The world eater.

Apparently. Alduin is nicknamed the world eater. So does that mean He is so big that earth. (or nirn in ES lore) a small midget. Or is that an exageration. What do you think?

Perhaps he has good table manners and politely cuts the world into small pieces before eating?

I think it means he has the power and potential to simply destroy the world, not literally eat it.

That would be awesome and the moral possabilities and plot manuvers that it would take to make a person who has been all good all game into the ultimate villan are very thought provoking

This made me wonder, who would win: Alduin or Galactus?

Alduin is a god.
His dominion is beyond mortal comprehension. His presence in the Mundus is visible to all, he appears as a planet in the sky.
That planet is the god, the body of him, as far as our senses can make sense of the incomprehensible.

The eating of the world is a divine process. It is the ending of one turn of the wheel, the kalpa, and the start of the next.
Likewise this unknowable concept is translated down to our comprehension as a literal, physical reality.
Hence dragons that bring destruction.

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/fight-one-eating-birth-dagon about Alduin consuming the world. It's an obscure text, which means it's not in any of the games. You can choose whether you consider it canon or not.

He literally eats the world, according to Michael Kirkbride, the creator of Alduin. The world is in his mouth, he chews, and it's processed through the crap factory. One plot twist http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Varieties_of_Faith... is Akatosh, whose avatar fought Dagon, is Alduin. Another, dragonborn have the soul of a dragon, because they are dragons.

Maybe he wants to save Valenwood for desert?

Well i think that since he is a god, one of the most ancient ones that helped create the world... he is in a way, physically formless. Unless he wants to make his presence know to the people of Nirn. Dont the gods chose their form as whatever they will? Didnt Lorkan create Nirn with his own form/body?
From what i gather, there are 2 great existences of form that existed before Nirn was created. 1 is status/potential and the other is change.
The gods who are left/tricked into creating Nirn are descendants of change. Imprisoned in this form of change. So if Alduin eats the world wouldn't that make him formless and return to status/potential?

Not a master of lore and prolly not correct in what i said but does this make any kind of sense anyone?

Lorkhan managed to convince other gods to create Mundus by giving up pieces of themselves.

Read http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-monomyth, and http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-varieties-faith-empire if you get confused on what god is what.
