The Xbox 360 Screen Tearing must be Resolved before it Ships

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2011 3:26 pm

I have never noticed screen tearing in any of my 100+ 360 games, so I'm not concerned.

Because every video game looks just as good as it will when viewed on YOUTUBE are you kidding? Download the uncompressed versions that are almost 1gb a piece. No tearing....

Anytime you take an original product, transfer it (video capture), transfer it again (youtube or high qual DLs), transfer it a third time (youtube downloads), you're going to lose a lot of original quality.

I'm a PC player, but if I would play on the console, I wouldn't like such screen tearing...

I've never seen tearing on my 360 so I don't really care it'll probably be non-existent like it always is for me.

srsly, there is no reason to assume that the quality you get from watching video online is going to be the quality you get running the game. Some nitpicking I can kind of understand but this seems particularly pointless.

The screen tearing has been screencapped from the uncompressed video, so it's not just Youtube. That said, I think the engine that ships will be better than the engine that was filmed.

CountryBoy is just trying to get a rise out of people, posts one of these topics every now and then even though the majority of people don't and won't notice the screen tearing (I know I don't).

A little bit? The screen is tearing constantly during combat.

Interesting. I could see some. Have you checked out the screenshot thread? There's one in there, on the first post. I actually wonder if it's something to do with the video capture or playback.

I'll check again. Which video had the worst?

I played games with v sync off for a very long time, so I dont know if I am just super used to it

And I could give a hoot. I didn't even know what 'screen tearing' was until I came to these forums.

It didn't effect my life before, shouldn't effect me now.

I doubt the screen tearing will be as bad in the final version. Remember, Todd wants the 360 version to be as perfect as possible :) lol

I only noticed the screen tearing when I was watching on a slow connection and the video paused to buffer.

There is bad screen tearing during combat, especially the dragon fights on the ground. It looks like a mess, I pray this is fixed...I'd rather drop frames than have screen tearing!

Whoa there, to me, buffering is a dirty word, and I have a dog named wifi. I need a phone that can do more

This attitude of "it doesn't affect me, so I don't care" is probably one of the worst things about this fanbase.

Elitism at it's finest. Mostly from the PC crowd (not everyone though).

I played two worlds (1) (and liked the game which had some of the worst screen tearing ever).... i think i can deal with the little bit in skyrim.

that said, i hold bethesda to a higher standard so they need to fix it before release (im sure it will be fixed).

I think the player characters nose hair was too long and didn't render with a good enough texture for how much of it was showing.

Immersion factor 0.

Screen-tearing is a bit more serious than that straw man of a nitpick you so kindly produced. Screen-tearing is delving into the realm of game performance... not particularly art design choices or even graphical quality... particularly quite minor ones, by your example.

I agree, I seem to see it every time it happens and it drives me nuts when I'm playing!

How so? My knowledge of screen tearing is it's a hardware thing, when a GPU and tv/monitor are out of sync.
