TheDaywalker's Faerie Realms

haha, wow, that troll is great, and so far as a see it concerning polycount, as long as a model doesn't lag the game, it's fine, i just wanted to know how many polycount was on that model to give me an idea of how many polygons i can use in my work

it's only the animations that take ages for me to do really, i just meant edit the ogrim model to something new, and move the bones so they don't clip
i'll pm you the four armed ogrim, i copy and pasted the bones is all, so they use the same animations as the other arms, however there is a slight chance this method will destroy the other animations, but it is always salvageable using nifskope
i think i may have edited the bone lengths on the four-armed ogrim skeleton, so it wont work with the ogrim model, and you may have to fiddle around with the bones to get it just right, is that ok?

and i am thinking of copying the legs of a creature to make a centuar type thing, i need something that doesn't turn too much though, a daedroth maybe? i'll send you that as well if i have any success with it, but it'll be a while cause i gotta get a venus fly trap creature for TR finished, then i'm going to start improving their other creatures animations and models (nothing too hard, just time consuming)

edit: scratch that, it will work with an ogrim model if you attach it in nifskope, though it will look a tiny bit different

Thx, I will play around with that Ogrim, but a four armed creature would be cool. Like that giant dude from mortal combat, back in the days!!!

The polycount of normal MW heads is about 1000-1500 vertices if I remember right, but I always made ones with higher polycount and never my PC lagged bcause of this. And i have a 6 year old machine with very low performance. What does more damage to fps is a high amount of high resolution textures.

PS: I saw some Tamriel Rebuild video some days ago, awesome landscape and architecture. You can be proud of being part of it with your animations!!! :tops:

haha, my venus trap is about to be part of TR, but don't think any of the other creatures as mine, they are quite shameful, that's why i got my hands full improving them

you part of the skyrim mod then? i wonder what your creatures will look like? i think there are a couple of nice concepts for skyrim armor on TR's website, and a load of weapon concepts if you wanna take a look, though some of it is slightly uber

i'll send you the four armed ogrim thing tomorrow, i gotta finish this venus trap first, and then there's english coursework i gotta do as well <_<

"...Father, is it true what they say about those little faeries and their hidden realms, that lie somewhere beyond the great sea?!"
"No my son, don't believe a word of that, those are just very old tales and you are a far too big boy by now to believe in that gossip!"
"But father, Garreth, the owner of the town's archieves says they have their own little kingdom, which is ruled by a mighty faerie queen named..."

"Hush little one, don't say that name loud or she..."
"Father, you're ok?!"

This is the swampy border region of the wild realm "Mudluren" and the fae's who live there call it the "Swamps of Mispel". It is a region, where many legends rank about. They say that back in the dawn of days, a mighty dragon drowned in the swampy waters of that region, after he had been hit by a dozen of deadly arrows. The lifeless corpse of that dragon soon left this world, but his magic soul was svcked up by the swamps to last there forever. There is no evidence for that legend at all, but noone of us can deny, that the swamps of "Mudluren" are a strange place and many many travellers report, that this place is haunted... :o

Yap, all of my cells are interiors, so there will be no conflicts with other mods. Lateron I will link all cells, which belong to a certain realm. Somehow like in text based rpg, where you can choose west, east, north, south and then enter a new area. I'm thinking of portals that work without need of activating. Just walk through and get teleported. Must be scriptable somehow.

I began with that cell yesterday, so wait foe the next update!!! :D

I love it! It looks so great! I watched the video and can't wait to try it out. Do you have the story all on one page so we can read it?

I like that troll with the new eyes though the old eyes make it look more mystical and demon-ish. Pan is also very good!

You have such talent and I look forward to a release!

Thx Maria!!! :) I haven't written down the story yet. Those excerpts come all from my mind. I invented several pen and paper RPGs back in the days and wrote many adventures, which never got played, because our girlfriends at that time didn't like playing RPGs that much. At least not that kinda RPGs. :P Most of the stories and lore for this WIP is from my last selfmade RPG and there is plenty left. :D

...Young "Stone-Trolls" are quite funny guys and if you're good at telling dirty jokes, they might even barter with you for gems and raw ore, cause that's what they love most for eating. But be aware of the old trolls, cause they are known to be very grimly and easy to be provoked. Many poor travelers who weren't known to that difference, had to pay for that with their lives...

I just come out of the swamps of "Mudluren" and met one of those creatures, thank the gods for that it has been a young one!!! :D

At first I didn't seem him, but then he started moving! One suggestion: you should have the young ones have flowers grow on their heads or something like that rather than antennae. Since they seem more natural rather than insect-like, imo. ;)

Ok, I'll try a version with flowers and moss, but I don't want to have it look too kinky!!! :P

OMG, my poor faeries on page nr. 12, that's a shame. Got to bump it up again with some fresh screens!!! :D

The "Canyon of Charda", a small area surrounding the foothills of the "Grey Sickle". The realm in which this canyon lies is called A'lyndrah and it's the jome of the infamous "Honey-Thief-Fae". I have decided to use some of the asian style for this region.

The "Valley of Leshruc", home of the mighty wizards of the Fae-Quen, a really nice place to do some studies or just relax from struggle and traveling. There's only one negative aspect about it. If you're neither a wizard, nor a guard of the Fae-Queen, you won't never ever get permission to visit this place. Well as you can see, the little "Honey-Thief must be aware of some kind of hidden path. But I guess this little bastard won't tell us his secret for free.

"The old legends do report about a mysterious valley, which's name had been "Dwurl". "Dwurl" is faerie language and means somewhat like "Mouth of the Giant". Hidden in that valley there shall be an ancient city made of purest gold. If you ask me, this is gossip, imagine a whole city made of gold only, this is ridiculous..."

Yeah, I'm a big fan of landscaping, but not having the possibility to use the landscaping tool is a kind of hard. I can't move anything in an Interiorcell. I have a static mesh and then I have to make things fit in like a puzzle. The challenge is to make the interior in a way so that the player won't have the feeling he is in a kind of large room. What I'll do next is making animated landscapes. I'll make moving plants and mushrooms, new creatures and much more...

You can use the landscaping tool in an interior, thanks to yacoby. Create your lands in an exterior and edit how you want, save it and use this http://yacoby.silgrad.com/MW/Mods/CellToNif.htm
It will take your landscape and turn it into a nif. Load the new nif into the fairie realm and there you go. Never used it myself, so Im not an expert on how it works, but it should be helpful.

According to the description youll have to load the nif into nifskope or whatever program you use and apply the texture you want.

I know that program and it's cool, but it's not useful for me in this case. I'd have to build all exteriors in an exterior cell and then copy/paste them into an interior cell and most difficult place them exactly on the landmesh. That's too much work. If I want a landmesh, blender and it's sculptmode is all I need. What I ment was, I cannot change the land spontanious, because it's a static mesh. So that's a big disadvantage compared to exterior cells.

Bad, bad news!!! Seems as if I will have to start this mod over again from scratch. All my landmeshes have severe collision issues and I can't find a way to fix this. Most of my landmeshes are that big, that the collision which is projected from mesh's triangles is floating about men's lenght above the ground. Means, you and all NPCs and creatures walk through the air. Other parts of the meshes have no collision at all and you fall through the ground.

I have tried all out, that blender offers me and I have no clue what else to try. Might be a problem of the pure size of the meshes, most are nearly as big as a complete interior cell.

I'm very sad, but I can't do anything about this. I' have my 3D models safe and my races, anything else was work for nothing!!! I have to think what to do now!!!

oh, ouch! I think there is a nifskope forum somewhere where you can say you need help figuring out how to fix the collision on it. That must hurt to have all those great pieces and something goes wrong!

I hope it can be figured out, it would be a shame to not be able to use it after all that work!

Try making a RootCollisionNode in your mesh, and use a copy of the actual mesh as the collision mesh, if that doesn't help, then you can just toy around with the collision mesh you just made in the RootCollisionNode.
I can also have a look at them as well if you want, just upload the meshes and PM me a link.
It should be easily fixable, even if the collision projects wrongly with the RootCollisionNode you can just quickly edit the Collision mesh so it works correctly. :)

My favorite screen as of yet:

Also, the deer got eaten! Haha, I laughed and then I watched it again to confirm I was not on some kind of hallucinogen.

I hope you can resolve your problems with the landmeshes. I'm pretty sure it can be solved.

EDIT:I could try importing one of your nif's into max, look at it and try helping out.
