The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a story-driven next-generation open world role-playing game, set in a graphically stunning fantasy universe, full of meaningful choices and impactful consequences. The world burns as the Empire of Nilfgaard pierces through the heart of the kingdoms in the north. Geralt of Rivia is pursued by an enemy devoid of mercy--the Wild Hunt, a mythical cavalcade of ghastly riders, harbingers of doom and destruction, capable of destroying entire settlements overnight. Driven by a deeply personal agenda, Geralt must navigate a maze of hostile forces to find and protect the one described in an ancient prophecy.

.:: Expansions ::.

^

::. Hearts of Stone (Expansion Pack I) .::

...will take Geralt on an all-new 10-hour adventure into the wilds of No Man's Land and the nooks and alleys of Oxenfurt.

Hired by the Merchant of Mirrors, Geralt is tasked with overcoming Olgierd von Everec -- a ruthless bandit captain enchanted with the power of immortality.

Caught in a thick tangle of deceit, Geralt will need all his cunning and strength to solve the mystery and emerge unscathed.

It introduces new characters, powerful monsters, unique romance, and a brand new storyline shaped by gamer choices.

The expansion also introduces a brand new system of Runewords that significantly affects gameplay.

Each Runeword will impact a different aspect of in-game mechanics and will allow the players to experiment with various strategies and tactics.

^
::. Blood and Wine (Expansion Pack II) .::

The Second Expansion to Action-RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt created by CD Projekt RED. This time we accompany Geralt during his stay in Touissant – one of few countries in The Witcher’s universe still untouched by war.

However, under the veil of carefree idyll the city hides a dark, bloody secret. Investigating the mystery is another task for the White Wolf. Just like in the first expansion, new content does not end with new missions.

The add-on also features new items, characters, and monsters. According to the developers’ estimate, Blood and Wine offers over 30 hours of gameplay.

.:: Gwent ::.

Gwent is a collectible card game you can play in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It puts you in a role of a general battling an enemy army with your own customized deck of cards.

These cards can be obtained throughout the game world: bought at shops, acquired from NPCs after winning gwent matches, or won in high-stakes tournament in Novigrad.

Each player must have a full deck for at least one faction to participate in a game of Gwent. This includes a minimum of 22 unit cards and a maximum of 10 special cards.

These unit cards can be made up of faction-specific units or Neutral cards, and if a player has more than 22 cards, they may choose to omit them from their deck in favor of drawing a better hand.

Thank you Mark for starting a new thread.

Ok I love this game but I am not a fangirl who loves everything about a game no matter what. Yes I am picky in my old age, haha

This piss-yellow(urochrome) tint, OH! sorry sun-drenched filter over the expansion really svcks IMO and what is with the super saturation making the game look so cartoony.

I don't believe there is a mod for this yet so the work around I am using is thru my Nvidia monitor color panel.

Dropping the monitors saturation from 50% to 34% and HUE adjusted to cancel the urochrome filter.

I hope we get an ENB for W3 so we can tweak this beautiful land to our liking.

Anyone know of a better or easier way around this?

Also what do you think of this added color feature to the expansion?

I have to agree with your comment 100%. I'm not liking this yellow sunny color of the Blood and Wine expansion pack at all either.

I have not seen any ENB's to change the colors yet either, but reading neogaf.com I have seen some neogaf.com members make ReShade mods to change the colors for the Blood and Wine expansion pack to a more lighter colorful of colors and not have that very yellow sunny color.

I have not used ReShade yet for the Blood and Wine expansion pack ever since I stopped playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, when I took a break from playing right after CD Projekt RED released the Hears of Stone expansion pack for sale.

In a way the Blood and Wine expansion pack's yellow color reminds me of Fallout 3's green colored tint filter.

Just a heads up to everyone who's playing Blood and Wine. There's a bug involving Corvo Bianco (your estate) where if you leave Toussaint while it's in the process of being renovated, then you won't get the upgrades you ordered (though your majordomo's dialogue will still act as though you did). So make sure to stay in the duchy until your current renovations have been completed.

I am downloading the expansion right now on the Xbox. It was a pain finding the DLC and it wanted me to pay for when I already have the season pass. Watched a couple of videos and the new UI even looks worse to me, I just want to see the new location since the I do like the look of the new location especially the color palette, it kind of reminds me of Oblivion which I loved.

Boris isn't going to make an ENB version for TW3. On his forums he said: "I will not modify Witcher 3, because found out game shaders are hardly editable, like UE ones where you must find all possible shaders combinations only experimenting with all graphic options possible, weathers, locations, etc. No thanks. PS: and stop commenting this, the situation is clear". ENB is unnecessary since you can use ReShade/SweetFX to tweak the colors, saturation, contrast and so on. I use my own SweetFX preset to offset the warm tone of the base game. I'm not a fan of color filters and I think natural looks best. I'm a long way from Toussaint so I won't be able to see how it looks for a while.

The rolling down the stairs bug hasn't been fixed. Try going down the stairs http://share.pho.to/AAZrn/fk/original in White Orchard. Apparently, the old version of "No More Rolling Down Stairs" mod still works with patch 1.21. (I wasn't sure it would so I updated it myself) Try something for me, find a staircase where you remember for sure rolling down before the last patch and tell me if anything has changed. One spot I remember clearly is where Triss is staying in Novigrad.

EDIT : No More Rolling Down Stairs mod has now been updated

For me Geralt had the issue with all stairs and I am on the Xbox One sometimes even when walking (chances were less but still happens quite a bit). I just roll played that he is a drunk bastard since he drinks all the time and hits on all the sorcs.

Sometimes Geralt would stumble with just one step by a door way. Sometimes I think he might be related to dike Van Dyke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnII4_W9k3E

I gave the new UI a Try and it is even worse in practice. The controls are also way too sensitive even at the lowest settings. At first I thought maybe they reset it to default settings. Maybe I will get used to it but at the moment I just do not like the UI.

I started a new game just to start the new expansion I do love the looks of the game but even at the lowest settings it is quite difficult based on the starting gear.

Bummer no ENB I probably will just run what I am doing with the monitor they say the expansion is 30 hours long which means it will take me 60 not enough to worry about.

Examples of vanilla and after my Nvidia adjustment. Non discript locations were used so no spoilers in these picts.

vanilla:

Nvidia tweak:

On the stairs test. Since the 1.21 update I have not tripped once and I have been playing every day plus 8 hours of the Blood and Wine.

I went to the spot you suggested Merc to run some tests. I always had issues on the stairs going up to the Nilf camp in White Orchard.

These stairs went well but as soon as I tried the stairs your suggested inside the base i became the blithering idiot I was so used to. Take a look.

The loading screen was edited out do to late game spoilers.

I think they applied an invisible ramp to problematic stairs made up of a shader that has special properties so that its surface won't be interpreted as a steep slope by the game. It would be a bigger headache to actually fix the slopes of the stairs because there's a lack of space in most cases and you'd have to rebuild so much of the environment. If my theory is correct you can see that they missed some staircases and that's why some are still a problem.

FFS! I misunderstood what simulate Witcher 2 save meant. I chose off because I thought it meant it would let me make my decisions in a conversation in Vizima :banghead: I don't know if I want to restart at this point. Anyone know of a hack?

EDIT:

I went to Witcher 3 Nexus and noticed this mod:

http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1559/?

Bloom seems to be a bit overdone but there's less yellow. I'm sure there will be more mods on the way that tweak the lighting.

I'll put together some examples of my SweetFX preset to show the difference but Toussaint might need more adjustments. If I have to restart TW3 then it'll be even longer before I get down there.

Merc, I have never started a game answering no to W2. I've only used an old W2 save once and I messed up and used a save where I killed someone. Since then I've always did the simulated W2 so I would get the questions.

For me there is only one item from W2 I want in my W3 game and I just don't know if you get that side quest by answering no. Dam it is hard to talk about stuff like this because so much would be spoilers.

No probably means the game uses canon which is Roche right? What would canon say about the final battle?

I have a new 1.12.1 playthru (W2 answers, Roche, no one was killed) I would be happy to email you a few save files PM me if interested.

EDIT: corrections and more input

Spoiler

I wanted that big psychopath alive this time. I thought I had stored a TW2 save right before dealing with Letho but it turns out my earliest save is right when the battle begins  I searched the internet and I'm not the only one who got confused over what "simulate witcher 2 save" means. I thought it meant the game would make decisions for me if I had set it to on  I tried using a hex editor to see if I could find anything in my TW3 saves to tweak but there's nothing very clear. I spent around 6 hours in White Orchard and it looks like I'm going back :glare: Thanks for the offer but I'm just going to make sure I choose ON this time!

I think CDPR might have just chosen the most popular decisions and used them as default if you choose not to simulate a TW2 save. I don't know this for sure as I've been unable to find much information. It's too bad Iorveth got cut from the game. I think everything just got simplified and your past decisions ended up having less impact in TW3 than they originally intended.

My comp is too old to play Witcher 3 any way so it's not and issue with me lol!

Good thing there is an Xbox1 version. Well worth the thirty bucks.

I'm about 7 hours in so far. It seems to be a pretty good game. I'm still in fhe beginners area. Wow, there are rabbit bodies all over the place. I spent a good while just looting them to sell the meat.

After a good deal of consideration. I think this third installment in The Witcher Series is one of the most impressive games I've ever played. I'm doing a NG+ playthrough and I haven't touched the DLCs yet, but Inam constantly impressed with the game despite beating the base game quite throughly once already.

That being said, there is definitely room for improvement. I just hope they stick with the Witcher world or do something similar if they are truly retiring Geralt.

So got way ahead of myself and completed the Hearts of Stones enchantment quest 14 levels under on Death March in NG+. A lot of load screens (deaths) and 30,000 gold marks later...

Any enchantment tips? A lot of these seem of only marginal usefulness. Only one that immediately sticks out as useful (on weapons) is the one that increases the reach of the special melee attacks by a yard or so. Some of the armor ones look sort of interesting. Arrow deflection sounds nice I guess.

Also, I've looked a few builds up, such as the 'Swordmaster' build that relies on adrenaline points to wreck house. Any recommendations that way? I've mostly been using Quen and combat attacks. I want to give potions and the other signs more of a shot but the other signs are very underwhelming. Igni seems mostly useless for damage purposes, Aard only really knocks down lower leveled enemies, Yrden is Yrden (situational) and Axii just doesn't seem worth the trouble since many enemies will be immune or resistant.

Wow I'm not sure we are playing the same game. Quen and fast/hard sword strikes with a whirl or two thru the entire game? Oh my.

This game offers so much more but you need to dig in and experiment a bit. Also get out of playing this game like it is a Bethesda game, no slam intended, this is not FO4 or Skyrim.

To me the best enchantment I got from HofS was the ability when drawing my sword (enter combat mod) auto quen with no hit to stamina. That's a game changer for me.

Also consider other builds like a 3 decoction. 14lvl below your current quest no problem.

Lol. I'm playing it more like Dark Souls than anything else. Definitely not like a Bethesda game. Parries, Counters, dodges, rolls, etc etc. Quen and the other signs have been supplementary. I've used decoctions, oils and potions, just not with their accompanying ability upgrades. I have experimented, just not very heavily. Potions of clearance aren't in large supply.

You could do that before every battle already. Simply cast it just before entering combat. That seems like the least useful ability tbh. I'd rather get 30% Quen intensity than that.

I actually just took that perk. I didn't realize three points would net me 230ish max toxicity. It is a tad ridiculous having three decoctions up at the same time.

Being 14 levels below your current quest on Death March in New Game+ is a different story. Everything one shots you. It becomes monumentally difficult to take out groups of enemies but I managed it. You do get a nice 150-200 XP for each high level mob killed though.

No problem. :)

The Dark Souls idea works a little better on Blood and Bones or whatever the level below Death March is. On Death March no Quen is much more difficult, unless you stick to your level range. But I frequently run into higher level mobs all the time and I'm stubborn lol.
