The Year of Akatosh 433

Post » Fri Nov 02, 2012 11:50 pm

So, I've been playing through Oblivion again lately, and I've been wondering about something. What exactly does it MEAN that it's the "Year of Akatosh" which Uriel proclaims in the intro? It seems like some years may be devoted to the various gods (perhaps the Akatosh one was based on some prophecy? Martin's "ascension?")

Or could the good people of Tamriel think of nothing else, and just named it the Year of Akatosh? (Sort of like in the Forgotten Realms, where you pretty much get the impression that they named the years after silly things, aka. "Year of the Dancing Thief")

What do you guys think?

I just took it as a play off of "The year of our lord" which pops in our world.

But Akatosh has been around since the First Era. It would be the year of Septim, surely. Or Talos.

Maybe this is some kind of leap year in Tamriel, every 4 years we got the year of Akatosh XD

I thought it was kinda like Chinses Zodiacs and stuff, but with the Tamriel pantheon.

It is either this,
I just took it as a play off of "The year of our lord" which pops in our world.
in reference to Akatosh's role as timegod, or this
I thought it was kinda like Chinses Zodiacs and stuff, but with the Tamriel pantheon.
with each god having their own year and continuing via cycles.
