creeks and the way trees sway in the wind. Even the weather is much more different than in TES, precisely that for example you can see the distant clouds building up, wind starts to gust, you can already see lightning flashes, but where you're standing it's still sun shining through thin layer of clouds, hiving characteristic yellow hue. Add to this the fact that Witcher 3 has almost no loading screens (full loading only when fast travelling, shorter loading eg. when cutscenes switch places) it really gives a sense of seamless world.
