It's a fps issue and it's likely here to stay, I'm afraid.

I have never even heard about it before a few threads on these boards. Seems like a problem between the TV and the xbox, not the game itself.

Note, I truly have no idea what it is caused by though.

The uncompressed footage shows the same thing...

Anyway, it's probably Microsoft's 30 fps policy at work, here. It was that for Fallout 3. The 360 version had V-sync, but disabled it when needed to maintain its framerate.

The screen tearing exists on the uncompressed video.

BUT I've never seen tearing like that before on Xbox. Never ever ever. It's bloody awful. Either they captured the video wrong (likely) or there's a serious problem (less likely).

Don't think there is much that can be done really? V-sync or a monitor/TV with a high refresh rate?

This attitude of "it doesn't affect me, so I don't care" is probably one of the worst things about this fanbase.

Games have screen tearing so... meh.
The games don't have anything to with it does it? Isn't it the TV or monitor that's the problem?

I agree. People might as well get their winkies out.

The game is still being optimized. V-Sync is one of the last things they will enable.

Didn't the people who attended PAX and Quakecon say (multiple times) that they saw no screen-tearing?

This is the attitude of many people in the world and its disgusting.

If a product needs to be fixed I would want it fixed whether or not it has anything to do with me.

I don't see why people come on here just to say they don't care.

I'm not getting a console version but I still hope console users have a decent experience.

Also, I'm betting they are still working on optimizing the graphical code for consoles. Close to release dates most of the work is on testing, quest tweaking, and some art resources, meaning coders have some time to focus on optimization.

Didn't see any problems with the vids and the footage is Alpha meaning stuff will still need to be fixed.

Interesting. I could see some. Have you checked out the screenshot thread? There's one in there, on the first post. I actually wonder if it's something to do with the video capture or playback.

Is screen tearing fixable without V-sync? Could someone inform me what exactly it is? I thought it was when the GPU rendered/loaded the next frame faster than the tv/monitor could refresh?
